I’m shocked about Sunflower… they really seem to be clearing a path for Gaga there at least
I still think it will be a tough fight between I’ll Never Love Again and Spirit.. Never underestimate Bey when it comes to Grammys non-GF categoriesNovember 20, 2019 at 7:03 am #1203191652
I cannot believe that 7 rings is Ariana’s first General Field nom. 7 RINGS. not thank u, next??
Do the BRP have a hard on for the number 7 or sum between Ariana and Lil Nas X?
7 rings is actually a very well produced track.
And thank u, next lyrics aren’t all that. It might have a important meaning to her but its nothing impressive. Its just creativeNovember 19, 2019 at 7:03 am #1203186902
But if Bradley got in with the 33% rule he should be nominated for both AOTY and Soundtrack.
I forgot to check if the INLA writers had a nomination which would confirm Song Written for Visual Media but thats probably it
Somebody checked Hillary Lindsey and said she had 3 new nomsFebruary 10, 2019 at 6:19 pm #1202770041
Oh wow. Gaga probably thought she was winning SOTY
This Is America surprised.
No one can complain since it was the most acclaimed song of the year
no she didnt.. she said in her pop duo win she probably wouldnt have the opportunity to speak on the mental health issue so she did it at that moment..February 10, 2019 at 5:43 pm #1202769859
Alicia is ruining it ughFebruary 10, 2019 at 3:57 pm #1202769417
So All The Stars showing weakness confirms SOTY + ROTY is between Shallow and This is AmericaJanuary 23, 2019 at 4:17 am #1202745331
Grammys, she needs to perform and win. Don’t let Kendrick steal her spotlight at the very last minute.
Also this. Perfoming something off ASIB would be also crucial, since Kendrick, her biggest threat to the Oscar, will probably perform too and his performances always generates discussion.January 23, 2019 at 4:15 am #1202745330
BAFTA even if she´s not winning. She probably has a contract with Warner Bros because the main film of this era is the film, not the soundtrack. She can always record some thank you video for the grammy, I think it wouldn´t be the first time.
Also, the grammys did her really wrong in 2013/2014 so if Gaga really visits this forum: girl, fuck them.
ASIB probably wont win anything at the BAFTAs. And even if they do, WB and the film itself would be better off having win moments in two different awards shows, and one of them at each show delivering a speech would be great.
Attending the award show that they actually have a (big) chance of winning is far better than staying quietly in the audince seats watching other people win over you.
If Gaga bags SAG, maybe, maybe attending the BAFTA would be good for her. But if she loses it more reason to attend the Grammys.January 23, 2019 at 4:08 am #1202745329
Aparicio: when she announces her pregnancy to Sofia
Gaga: the bath scene is her best but she’s naked so it won’t be that
Colman: when she “faints”
Close: when she broke up with her husband or maybe “don’t paint me as a victim…”
McCarthy: court scene or the death of her cat
Gaga I’d be ok with her scene with her father after the grammys mess, theyre having breakfest. Its kinda subtle but Gaga conveys a lot of emotion there.January 15, 2019 at 9:23 pm #1202735877
Gaga should really go after simple roles like ASiB’s, and not boojie ones cause she’s gonna keep giving shit performances in those, like AHS: Hotel, and never gonna achieve further acclaim. She should do films with directors able to humble her the way Cooper did in ASiB, resulting in something genuine, and not pretentious. Of course, she might just want to do random roles just to experiment, rather than aim for awards.
Agree. I’d like to see her in a role like Cate’s in Blue Jasmine. I think she’d nail the “going crazy” part lol..December 16, 2018 at 7:12 pm #1202703019
I still say this is Kendrick’s best chance to win. Those other hip hop albums are not winning and are more likely to siphon from each other than from the Black Panther soundtrack. Black Panther is going into movie award season very hard, and this is attached to that massive juggernaut. I think it has mass appeal to win.
Every single album will likely be affected by a similar type of album being nominated. The Hip Hop albums will be affected more, but the Black Panther soundtrack stands out in that bunch.
I agree. I almost feel like saying if he can’t win for Black Panther, he won’t ever win. There’s two narratives here, his and BP’s. BP is doing great on getting film awards nominations, there’s no way it won’t impact at the Grammys.December 11, 2018 at 3:26 pm #1202698218
I think The Joke will take this. Not only is Brandi bound to get the passion votes, she’ll also take the country votes and will most likely get some votes from people who discover her after she got nominated. She has a really good chance. I don’t see Shallow because there’s The Middle amd In My Blood that will eat away some pop votes.
The Middle will also benefit from Country votes and steal some votes from The Joke/Brandi Carlile. Marren Morris has great support from her field, too.
That logic of vote splitting works for literally every song on SOTY and ROTY. Urban+rap songs will be the most affected by it.November 13, 2018 at 7:08 pm #1202674561
But you can be acclaimed, doesn’t mean you’re the most deserving. I think we have to take in consideration the credibility factor. Giving a Award for BA to Gaga over movie actresses ( we’re not in television anymore) will feel more like a joke. Especially with Glenn Glose or Viola Davis in the same category. They’ll have to think about it, plus the HFPA is the only televised award ceremony that seems accessible to Gaga. I don’t see her winning the SAG
I think it is pretty common knowledge that these awards aren’t solely based on merit. If the Oscars aren’t, let alone the Globes.
That credibility point is up for debate. If you think Gaga winning would be a joke, it’s your opinion and it shows the bias you have on Gaga. Would there be better contenders? Possibly. That happens everytime even at the Oscars.
What if McCarthy won? Would it be a joke because she simply doesn’t have much dramatic credentials as Glenn and Viola does? No, because the critical consesus is that her performance was great, which is Gaga’s case, too.November 13, 2018 at 3:12 pm #1202674433
If Gaga won in 2016 just because they wanted to celebrate a popstar, givr her a “Cinderella moment” and win some viewers because of it.. In a time Gaga wasn’t on top of her game, in a series that was in it’s least critically successful year, and for a role/performance critics didn’t really love… Imagine now that she has an actual acclaimed performance, in a acclaimed film, that happens to be huge in the Box Office, loved by the general public, while it’s soundtrack is doing great in the music charts, too.
Awarding Gaga now would be an even bigger moment for them, because she actually (kinda) deserves now.
The only thing that doesn’t work on Gaga’s favour at the Globes is that she’s sure winning Best Song, and they might not want to award her twice. Globes likes to spread the wealth (with La La Land as an exception, which ironically is the most recent precedent for ASIB)November 5, 2018 at 3:42 pm #1202669081
Well lucky for you I don’t think she’s going to be campaigning that extensively because her Las Vegas residency runs all throughout award season.
It’s not like she even needs that much of campaign. Her performance was very well received by critics, the box office and public reception basically confirms her as a nominee. Add the respect she built this last years with Tony Bennett, Sound of Music, Super Bowl, Til’ It Happens to You..
But of course she’ll campaign a little because, well, she’s Lady Gaga. And there’s nothing wrong with campaigning.
