I think Dahmer will just end up like Ratched; a critically maligned Ryan Murphy show that gets a Globe nod/SAG nod for Evan Peters but comes up short for the Emmys. The audience scores are much higher so it’s well-liked by the GP but it doesn’t have the respect or passion to stay strong as a whole. I think, similarly to Blonde, they’ll be too afraid to touch the show outside of acting.

I’ve been burned saying this before (said it about Danielle Deadwyler last year for Station Eleven), but hopefully I’m more right this year… isn’t Niecy Nash’s performance in Dahmer truly just too good to be denied? She is absolutely fantastic. I think the show will go the way of ‘Hollywood’, in that it hits for acting but not for series. Jenkins, Peter, and especially Nash, are honestly just too good in this for too many others to eclipse them. Am I naive?

The two omissions I can’t stomach are Danielle Deadwyler (‘Station Eleven’) and Nika King (‘Euphoria’).

Does anyone know why no one was even talking about King? The show didn’t even submit her for consideration in Supporting Actress; she had to submit herself!

And here’s context on why people are crazy for Danielle Deadwyler. This scene left me absolutely stunned:

Is it just me, or could Ted Lasso, Abbott Elementary, Barry or Hacks all easily win this? I am unconfidently predicting a wild split of the acting wins across all 4 series, with Barry taking the crown due to elevated writing / directing:

    SERIES: “Barry”
    ACTOR: Jason Sudeikis, “Ted Lasso”
    ACTRESS: Jean Smart, “Hacks”
    SUPPORTING ACTOR: Henry Winkler, “Barry”
SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Janelle James, “Abbott Elementary”
GUEST ACTOR: Nathan Lane, “Only Murders in the Building”
GUEST ACTRESS: Harriet Sansom Harris, “Hacks”
    DIRECTING: “Barry” / 710N
    WRITING: “Barry” / starting now

I have Squid Game winning series and even I have Brian Cox winning Actor. I think the Emmys know that they owe him one, and he’s the clear choice over Strong this season.

I’ve been catching up on Euphoria and Zendaya feels pretty undeniable for the win again after episode 5.. she was incredible in that episode. And as much as I want Linney to win I just don’t really seem them going for her unfortunately and the only person who I can see winning over the former is Lynskey.

Unfortunately, I agree with this 🙁 I absolutely adore Zendaya and think she kills it, but I really was hoping Linney would finally win this year. I think Zendaya wins again for the same reason Julia Garner will also… The Emmys don’t have an issue giving repeat wins when those repeat wins are undeniable based off of material and performance.

Lena Headey > Sarah Snook, in terms of HBO ice queen supporting actresses in major juggernaut series winners. If Lena couldn’t do it, Sarah won’t.

I love Squid Game and I’m predicting it to just eek out an upset series victory, but I’m also quite unsure why people are so invested in Hoyeon as an actress. Her character is extraordinarily memorable and she was fine, but was also clearly a novice.

And Seehorn. Good God. She’s amazing, but why would the acting branch go from snubbing her six times in a row to giving her the win? It literally makes no logical sense.

Based off of season alone, this is Julia Garner’s to lose. There is simply no touching her given the material she had this season. I think Ricci and Arquette are more likely spoilers than Snook and Hoyeon, but agree with general consensus that Sweeney / Cameron are at the bottom of the list.

Sorry for the plethora of unpopular opinions, but this is definitely the ‘hope-dicting’ category of the year for y’all.

I would be surprised if Bateman missed but I also don’t think he does anything this season to warrant a nomination. I’m predicting him purely because he’s historically gotten in and his larger role on the show

Full disclosure that I’m a huge fan of the show, but anyone predicting that Bateman misses is letting their own personal feelings infiltrate their decision making. He got in for Season 1 when the show didn’t even get in for the series (and without Linney and Ozark), so why in hell would he miss for the final season when the show is in the Top 3 for series?

I’m predicting Paulson currently- I definitely would not be surprised if she missed, but I feel like she’d be such an easy name check especially due to her domination in ACS1. I personally think she’d be very deserving too, Impeachment was far from perfect but I really liked her as Tripp.

I’m predicting Paulson, Feldstein, Owen, Falco AND Series. While I understand if folks think that’s excessive, I just don’t think they’re going to go from giving the show the Series Emmy twice to having the third season drop off completely. They will definitely have watched the show, and all four performances are genuinely very good (especially the 2 leads, who are in a barren category). Something to think about.

I’ve been saying girl is far from a lock, like several people are saying. Don’t really see any reason for her to be happening, when there’s enough alternatives and her material doesn’t warrant a nom. She also couldn’t happen for s2, when the show exploded and got 9 acting noms.

Well, there are people who do feel strongly about the performance, including myself. She’s my favorite performance on the show (along with Cox + Braun). If we all of a sudden want to limit Succession’s acting nominations, can we start by admitting that Macfadyen, Culkin, Strong and Snook are actually pretty average, and sacrifice one of them instead?

I do know this last part will be considered heresy, but honestly, I really don’t get it. I think those four performances range from mediocre (Macfadyen) to downright bad (Culkin).

What are folks’ thoughts on if Richard Thomas and/or Veronica Falcon have any shot to make it into the supporting races for ‘Ozark’?

If you can’t see that Succession and Severance are critiques of the same man as Squid Game, I can’t help you.

I am not the poster of the comment you’re responding to here, but for the record, I find this incredibly condescending. I don’t think the poster needs you to clarify who / what Succession / Severance / Squid Game are critiquing (the critiques are not exactly subtle), but that’s also not the point of their comment. They said that Succession / Severance were ‘white man centered shows’, which they are. The shows may be critiquing capitalism, but in how the creators chose to do so they ended up with shows with nearly all white casts – and regardless of the shows’ themes, that decision was an intentional one and it is not above reproach.
