now what’s going on here…April 8, 2022 at 3:06 pm #1204909342
I’ve seen multiple posts along this line and I have a question. I’m new to the music side so I don’t know all of the intricate Grammy rules, but can an artists only have one collab submitted? Like, Camila couldn’t submit Bam Bam and Ed couldn’t submit TJATQ and Willow couldn’t submit Psychofreak so that they’re all eligible even though there are multiple contenders for the same person?
they can submit as many songs they want, but due to strategy most artists only submit one. now, if the artist has other collaborations it is up to whoever has ownership of the song to decide whether to submit or not. additionally, grammy rules say that in BPDGP it can only be one song nominated per artist.
justin bieber had multiple songs in contention for BPDGP last year (i think there were 4-5 songs in eligible); however, only one could be nominated
hope this makes sense!!April 8, 2022 at 8:53 am #1204908756
‘Psychofreak’ by Camila Cabello and Willow is actually a really good pop song. If it manages to become a hit and does well, I would rather see this in BPDGP than ‘Bam Bam’.
Her team would still submit Bam Bam bc it has Ed Sheeran’s name on it.
On the other hand, is WILLOW eligible for BNA? She wouldn’t be a bad contenderApril 7, 2022 at 4:25 pm #1204908077
Ghost is not a bad song, but I don’t expect it to be nominated across the board. It will probably get a BPSP nomination and, hopefully, that’s it.
I remember 2019 when many people here thought Maggie Rodgers would get nominated everywhere and then she only got into BNA. I think she’ll only be nominated again if she’s ever eligible for Best Alternative Music Album. But not this year. There’s no room left. lol
wait, who are the contenders for Best Alternative Music Album?April 7, 2022 at 7:39 am #1204907372
Familia by Camila Cabello for BPVA?April 6, 2022 at 10:00 am #1204906354
I came to the realization that we are 6 months into this eligibility period just last sunday, and now that I look at it, it definitely feels that there is barely any competition. BNA contenders aren’t as strong (in fact there is no frontrunner at all).April 5, 2022 at 4:23 pm #1204905457
That part. I think there could be a substantial amount of Adele fatigue among the voters and I’d like to see how she and these other artists fare in nominations before calling anything a lock.
Adele is definitely getting nominated across the board; but remember that first and final round voting are different. Now of course the previous ceremonies when Adele got nominated would definitely contradict what I just said, but anything can happen, is just a matter of who’s nominated and who gets momentum during final round voting.April 5, 2022 at 2:53 pm #1204905339
if we collectively believe that Adele is unbeatable, then let’s not predict at all and close the forum immediately until next year.
What’s the point of predicting if we believe that no one but Adele is winning?April 5, 2022 at 11:28 am #1204905103
she can’t. she is ineligible due to her experience in fifth harmony.
she can be a factor in r&b if the album does well and is as well received as all of her solo music has been so far.
the problem with Normani is that she releases good music but then dips and doesn’t promote it (not 100% her fault, but still) If she releases her album, she needs to gain momentum whether her goal is to get Grammy nominations or not.April 5, 2022 at 11:23 am #1204905091
normani hasn’t been nominated for a grammy, i don’t see how she would be
She is ineligible for the same reason Zayn and Harry Styles were, but if she gains momentum with her album (that i hope is actually coming this time) i can see her getting some r&b nomsNot now
