I came #1 in the prediction centre and just wanted to thank everyone that regularly posts in these forums! I don’t post here often (english isn’t my first language), but I come here every day to see what everybody has to say and it is one of my favourite parts of the day. Thank you all for always being so entertaining and humorous, but still nice and insightful! Thank you for letting me “steal” all of your ideas! 😉
July 12, 2021 at 11:59 am #1204340241Sorry if that sounded degrading lmao. I was just curious. I’m predicting an under-performance for the show but your point about HBO is making me think. Perhaps we’re underestimating the extents of which they’ll do well this year (maybe at least on the limited side?)
It didn’t! It just made me laugh! 😉

I do think that predicting an under-performance is the safe-ish thing to do, but, to me, it just feels wrong somehow (I am not even a big fan of the show, the cancellation had no impact on me)! But maybe I am overthinking it and making others overthink as well! ahahahJuly 12, 2021 at 11:22 am #1204340190Interesting. Are you predicting an acting over-performance?
The “Interesting” is screaming “Dumb” ahahah
Yes and no. I am predicting one more than goldderby (6 with Aunjanue Ellis), but, when making my predictions, I wasn’t thinking “Lovecraft is going to overperform”. I just went category by category and when I got to the end I noticed the 17 nominations and thought “dumb”. But then, I was going to change it and noticed that the following HBO drama series I had were “Euphoria” at 7 and “Perry Mason” at 5 which just made me think that betting against HBO was somehow dumber… Don’t get me wrong, I know that all signs point to it so please don’t drag me (and please don’t die on this hill with me ahahah), but I don’t know. Not convinced. So that and the fact that I think that nobody knows exactly what to do with the show (5 and 20 nominations somehow both seem plausible to me and I saw other people saying the same) made me keep it.
Hope this helped! If tomorrow’s indiewire’s headline is “End of an era! HBO falls to third, while Netflix and Disney+ steam ahead” please think of me! ahahah

She sees herself as a Rock performer… I do think that they will move her to Pop, but if she keeps working with these rock veterans I think that she has a chance of making it in… I mean: she has Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks on the album + covers of Blondie, The Cranberries (on the album) plus this Metallica cover and so on… It may be enough for them to see her in a different light and let it pass. Although, I think that she would have had a better chance before the change of rules. I feel like the committees may be more strict this year…

March 20, 2021 at 2:26 pm #1204147397Ok, thank you! I know it hasn’t been renewed for season 3, but lets hope they don’t cancel it! I think the show is brilliant!
March 20, 2021 at 2:18 pm #1204147379Just to clarify (don’t want to be rude), but you think as in “I have a feeling” or “I think I read it somewhere”?
March 20, 2021 at 2:13 pm #1204147358Kingsley Ben-Adir is of Asian descent? Ok.
I also wonder (and this is unrelated to recent events) if next year with both Sandra Oh and Maya Erskine on the final seasons of their respective shows, the narrative for the first Asian-American to win a lead acting Emmy will only grow.
Is PEN15 ending with the next part of season 2?
February 9, 2021 at 3:19 pm #1204033776For those who asked about Welcome to Chechnya, it’s a HBO documentary about the LGBTIA community in Russia. They used deep fake to preserve the identities of the interviewees. That explains the shortlist nomination.
I think it was a very interesting choice and I hope it gets nominated.
I was just about to post the indiewire review… This has VFX nominee written all over it!
