The Last Jedi – How many nominations will it get?
Well, we now know the answer is 4, taking the same categories FORCE AWAKENS did, except for Film Editing (which in itself was a weird anomaly for the franchise). I don’t see it winning any of these, but that brings the fran

Oscar Best Picture Contenders 2018 (Elimination Game)
Note: Not many are talking about these but from what I could tell but I would say don't count out: MPaul Hardister
This game is over. However, I wanted to just take a look back and compliment all the Derbyites who participated. For a game started six months ago and ended well before the award season, the top ten Oscar contenders you came up with was impressive:

Best Picture Race: Favorite Frontrunner, Least Favorite, & Excited to See
Favorite: Three Billboards Least Favorite:Dunkirk Excited to See: Phantom Thread and Lady Bird (SeeiCanadianFan
Simplified Analysis but if we subtract least favs from favs, we get: 1. Call Me By Your Name (6 - 1 = 5) 2. Three Billboards (6 - 2 = 4) 2. Lady Bird (4 - 0 = 4) ... a lot of films with one vote or less And then the bottom two: Dunkirk (3 - 9 = -6

What would you have wanted to be in that infamous envelope?
Lion hands Down! And I wish that mess would have happened for Supporting Actor. So Dev Patel or MiPaul Hardister
I understand it wrong as I assume that infamous envelope was the one that was given to Warren Beatty – copy of Best Actress. If so, then of course “Isabelle Huppert, Elle”. Any winner other than Emma Stone would get peop

Which Oscar category were you way off this year?
I only got 16/24, so I missed heaps, but my worst miss would have been Makeup and Hairstyling - I haPaul Hardister
I'm a huge Hidden Figures fan! Wish it had won but thought with only 3 nods the Academy didn't feel my love. Usually a movie with multiple song nominations wins something but not always. I voted for Disney for Globes but got burned so I said not aga

How would you rate the show overall?
Best ceremony that I have seen. Only Hugh Jackman's compares because they actually went to the trolovelylovely
Bringing the Matt Damon feud bits into the show was my favorite. Especially when Ben and Matt announced Original Screenplay and the band would get louder every time Matt spoke, that was too good.

Which Oscar race do you think this is the closest?
Actor, followed closely by supporting actorEddy Q
^ Was there actually a "Denzel's never won SAG" campaign? I didn't think people generally knew about people who'd never won SAG. Most people probably think Nicole Kidman is a SAG-winner, for instance.

What influences you the most when predicting the Oscars?
Guilds, televised precursors, history and gut instinct.
I go for a sense of general buzz (hence why I'm picking Hidden Figures to win Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay) AND what the Academy has gone with in the past, the type of upsets and how they could have been predicted.

Coulda been an Oscar contender 2017
Best Actress: Hailee Steinfeld, "The Edge of Seventeen"kaziz
Midnight Special if it hadn't been released so goddam early. It came on a bunch of year end best lists which reminded me how beautiful it was, especially as a counterpoint to Arrival (I think Arrival was better, but they were both pretty great and to
