26. “Find A Way”September 2, 2020 at 3:48 pm #1203682773Newcomer Jeremy Pope is not equivalent to respected veteran and Emmy favorite Regina King.
I guess I didn’t make myself clear. I’m sorry! When I said they were both “loved” i didn’t meant in the same way… It was about both of them being in very “hot” place in their careers, one being a career veteran finally starting to get respect and much more work/acknowledgment of said work and the other getting groundbreaking achievements (two tony noms) and the promise that comes with that (“loved” much more in a Zendaya way). It also has to do with the fact that they both are/were sole back nominees in their respective field, nominated for topical subjects in years paying a lot of attention to those subjects (being almost the same unfortunately: black lives matter/black representation), BUT I want to make clear that I absolutely DO NOT think that that is/was the only reason they are winning/won. I just think it helps… That’s all!
while Mescal is being pushed more than Biel was.
Is he? I remember Biel being everywhere and a lot of people saying she was the frontrunner based on both performance and campaigning.
I cannot with this equating of Jeremy Pope and Regina King. I will refrain from saying more.
Why? It was just a thought that pop into my head… I’m not saying I’m right or anything, just thought it was interesting and wanted to share/see what everybody thought… Sorry if it was so ridiculous or mentioned before… :/
September 2, 2020 at 2:05 pm #1203682440I have been thinking:
Pope = Regina King (show flopped, but they seem loved in the industry)
Mescal = Jessica Biel (fan favourite)
Ruffalo = Laura Dern (critic favourite in dark/pessimistic show)
Irons = Michelle Dockery (lead of acclaimed show, but doesn’t really have a chance)
Jackman = Edie Falco/Sarah Paulson (non-starters)Thoughts??
If someone made this comparison before, I’m sorry, but I didn’t see it.July 12, 2020 at 2:09 pm #1203582816Comedy Actor: 5

1. The Mandalorian: “The Child”
2. Modern Family: “Finale”
3. Schitt’s Creek: “Happy Ending”
4. Silicon Valley: “Exit Event”
5. The Kominsky Method: “A Thetan Arrives”6. Dead to Me: “You Know What You Did”
7. Ballers: “Players Only”
8. Family Guy: “Yacht Rocky”
9. Dave: “Jail”
10. The Good Place: “Whenever You’re Ready”Sorry to bother, but why no multi-camera nomination?
Edit: I saw that there were no multi-camera nominations in the previous years, is the rule new or are they just not enforcing it?
ReplyJuly 17, 2019 at 3:51 pm #1202981965Some thoughts/questions:
“This Is Us” gains Chris Sullivan (poor Justin Hartley…) and Mandy Moore, bus misses casting… Too much competition, but still…
“Rel” in cinematography – Just cancel the category! “Barry” overperforms, but misses cinematography – Weird! “Ray Donovan” in cinematography… I can’t with this branch!
There is no way “Good Omens” made top 5 in costumes. They just put it because it was the only limited series without caring about the rules (they clearly (to me) don’t say that).
All single camera picture editing categories had ties?
Why only 4 in production design half hour?

Escape At Dannemora – Episode 6July 11, 2019 at 7:33 am #1202970639Good Omens is the only limited series or movie that submitted for fantasy/sci-fi costumes, so it gets the reserved proportional limited/movie slot in that category by default.
In the rules for costume categories they all (area 23, 24 and 25) say that “The number of nominees will be proportional to the number of submissions in each genre” but in fantasy/sci-fi costumes and period costumes (area 24 and 23) there is no “with at least one nomination for each” as it is case with contemporary costumes (25)…Mistake? I don’t have Good Omens because of that… What do you think? I am almost sure a previous version of the rules also had it in period costumes, but now it is not there…
