not y’all using receipts of past female directed movies that got oscar nominations (PYW, POTD) that ended up only winning only 1 oscar each and not even the acting category, with one of them even losing it to a Spielberg movie.
Also 3 of her 4 nominations were for divorced/almost divorced women crying their eyes outs (Brokeback Mountain, Blue V…[Read more]

Top Gun is prob getting in ACE + PGA + SAG stunt ensemble + WGA + sound guilds. Serious enough to be a BP contender. And with its word of mouth being a massive improvement on every front besides Song. Wouldn’t be surprised DGA bites cuz the box office overperformance and acclaim. And no way y’all expecting us to believe Oscar voters gonna vote…[Read more]

Honey replied to the topic Should Will Smith Have His Oscar Taken Away? in the forum Movies 4 months, 3 weeks ago
No, but I’m wondering if the academy has grounds to sue Will as it took place on their event and I would think that they’re technically liable to what happens during their events like how schools would be liable to their students while they’re on campus.

Honey replied to the topic The Power of the Dog. What Went Wrong? in the forum Movies 4 months, 3 weeks ago
The movie has no rooting factor and it’s in a genre (Western) that has been dying at the box office and even at the Oscar’s in terms of wins. Netflix focused their attention on the narrative of a woman Director tackling a genre that’s male-centric and while that may be impressive, it focused too much on it being an achievement but not neces…[Read more]

They should’ve just invited Britney to present something, least she’d bring them viewership and retweets and it’d be her first televised appearance since the conservatorship ending, and she’d get the standing ovation just by showing up.

Jodie was already working in the business for 20 years and had an Oscar nom, 2 GG nom, and 2 BAFTA wins already before this. This wasn’t a breakout performance for her.

Isn’t CODA basically a GD ideal/wishlist movie. Female directed, female lead, female screenplay, no male leads and representation. Y’all finally get your BP wishlist and then want it to lose to a cowboy movie not even starring a twink to drool over? The twists and turns this decade brought.

There must be something in the New Zealand Water. First Russell Crowe and now possibly Jane Campion canceling themselves out of a win after sweeping precursors.

Power has won even less major guilds (only DGA) than Crash/Spotlight/Moonlight/Green Book (I’m counting individual sag wins as part of the movie)…and those 4 were considered an upset for BP win. It’s going to be unprecedented if Power or CODA (for lack of major noms) won BP.

So DLU is basically the Jojo rabbit of this season to GD. Good/Decent guild run support, “important message” script, medicore critics score which the critics tried to destroy and failed, and both starred actresses from Superhero films who GD hates. Screaming if the critics take another L this season on their agenda failing again. Obviously Joj…[Read more]

Will prob end up being DLU since LP and Belfast don’t have an important message and Mckay is beloved by the guilds while PTA movies has historically struggled with them.

They’re pissed off that Bradley chooses the right project and doesn’t cast their fave actress to join the movie to get the Oscar nomination too.

Gangs was a late screener situation, I think? (which Power and Tick tick arent) but yes that too. Depp had the box office giant/career revival as a factor for him. I forget Lost in Translation and Pirates were the same year, otherwise Depp would’ve easily won GG that year lol.

Maybe it’s Leo to talk about that 2015 GG viral moment lol (and also be overdramatic how their movies/roles are important). It’d make sense it’s him since nobody else from DLU is campaigning here yet they’re supposed to have the most important film of the year? Make it make sense Netflix.

There’s only been once instance in this category where both GG acting winner lost at SAG to someone from a movie that didn’t get in SAG ensemble. (Johnny Depp – Pirates of the Carribean) Even the ones who lost GG who prevailed at SAG were in SAG ensemble nominees. It would mean SAG would be between Smith and Garfield, and Smith is the only…[Read more]

7/8 of Denzel’s acting nominations were from non-BP nominees and he’s only missed once when he had a globe nom. Tragedy of MacBeth looks like it’ll get more noms than half of Denzel’s other movies where he got an acting nom so I doubt he’s missing if he didn’t miss for the others.
