Whilst Paramount+ didn’t build the way I thought they possibly had the potential, they did double their below the line nominations and it’s my understanding that by late this year in the US a lot of the Showtime content will be folded in (which is their international strategy) and I would gather old CBS stuff will eventually come back too as library content.
Points, but I would feel a lot better if Goode had managed to get it, ngl.
July 16, 2022 at 9:30 am #1205016963How likely is it that Netflix submitted the show for the BAFTA Children & Young People Awards the way they’re being submitted for the Children’s and Family Emmys?
July 16, 2022 at 8:06 am #1205016904I want Jessica Chastain to avenge that SFAM snub so badly next year but George & Tammy being on Paramount+ is killing me.
July 16, 2022 at 8:03 am #1205016897(Your point still stands, but didn’t Jharrel Jerome win for When They See Us?)
July 16, 2022 at 4:41 am #1205016790Kit Connor wasn’t an option on the poll so all of those votes went to Joe Locke, I would guess.
July 13, 2022 at 1:23 am #1205013624Proud: Had Kaitlin Olson and Mare Winningham in at 100/1 odds, kept The Great leads in. Personally predicted Hesham Nazih for Moon Knight because I was obsessed with the main theme.
Embarrassed: I guess the This Is Us predictions?
ReplyJuly 12, 2022 at 2:39 pm #1205012736Deadline published an article that expands on the comment I left earlier:
ReplyAfter performers of color notched a record 49 acting and reality hosting Primetime Emmy nominations in 2021, the count this year has declined to 31, repping a 37% drop.
Still, this year’s figure is higher than 2019 when there were only 26 non-Caucasian actors and reality hosts.
Three Emmy categories were completely devoid of nominees from a diverse background: Lead Actress in a Limited/Anthology Series, Supporting Actor in a Limited/Anthology Series and Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
The TV Academy also came up short in recognizing Latino and Hispanic performers, with Oscar Isaac (Lead Actor Limited/Anthology Series, Scenes of a Marriage) and Colman Domingo (Guest Actor Drama, Euphoria) being the only two nominees.
In the acting categories those recognized included Sandra Oh (Lead Actress Drama, Killing Eve), Zendaya (Lead Actress Drama, Euphoria; the former Emmy winner a 2x nominee this year with a nod for the HBO series in Music and Lyrics), Lee Jung-jae (Lead Actor Drama, Squid Game), Quinta Brunson (Lead Actress Comedy, Abbot Elementary; also nominated in writing comedy series for the ABC show), Issa Rae (Lead Actress Comedy, Insecure), Donald Glover (Lead Actor Comedy, Atlanta), Oscar Isaac (Lead Actor Limited/Anthology Series, Scenes of a Marriage), Himseh Patel (Lead Actor Limited/Anthology Series, Station Eleven), Jung Ho-yeon (Supporting Actress Drama, Squid Game), Park Hae-soo (Supporting Actor Drama, Squid Game), Oh-Yeong-su (Supporting Actor Drama, Squid Game), Janelle James (Supporting Actress Comedy, Abbott Elementary), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Supporting Actress Comedy, Abbott Elementary), Sarah Niles (Supporting Actress Comedy, Ted Lasso), Toheeb Jimoh (Supporting Actor Comedy, Ted Lasso), Nick Mohammed (Supporting Actor Comedy, Ted Lasso), Tyler James Williams (Supporting Actor Comedy, Abbott Elementary), Bowen Yang (Supporting Actor Comedy, SNL), Natasha Rothwell (Supporting Actress Limited/Anthology Series, The White Lotus), Sanaa Lathan (Guest Actress Drama, Succession), Lee You-mi (Guest Actress Drama, Squid Game), Colman Domingo (Guest Actor Drama, Euphoria), Arian Moayed (Guest Actor Drama, Succession), Jerrod Carmichael (Guest Actor Comedy, SNL) and Sam Richardson (Guest Actor Comedy,Ted Lasso).
July 12, 2022 at 1:04 pm #1205012422Unless I’m mistaken isn’t he half Afro-Puerto Rican?
This is news to me, because when I looked him up after hearing his atrocious Spanish in Breaking Bad what I found said that his mother is African-American with no mention of his Puerto Rican heritage? Now I’m confused.
ReplyJuly 12, 2022 at 12:54 pm #1205012382Unfortunately that’s more representation than the Emmys usually give to Latinx actors (in most years it has only been Alexis Bledel and/or Giancarlo Esposito and they’re only eligible half the time).
I know you didn’t mean to but this reply actually makes it worse, Esposito is Italian, not Latino. 💀
ReplyJuly 12, 2022 at 12:37 pm #1205012337In “disappointed but not surprised” observations, I think Oscar Isaac and Colman Domingo are the only Latine nominees in the acting categories.

ReplyJuly 12, 2022 at 9:19 am #1205011246For the Marvel shows, Moon Knight was the most nominated (8 nominations), then Loki (6 nominations), then What If? (3 nominations), and lastly Hawkeye (2 nominations). Kind of wonder how Isaac would have done if SFAM and MK had been in different cycles.
July 12, 2022 at 8:42 am #1205010671Remembered my password just to rage about Paulson getting in but not Chastain. Electric chair to the Academy.
June 10, 2022 at 10:07 am #1204979372Oscar Isaac once got a letter from a fan with a moon on it for his #MoonKnight role that read, “My mother would’ve disowned me if I didn’t say something, as a person of color, about how much it means to me that you’re out there doing these things” https://t.co/pQG6MXHE4u pic.twitter.com/E8yUSl0lgt

Weird choice to completely disregard the only POC that is top 5 in the combined odds from the 4 categories, but okay.
