I LOVE Meryl Streep but I pray the Academy is over nominating her for everything. Especially for light weight films that are borderline mediocre. The Florence Foster Jenkins nod is probably her worst ever. Next to Into the Woods.October 23, 2020 at 1:15 am #1203797800
Delroy Lindo gave the performance of 2020. That monologue in the jungle is one of the greatest acting moments ever captured on screen. He was universally acclaimed by everyone. EVERYONE!
Even if the film has its faults, there’s no denying the brilliance of his work. He could very well win SAG too. It’s the type of challenging role actors love.October 23, 2020 at 1:10 am #1203797794
Gaga is definitely in Pop Duo/Group & PVA. She & Ariana will likely win for the former. 🙌🏾
I will LOL if BTS wins. “Dynamite” is everywhere: TV, commercials, ads, radio, etc.October 23, 2020 at 1:07 am #1203797788
“Positions” is a cute single. But unless it spends 17 weeks @ #1, I highly doubt voters will remember it. She’ll more than likely have a bigger hit to contend next year.October 23, 2020 at 1:03 am #1203797785
Get real! “Circles” is NOT happening in Song of the Year.
The only songs that will get in both Record of the Year and Song of the Year are:
“Don’t Start Now”
Possible: “I Can’t Breathe” “Lockdown”
“Circles” definitely gives me “the big hit that got snubbed vibes”. It happens every year. Someone has to get omitted.
And can I be honest? I prefer “Lockdown” over ICB & TBP. Anderson is on the cusp of getting in the GF (outside of his BNA nod). It’s the type of record that relates all of 2020’s atrocities into 1 song. Which may feel more universal to the BRP.October 23, 2020 at 12:56 am #1203797781
I’m not sold on “Shameika” in either category
IF Fiona appears in the GF it’ll be for AOTY IMO. I don’t think any individual song from FTBC made enough impact or noise to make it into ROTY/SOTY. Even as a random WTF nominee.
The album as a whole received acclaim. So IF the BRP decide to finally recognize her it would be for the entire body of work.October 23, 2020 at 12:50 am #1203797771
Y’all will rue the day when Post Malone finally becomes a serious contender. It’s bound to happen eventually. Especially in a weak year.
He’s a popular White hybrid male musician. His versatility as an artist could potentially land a victory in Pop, Rap, Rock, or maybe even Country. I wouldn’t underestimate him as a future GRAMMY winner.
The difference between Post & Katy is that she sticks in her Pop lane. He’s way more diverse. PM is a likelier contender than she’ll ever be.October 23, 2020 at 12:41 am #1203797767
Instead of BNA maybe change the name to Breakthrough Artist. So acts who were previously nominated as a feature, songwriter, or producer are eligible for their debut albums.October 23, 2020 at 12:38 am #1203797765
Adele ain’t stupid. Sis is trying to get an EMMY nomination for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. And TBH, she probably would win.
The fact that she previously lost a Daytime Award to Rachel Platten 💀
But seriously, A4 is coming soon. Probably after the election. I predict we get a single first then an album announcement.October 23, 2020 at 12:26 am #1203797759
Let’s be honest: Roddy Ricch should’ve been eligible for & won BNA.
Lewis Capaldi’s omission is understandable considering that SYL was nominated for SOTY. His breakthrough happened during the last GRAMMY cycle. Fair.
But Roddy won as a feature. A FEATURE! He didn’t blow up until 2020. Before this year he had no prior album in consideration. So technically he is a new artist. The rules need to be re-evaluated ASAP.October 23, 2020 at 12:16 am #1203797750
I predict Taylor/Folklore will receive at least 5 nominations:
Album of the Year
Song of the Year – “cardigan”
Pop Solo Performance – “cardigan”
Pop Vocal Album
Music Film – Miss Americana
Other possible nods:
Pop Duo/Group Performance – “exile”
I don’t see “betty” getting into Country or “Only the Young” in Visual Media.October 22, 2020 at 9:13 pm #1203797549
“Positions” is a cute song. Very catchy and it’s the perfect blend of Pop & R&B. I like it.October 22, 2020 at 1:30 pm #1203796912
The Prom definitely won’t be a major Oscar contender. But the Globes are going to eat it up. Meryl will receive her 10,000th nomination. Ryan Murphy might show up in Director 👀October 22, 2020 at 1:28 pm #1203796903
The Supporting Actor race is by far the most open of any acting category and its already giving me anxiety 😂
So is Kaluuya really being placed here? Or is this based solely on speculation? If true, he would probably win.October 21, 2020 at 3:01 pm #1203794841
DSN is way ahead of cardigan
There’s always a big hit that’s snubbed in Pop Solo. I predict it will be DSN.
Taylor is more of a favorite, “cardigan” is GRAMMY friendly, and it actually hit #1. She was just nominated for YNTCD. So it’s not inconceivable to believe it will happen again.
