I’m sorry to BTS stans but Butter is terrible. Dynamite getting in last year was undeserved but at least understandable, there is no reasonable explanation to put Butter over Gaga and Tony, SZA and Doja, Maroon 5 and Megan, Cardi and Lizzo, AJR, Bad Bunny and Jhay Chortez, Olivia and Joshua, Dua and Miley (or DaBaby), Demi and Ariana, etc.
No one is putting Butter over them. The obsession with BTS and Butter is weird.August 2, 2021 at 7:51 pm #1204378120
We will start letting Butter & PTD drop in 3, 2, 1. I fund AND buy & my finances are fine. Yes, until years end. I am not alone. This is not a concern. BE did VERY well. Life Goes On debuting at #1, an almost all Korean track? YES YES YES. We supported it fine. If the Coldplay collab is a single we will support it. I am well aware of their release schedule history. I too believe a new album is coming in September. We are READY. Trust me. It will set a new standard. No issues. This is my last post on these theories. Why do you keep pushing this narrative? No offense. I am assuming you are ARMY in this thread but DAMN. No issues, no problems, ARMYs are not broke, our support system is the healthiest it has ever been. I CAN’T WAIT.
I see armys already exhausted from trying to keep Butter #1 every week. At this rate funds will be exhausted by the time the new album, title track and Coldplay collab will come out. Obviously it’s going to do good the first week because armys are usually good at buying the first week. It’s much easier to maintain a single’s longevity than two singles and an album’s longevity at the same time. Armys need to stop trying to keep Butter at #1 and trying to break records. It already got #1 9 times. I saw people complaining already about people who were not aiming for it to go #1 next week and they were getting attacked for it. It’s ridiculous. Armys still want Butter to be #1 every week forever. There’s no point in wasting more money to make it go #1 every week. I’m sure people have heard it went #1 9 times. All I was saying we should start saving money and start letting it fall gently so we can have money for the comeback. It seems like a lot of armys don’t know how hard it is to make a song go #1 and think it’s so easy. It’s not easy. Just want to make sure people know that the songs that went #1 all had several versions and had website sales. LGO went #1 with 1 version but had lots of physicals plus website sales but free fell after. Without those it’s extremely difficult to go #1. There’s nothing wrong with that.August 2, 2021 at 7:30 pm #1204378074

I don’t think the chances of “Butter” getting in are very good. “Dynamite” was closer to a hit single than “Butter” is. I’m under the impression that pretty much only their fanbase is listening to that song. I don’t see it anywhere. Not on the radio, not even on random Instagram Stories Apparently they have a song with Coldplay coming soon. That seems more likely, but it has to crossover to the GP. Like “Dynamite” did.
If Coldplay’s team pushes the song maybe but I don’t know if BTS’ team would be happy with that song getting nominated over Butter. If Butter even gets nominated it’s not going to win. They would have a better chance with the Coldplay collab. Votes for BTS could also be split between the two songs and they could not get nominated at all.August 2, 2021 at 4:26 pm #1204377831
BE did more than fine. According the IFPI charts from 2020 it was the 4th best selling album in the world. …and that was with the $50 Deluxe release only. ARMY has done nothing but grow in the last year. Their next album will be absolutely HUGE. Nobody will be broke. No worries. NONE. LETS. GO.
I’m referring to US performance not global. BE’s units did not do well with sales and streaming as did Life Goes On. Life Goes On only charted for 3 weeks on the Hot 100. The shortest time for a #1 song. It did worse than Trolls. Everyone is going to be exhausted with funds by the time the new album, Korean title track, and the Coldplay collab comes out. Armys have been buying for over 2 months straight. Do u really think armys will be able to continue to buy until the end of this year? Singles are easier to chart since it’s $0.69 but albums are like $15 for digitals. Physical albums are $30. So obviously I’m concerned about the longevity of the new BTS album. The Coldplay BTS collab is coming out next month in September and the new BTS album is probably coming out next month at the earliest too. They will probably perform the new title track at the VMAs. Why do I think the album is coming out in September? Mots7 was released 10 months after MotsP. BE was released 9 months after Mots7 was released. BE came out in November so most likely the new album will drop in September at the very earliest. There’s no way they are not dropping an album before the end of this year. Armys need to start letting Butter and PTD slowly fall and start saving $.August 2, 2021 at 2:42 pm #1204377642
Oh brother. If something 6 years knowing this fandom has taught me, is ARMYs will always find money for BTS. Like, always. Somehow. If BTS/HYBE/Columbia/Whoever find themselves a good date to release, tease it it smartly, come back with an interesting concept (with the 2-4 versions everyone likes) and have a decently priced album (no $50 deluxe edition bs), they will be fine. I’ve been seeing more goals focused on longevity and keeping their next album at #1 for more weeks, so I wouldn’t get discouraged yet. Poeple said Butter/Dynamite would free fall too and we see how that’s turned out, for better or for worse.
ON had 2 versions the original and Sia’s version. It also had website sales so we were able to get it to #4. My Universe will only have one version so I think it could possibly get in the top 10 the first week but after that it will free fall. We never got a BTS feature in the top 10 before so we will see what happens. This doesn’t include Savage Love since it was already #8 before the 2 BTS SL remixes dropped. I’m just concerned because BE didn’t do well in the following weeks after it was released since armys were exhausted with maintaining Dynamite’s position for the Grammys. We saw how Life Goes On fell with 1 version and it had digital website sales, vinyls, and cassettes. My Universe won’t have website sales for the digitals. The new album will be dropping soon along with the new title track and Coldplay collab. I’m concerned about longevity for those upcoming releases.July 29, 2021 at 1:27 pm #1204370165
An established artists fandom if big enough will carry the weight of most releases as the fandom grows. Eight years & 240+ songs in ARMY is of course massive at this point, still growing & as they are our faves we will support them as best we can. As Dyna hit #5 on pop radio & Butter is currently #7 let’s wait & see if it will pass it. Still kinda early in the radio game. The new album & single is NOT going to flop, longevity or otherwise. Honestly, NO worries that will happen. IMO a new album will likely be released in Sept. We know they have been writing & working on it for awhile as they have mentioned here & there. It’s likely completed. …and I don’t think ARMYs will be broke. We have always bought out everything, recorded or otherwise. I know my paycheck is regular, (thank God!) I think most ARMYs have money coming in on the regular. Seriously, don’t you think? Maybe one more week to break a record that we tied this week then these singles will start to SLOWLY step down. As for My Universe, that will be up to Coldplay to figure out of course Grammys wise as it is on their album w/ a BTS subunit feature it appears. ARMYs will support it if it is released as a single, same as we support their solo efforts and the way we supported SL remix to #1, it wasn’t OT7 either. I’m excited for their new music! All these concept pictures we have been continually getting, they must make sense somewhere! LOL! Call me a clown but I believe an album will be announced ANY time now!
SL Remix was easier to get to #1 due to there being two versions a clean and explicit version. It was already in the top 8 of the Hot 100 and only needed 35k sales to reach #1. With the new Coldplay single it will be really difficult to get that song in the top 10 with only one version. Also Coldplay doesn’t sell digital singles on their website either. I can’t find higher power on there. So there will be no website sales for the digital single. I remember it was a pain in the butt trying to get armys to support the sl Remix. If all the members were in the song it would be easier but due to not everyone being the song it will be difficult. Everyone is burnt out on funds due to trying to have Butter be #1 every week. I’m telling u everyone is going to be broke by the time the new singles and album comes out. They both will do good for the first week then free fall.July 26, 2021 at 11:15 am #1204363979
I think My Universe’s chances depend on the treatment Coldplay’s team gives it and how people receive the song. If it manages to take off and they play their cards right, they might have a decent hit on their hands. However, I genuinely don’t see BTS (and ARMYs, most of all) pushing for a song that has half the group missing, the Butter FYC poster also makes obvious their campaign is focused somewhere else. Anyways, do y’all believe the theory of a Sept. album? At first I believed it as there would many events they could attend in their NY trip to promote it and I haven’t seen any push for BE so far, but they seem to be focusing on PTD
It’s a shame that they’re focused on Butter for the Grammys. Are they trying to only get nominated or actually win? Butter is not winning BPDG. Upbeat dance music usually never wins BPDG. The only time was last year because it’s Lady Gaga. I’m not sure if Butter will get nominated either. Usually only one group/band gets nominated and it could probably go to Coldplay or Maroon 5. BTS have a better chance at winning with My Universe than with Butter. I hope BTS release another single in September and push that one for the Grammys because Butter is just not going to do it. Since Coldplay is playing at the IHeartRadio festival it looks like whichever single they release in September is going to be pushed on the radio. I wonder if it’s My Universe.July 26, 2021 at 11:08 am #1204363945
I’m so happy for them. Deserved. Why do I always see people saying that Butter has not been the hit Dynamite was when while Dyna WAS a smash the overall metrics across the board for Butter are even BETTER. SMH. Meanwhile: been enjoying Hobi on VLive today, he’s really marathoning w/ us despite the time it is in SK! I could watch that man dance ALL day. He’s amazing.
The gp actually liked Dynamite more than Butter. Butter is just being carried by the fandom to be honest. I’m worried about the new single and album flopping when it comes to longevity whenever those get released due to armys being broke by that time. It’s time to let Butter and PTD drop slowly so ppl have $ for the new single and album. Dynamite did much better on radio than Butter did. It just seems like Butter did better due to it getting a lot of audience and spins in the 1st week.July 24, 2021 at 11:25 am #1204360939
Usually only one group/band gets nominated for the BPDG category so I’m not sure who it’s going to be. I’m not sure if Butter will make it. Dynamite was an instant bop but Butter is a growing song. The more you listen to it you like it but not on the first listen. BPDG seems a lot stronger this year than last year.July 21, 2021 at 6:28 pm #1204357188
Butter and My Universe could both get nominated in ROTY but not BPDGP! Although loud and annoying ot7 Armys overweight solo stans.
Really? Is it possible to get nominated for Record of the Year without getting nominated on pop? Solo stans are more loud and annoying than ot7 stans. Solo stans make the fandom look so toxic by attacking journalists and freaking out if a member doesn’t speak. They count each line and second every member is shown… pleaseJuly 21, 2021 at 5:18 pm #1204357109
Some ARMYs won’t support just because the solo stans are going to be in high gear, but the majority of ARMYs will. We all know that individual collabs are not new & most ARMYs have always supported any & all projects the guys take on. That being said, I do believe Butter will get in BPDG & be their nom. Perhaps My Universe in ROTY depending on how it does & IF it is a single release. Will either win? Who knows…but I believe noms for both are likely. Just IMO & wishful thinking.
That’s what I meant by not all armys supporting it due to solo stans. If My Universe got nominated for Record of the Year it would get nominated for BPDG too. Can an artist get nominated twice in a category if they are on a featuring? Could BTS get nominated for Butter and for My Universe in BPDG because it’s a featuring or is that not allowed? I guess we’ll see if My Universe becomes Coldplay’s single in September. Higher Power didn’t do that well on radio so I don’t know if they are going to submit that or try with a different songJuly 21, 2021 at 3:37 pm #1204356857
My Universe is a pretty incredible song. I hope it get released soon.
The song is so good. I can see it being a radio hit. I think this song has a chance to get nominated for BPDG if they release it in September. The only thing is a lot of armys probably won’t support it. I think this song has a higher chance of getting nominated over Butter. I think Butter might not make the cutMay 16, 2021 at 2:35 am #1204257040
I saw people worried about radio and playlisting, but to me Columbia sending a dozen trucks to promote Butter says a lot about where the focus is. They probably just want another “Label with the most #1’s” thing again like last year
Yep. They also took advantage of the buses that BH paid for and while promoting Butter they played other up and coming songs too for radio. A radio dj said in his insta live that they got to hear other songs too besides Butter. Probably the new Lil Nas X single and other new songs coming out from ColumbiaMay 11, 2021 at 6:12 pm #1204251618
I remember reading an interview about Dynamite and they said they made the lyrics simple and easy to sing along to because that’s what radio likes.
A dj said that Usher is mentioned in the song. So will the song go something like I’m smooth like Butter? Smooth like Usher?May 8, 2021 at 4:27 pm #1204247316
A lot of the djs who’ve listened to Butter have said it was good. Most said the song was fire and a summer bop. One listened to it twice because it was so good. I wonder if they are overhyping it for likes and engagement from armys, if Columbia asked them to hype it up, or if it’s really that good.
