I really really hope Megan and Beyoncé open the show. Savage Remix is the perfect opener and a certified bop
Plus a great way to honor Black artists that have contributed so much to the cultural zeitgeist of the past year. If it’s anyone but them I will be extremely surprised

I don’t have any of them or anyone in general on ignore, but what can you expect from people that want to impose their opinion on others, but don’t get their way, right?
No this is a community we joined to share mutual love for awards shows and the music/arts industries. Name-calling is childish, take it to stan twitter. Imposing an opinion is different than analyzing critical acclaim, sales and trends to make predictions– you’re the one invading forums and shutting down people who disagree.
If you don’t think Taylor will win, I respect that–that’s the difference between you and other posters. Take the drama OUT of here and let us enjoy the damn forum, especially in a year like this.

ReplyFebruary 22, 2021 at 10:42 am #1204054650Folklore for AOTY but damn, HAIM’s album is just simple pleasure. I LOVE that they’re collabing and wouldn’t OPPOSE a collab album…
Plus WIMPtIII has reaaaaallly good bonus tracks I am really enjoying
ReplyFebruary 21, 2021 at 2:19 pm #1204053250Can anyone explain what’s the deal behind these archaic voting blocks that everyone uses in their arguments? Why does a pop voter HAVE to vote for a pop album in the general field? Maybe they found the r&b record more credible or maybe they liked the country record more? I feel like a lot of predictions go wrong because of these blocks. They’re ok for estimates I guess but in general… an album’s overall popularity/performance/critical and commercial success is bound to influence more people than it’s given credit for. Esp with the grammys not awarding flops anymore I think more people vote out of their traditional blocks than anyone really takes into account.
This is exactly what I tried to convey but sloppily did–genre voters aren’t bound to their genres.
ReplyFebruary 21, 2021 at 2:19 pm #1204053248Why does everyone think that every person of each genre votes ONLY for their genre? Yes, it happens generally, but to assume that an entire bloc will go somewhere is just unwise-to say the entire country sect won’t vote for her because she moved from pop is just foolish–folklore is just a good album and regardless of genre, I think she will pull enough votes to win (acclaim, sales, stardom, the PR of having her win for a third time, I mean they obviously set her up for a reason!)
I love seeing everyone’s predictions and can happily disagree about this–just ready for March 14!
ReplyFebruary 20, 2021 at 12:07 pm #1204052023I love the prediction of Phoebe going 4/4 (though I love MTS) but do we really think she can beat Fiona and Brittany and even HAIM, which are three critically-adored albums too

February 5, 2021 at 2:41 pm #1204025718Anyone else think about how crazy it was to have Stevie Wonder win AOTY three times in four years?
That wouldn’t fly nowadays, with Taylor barely being able to maybe achieve it in 11 years. What was the narrative for Wonder back then? Back to back to back is so impressive and crazy for today

January 27, 2021 at 11:24 am #1204005192It will really be the Scammys if a woman of color doesn’t win BNA after having some of the biggest cultural moments of the year (Savage, Say So, WAP)
January 15, 2021 at 9:29 am #1203984913But to me, Green Book was the biggest travesty when Roma or BlackkKlansman were right there and absolutely mesmerizing…
ReplyJanuary 15, 2021 at 9:28 am #1203984911I truly love Laura Dern, but I never understood how she won when she had like 17 minutes of screen time and one good monologue…
ReplyJanuary 15, 2021 at 8:22 am #1203984833This thread has DIED, where did everyone go?!
That postponement really killed the hype for sure
