Drake – 6.1m, 5.9m, 5.6m
Drivers License – 5.6m + 6.1m + 5.7m
Adele – 5.4m
Personally, I anticipated 6.5m US and 20m global before I heard the song. Afterwards, I lowered to 5m US and 15m global due to the theme and vibe. 5.4m and 19.7m beat my projections.October 16, 2021 at 1:03 pm #1204522035
I’m bummed a little bit by the numbers in the U.S. I feel that she’s not gonna do as well in the U.S. She’ll have great numbers but not sure if she’ll surpass 1M. Tiktok culture really took over Gen Z. And Adele’s music is probably not going to be popular there.
I strongly believe she’d pass 1m. Adele is clearly targeting middle-aged adults for pure sales. No one writes a song about divorce, adressed to their child, and expect Gen-Z to relate. For a track with such a theme and nothing single-ish about it, 5.4m is behemoth.October 16, 2021 at 2:40 am #1204521527
Underwhelming by which metric? No hits or no acclaim for its singles? Have you secretly listened to the album or something?
I’m not implying that I believe Bruno would win Adele, but claiming the album is underwhelming so far is an unfounded and subjective assertion.October 16, 2021 at 2:25 am #1204521523
Fuck, Columbia should have released a special CD for Industry Baby last week, LNX could have gotten another No 1 before the Adelecalypse. Its estimated chart point is so close to Stay’s.October 15, 2021 at 3:22 pm #1204520951
Maybe it’s just me but I found the song incredibly undercooked and kinda mediocre. Sounds like a bad Lewis Capaldi demo.
I did wish for an uptempo retro soul-ish sound, like Rolling In The Deep and Rumour Has It.
I think she noted in her interview with Capital FM that she never knew it was gonna be the first single, it was too Adele, and the album won’t actually follow suit.October 15, 2021 at 1:36 pm #1204520742
Adele is coming for all those first day/week streaming records.October 14, 2021 at 8:05 am #1204518464
Again, you prophets of doom need to wait till tomorrow and next before predicting the Album’s performance.October 14, 2021 at 8:03 am #1204518454
What is going on here? Adele got married in 2016 (28y) and divorced in 2019 (31y). Its makes perfect sense to assume the marriage began failing around 2018 (30y).October 13, 2021 at 5:16 pm #1204517803
Waiting for the streaming numbers now shes releasing to every format.

Beyonce missed her best forseeable AOTY chance by not releasing this cycle, it’s that simple. The weeping and gnashing of teeth won’t unfuck that fuckery.October 8, 2021 at 6:54 pm #1204509988
Because her sales, Chart history, grammy streak and public acceptance are unmatched in this 21st Century, even with no outrageous marketing, cheap publicity, attention whoring, gimmicks or groundbreaking novelty.October 8, 2021 at 1:52 pm #1204509616
Coming for #2!!
While it feels like a mistake to release on Swift’s day, Bruno particularly has never been the type to have lofty debuts, his longevity is however insane, I doubt either artist or their label/management is worried. Andy is not really a chart-topper so I’m only mentioning Bruno.
We all saw D&H debut at 3 with meagre 65k and how it has been certified 7x platinum, spent the most weeks on Hot 200 last decade and is the most-streamed album from 2010. Only about 5 other albums from the 2010s has been certified as much.
UJ debuted with less than 200k too but has been certified 6x platinum so far, only 10 other albums earned up to 6x last decade. It is also the 3rd most-streamed album of 2012. 24K magic never reached No1 but ranked 2nd on billboard the sequel year-end with its 9 tracks.
Honestly, I am not worried about him. The last time I did was when Uptown Funk was initially released. Look how big it became, 8.1m US digital sales + 1.9B US streams according to Nielsen end of decade report, Billboard insists on 12m pure sales, that’s 20x+ platinum eitherway next time it would be certified. I don’t expect the new album’s debut to match Swift’s at all but I anticipate a more solid chart run and another No1 single if Adele takes it Easy on Them.
