I think the producers know the winners already! They move categories where A-listers won to the main show. The random movement of categories between pre show and main show every year just proves that
Well Ben Winston is not even hiding it at this point. He wants to accept his grammy on the main show which he’s producing for the show which he produced! Kinda embarassing but idk this could mean they can also easily change the winners… The Grammys keep stooping lower every day!

*If* they go according to the votes, Adele, Beyonce and Brandi would be top 3. There’s TOO MUCH vote splitting in poo category. And Bey suffers from 1 fact that of she wins AOTY, 50-60 people will win AOTY in a single night. I don’t think the academy would like that.

She just wanted to do a tribute to her friend Tony Bennett. Her category wasn’t even in the telecast. They just confirmed her late to create a last minute hype.
Idk. Having Gaga on the lineup will pull more viewers and they wouldn’t miss an opportunity like that. They would’ve used her name from the beginning to pull in viewers. And normally all the tribute performances will be announced in the beginning. All the ads would’ve been “Gaga tribute to Tony Bennett only on Grammys” or sumn like that.
But what you said could be true too. But personally I think it’s not because the lineup was mid from the beginning and looked like they had to come up with something.

Even now if all the big names decline, they prolly change the winners to invite some of them or give away them to those who’re there.

Gaga’s last minute performance and Bey’s sudden attendence proves that.
It’ll happen again this year. If no big names are attending then they’ll prolly reveal they won sumn to them and make them perform/attend at the last minute.
