If something like Swift can, then sure Demi Lovato can one day be a Grammy winner…February 13, 2015 at 8:51 am #398617
Style music video has just arrived. Watch here.
It’s good, but not “great”.
Actually, I was waiting for a lively and nostalgic video, however, this one is dreamy and slow. I’d expect this for Wildest Dreams, not Style.
It kinda copies parts of a Rihanna vid (again!)… but in a boring way…February 13, 2015 at 8:44 am #409347

So happy and excited about Lady Gaga!!!February 11, 2015 at 1:56 pm #409235
I agree that still a few serious/real artists have to emerge in the Pop Field (for now 1989 is the frontrunner, but that winning would be like awarding ‘Bangerz’ or ‘My Everything’ this past ceremony) but Madonna, Bruno, Florence & the Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna and maybe Adele are coming… and who nows? There’s always a John Mayer in the mix…
For Pop Duo there are already great contenders, like ‘FourFiveSeconds’ (will anyone come close to the star power of these 3? They look unbeatable this early in the race), ‘Uptown Funk’, and if Maroon 5 is getting a nom, I’m sure it won’t be for ‘Sugar’, their label would submit something like ‘My Heart Is Open’ (performed at the Grammys) or single 4 before it…February 11, 2015 at 8:35 am #390902
Here is a list of Christina Aguilera’s six Grammy wins:
1999 – Best New Artist
2000 – Best Female Pop Vocal Album (Mi Reflejo)
2001 – Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals (“Lady Marmalade”)
2003 – Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (“Beautiful”)
2006 – Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (“Ain’t No Other Man”)
2014 – Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Say Something”)
Queen!!! Although I HATE with passion AGBW and this song, it’s always deserving when a legendary voice takes home a Grammy… so congrats Christina…February 9, 2015 at 7:49 pm #405804
Just noticed a little pattern.
2013: Justin Timberlake had the most successful album of the year and many predicted him to win AOTY. He didn’t even get nominated and he also lost Pop Vocal Album.
2014: Beyonce released a surprise album and it became one of the most successful albums of the year without any promotion. She was considered by many as a front-runner to win AOTY throughout the entire year. She did get nominated, but didnt win for AOTY or Urban Contemporary album.
2015: Taylor had the best selling album of 2014 even though it was released in October but it was released after the eligibility period. It has 2 #1 singles, Style is climbing up the charts without being a single, it broke some records, it has spent 10 weeks at #1 so far, and it has already sold around 6 million copies worldwide. It is already being considered a front-runner for AOTY and Pop Vocal Album.
So it seems like the most successful albums and front-runners end up losing AOTY and their genre nomination.
Could 1989 end up not winning anything? (I mean the album, the singles could get some wins)
I know Im crazy, but it just crossed my mind.
Here’s hoping the trend continues this year, then!February 9, 2015 at 2:23 pm #405799
I hope someone like Adele or a rock/alt act releases before the elegibility period ends because the ‘presumed frontrunners’ for the GF that we have right now are absolutely terrible, specially teen pop album 1989 (I’d prefer teen acts like 1D and Ariana Grande before this sh!*) and Ed Sheeran’s songs that will be way old by Feb 2016… also, as much as I love Bruno and Uptown Funk, I hope we get to hear better stuff thru the year… I have high hopes on Luke Bryan too!
1989 isn’t “Teen Pop” is a well crafted pop album was on many year end list. You just don’t like Taylor which is ok. But don’t try to act like 1989 is as bad as a One Direction or Ariana Grande album. Taylor will continue with her streak of being nominated in the General Field with at least a nomination in AotY. Not saying she’s winning but she deserves a nomination.
I can’t see 45sec getting in the GF unless it really blows up but I think Pop Duo/Group is a lock considering the names.
We might also get new Katy Perry and Gaga (who is teaming up with Red One so maybe good Gaga) this summer.
Damn, don’t mislead my words: I never ‘acted like’ Grande or 1D had a bad album, it’s Taylor Swift the least talented and most overrated among those kids audiende-driven artists, but Ariana at least can sing… hold your breath and keep your life without pretending your Tay Tay… Don’t take my words so seriously 🙂February 9, 2015 at 9:10 am #177471
BIRDMAN looks unbeatable now, it’s probably winning the Pic/Dir combo… so undeserved, I wish AMERICAN SNIPER would upset now that BOYHOOD ain’t winning…February 9, 2015 at 9:05 am #168530
BIRDMAN is a lock to win Pic/Dir but Redmayne is winning Actor because he has THE ROLE…February 9, 2015 at 8:57 am #403343
Congrats to Traditional Pop Queen and 6-time Grammy award winner Lady Gaga

BEYONCÉ deserves to win this. Beck and Pharrell would be deserving runner-ups as well. However, as much as I dislike and think IN THE LONELY HOUR is a mediocre album, recent undeserved wins like FEARLESS and BABEL make me think it could win, since voters seem to choose (sometimes) the easiest listening option… but go Beyoncé!
