I’m struggling to understand why the movie needs such a huge budget. Is it because Scorsese doesn’t want to work with anyone else apart from De Niro and DiCaprio?? Is he again planning on using CGI to make the actors younger? Just use younger actors, it’ll be a lot better.
I’m also nervous that the movie is going to be really long again. Hopefully someone makes sure to cut the movie to a more 2-hour run. (If he’s really that pressed on a 3h+ movie, just release a director’s cut)

The Oscars aren’t strictly for movies popular in the US it’s the art of film and he obviously doesn’t understand that… dumbass
Tell that to all the people commenting how Parasite should’t have won (cough cough the leaked oscar ballot)… they all think that movies not in English belong in one category only.

Booksmart filmmaker Olivia Wilde is set to direct Kerri Strug biopic Perfect, The film, based on the book Landing On My Feet, A Diary Of Dreams by Strug and John P. Lopez, tells the true story of the gymnast’s triumph against the odds to win Team USA’s first gold medal at the 1996 Olympics.
I have to say I am not familiar with the story, but for some reason I immediately thought of Joey King for the role. If the script is good, I feel like she could go far.

The Bond theme is okay-ish. I listened to it this morning, and it didn’t really stick with me. Can’t wait for the movie though (Phoebe! Ana de Armas!).
If it is the only good song of the year, I am not going to be upset about it winning, but I also don’t see how LMM won’t compose a stellar track for In the Heights as well. Disney also has a ton of animated movies coming out, so there’s just no way that NTTD is a lock already.

I thought she was good, but nothing special when I first watched the movie. I can see how she won, even though I think there were other actresses with just as impressive performances (well only Florence, imo)

It seems this was initially a project for Jennifer Lawrence and Jamie Foxx, with Angelina Jolie getting a supporting role but all three actors passed so the roles were given to Robbie and Jordan, per Collider.

Promising Young Woman, No Time to Die, Tenet, The French Dispatch, Zola, The Assistant, and Black Widow. There will be more, but these are just the ones off the top of my head.

And they should capitalize on that. I’d recommend having the ceremony earlier in the day so that it maximizes the audience worldwide, say, at 15:00 LA time or earlier.
I make it a yearly thing to watch the Oscars live. My body hates me for it because I’m currently based in Europe so the show is on from 2 until 5:30. I wouldn’t mind having the show on earlier. I also don’t think it’s just Europeans who suffer from it. I follow people in the Eastern time zone on twitter and a lot of them tuned out because the show drags on and on.

Has David O Russell ever done it? PTA made and released “Inherent Vice” in 2014. I think Bale and Robbie will be busy with Thor 4 and Barbie pretty soon too.
It’s doable imo. American Hustle was also shot and released in 2013. Barbie is in the script phase last I read, so she’s free. Thor 4 is starting production (or have they started?) so that might be tough, but maybe they don’t need Bale for the entire shoot.

I admit I haven’t seen *all* the 2019 movies that *I* wanted to see, but this list is almost definitive. The top 5 won’t change.
- Pain and Glory
- Knives Out
- Marriage Story
- Jojo Rabbit
- Uncut Gems
- Ford v. Ferrari
I would also like to highlight how surprisingly good Long Shot (with Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen) was.

Is this the script that he was talking about during TIFF last year? One thing that surprises me is that Angelina Jolie is in it, it seemed to me that she was done with acting in non-children’s films and working on directing more.
