Last year, Despactio got robbed in the 60th Grammys by losing ROTY and SOTY to Bruno Mars. This could happen to Old Town Road if it’s nominated. But, Im assured that OTR will likely be passed over by the Grammy committee.June 7, 2019 at 11:25 pm #1202927886
Old Town Road will be the biggest snub in the 62nd Grammys.June 5, 2019 at 10:20 am #1202924581
In AOTY, the Grammys doesn’t care about the Metacritic score. They vote for the album with the best quality, not music reviews.June 2, 2019 at 10:51 pm #1202921137
AOTY: thank you next – Fall asleep – ABIIOR (1975) – Ventura – i am > i was – IGOR- Homecoming and ASIB
ROTY: Sunflower – Old Town Road – bad guy – a lot – before i let go
SOTY: “ “
Again, Old Town Road isn’t winning ROTY for real because the Grammy members may find the song a bit overrated and trash.June 2, 2019 at 10:49 pm #1202921135
I have a feeling they’ll submit 7 Rings in the GF.
Thank U Next left HOT100 charts last week already and the eligibility period is far from over yet. It’ll probably chart pretty low on the year-end charts. So Ariana’s team may think that 7 Rings is more successful and recent.
No, 7 Rings will be snubbed due to plagiarism accusations for copying Soulja Boy, etc. She must submit thank u next song. By the way, I’m rooting for Billie Eilish to win AOTY.June 2, 2019 at 8:01 pm #1202920998
ROTY:Sunflower or When The Party’s Over
SOTY:Thank u Next
Best New Artist:Billie EilishJune 2, 2019 at 1:53 am #1202920160
Please stop dreaming!
WITHOUT ME is not winning anything. It is probably getting Pop Solo nomination and (if she’s very lucky) one of the GF categories but I am still sure it will be delegated only to Pop Categories like Closer (a way bigger hit by Grammy winners The Chainsmokers).
Without Me is a cute song but it has 0% chance of winning- no hype or buzz and it’s mostly driven by radio not by sales or streaming.
I see Halsey weaker than last year’s Camila Cabello. She will be a non-factor in January!
Halsey is going to be snubbed.June 1, 2019 at 10:02 pm #1202920043
Personally I’m predicting TUN for Album Of The Year. I’d be really surprised if it doesn’t make it in this weak year. That would mean she has a serious problem with the committee (it’s still possible nevertheless).
I would predict her for RoTY as well only if she submits TUN there. I’m not comfortable predicting 7 Rings in the GF.
I feel the committee won’t be compelled to nominate her in the song and record categories as much as the AoTY category. Because the latter is really empty, whereas the song categories, they could even go for Sucker, Sunflower, Without Me and that type of other pop songs that were released this year, if they don’t like 7 Rings.
Because 7 rings has already plagiarism accusation for copying the verse from other songs without permission. As of now, Ariana Grande is not winning in the GF, but Billie Eilish should be a Grammy darling and she might win AOTY if Taylor Swift won’t release her seventh album by next month or two.June 1, 2019 at 9:58 pm #1202920039
The Grammy committee will block Old Town Road.May 31, 2019 at 1:15 am #1202917446
To those who say the songs “Flopped on the charts and didn’t sell well”:
It doesn’t matter how these songs do on the charts. Jeez, “This Is Amerca” lost its momentum within weeks of its release and “Golden Hour” didn’t even debut at 1# in the Billboard 200 or last long in it and they both won in the general field. This isn’t the Billboard Music Awards or the AMAs. The only category that the charts and the Grammy committee seem to coincide is Best New Artist. The Grammys could care less about 7 Rings and Old Town Road at 1#. Do yall really think the Grammys are going to award songs such as
“Can’t nobody tell me nothin’ You can’t tell me nothin’
Can’t nobody tell me nothin’ You can’t tell me nothin’
Ridin’ on a tractor Lean all in my bladder
Cheated on my baby You can go and ask her
My life is a movie Bull ridin’ and boobies
Cowboy hat from Gucci Wrangler on my booty”
“I want it, I Got It, I Want It , It Got It, I Want It, I Got It I Want It, I Got It. You like my hair? Gee Thanks, Bought It. I See It, I Like It, I Want It, I Got It.”
?? Pay attention to the Lyrical and Production aspect rather than that the numbers and chart positions.
Coming soon: Old Town Road and 7 Rings becomes snubbed in the 62nd Grammys.May 29, 2019 at 1:01 am #1202914541
Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and Solange are only lock for AOTY noms.May 26, 2019 at 7:39 pm #1202911853
None of those arguments make much sense though. Ariana was actually praised for not performing, and voters weren’t upset with her; the producer was. It really wasn’t that big of a deal.
7 rings is also not even close to the disaster that was LWYMMD. Quality aside, 7 rings was actually a big, relatively stable hit, and it had decent reviews, and was from an acclaimed album. Plus, it wasn’t even her return to the media, like LWYMMD was to Taylor.
It also doesn’t make sense to say that her album is bad. That’s simply your opinion, and clearly critics and audiences disagree.
However, I do think winning last year hinders her shot just a bit. She already got her due, and this time she’ll have a legit contender in other categories (if she submits thank u next instead of the other singles). Voters might pass on her to give it to someone new; though that someone new is Billie Eilish, whose style isn’t typically liked by the Grammy’s.
To be honest, 7 rings is typically not a good song lyrically. But, I had a mixed feeling that if she submits this song for the General Field, it will be a bad move. Thank u next, song was typically good, but the song was just too basic. She may not win in ROTY or SOTY. On the other hand, Taylor Swift won’t be releasing her second single until June or early July just to give Old Town Road a shot of beating Despacito and One Sweet Day 16 week reign at Hot 100. Old Town Road could be snubbed as well. Me! will be relegated to Best Pop Duo only. But, if her next single perform well with critical acclaim, then it will get a nom in ROTY/SOTY.
