There are stats that better describe broadcast network TV’s decline at SAG and elsewhere than I could here:

You literally don’t understand how each show presents this differently and in a highly gendered way, Phillip. Anyway it’s the least of my issues with the awful Chuck Lorre writing. Please be gone, you’re almost stalking me now.
See this is a discussion board. This is a discussion. No one is stalking you, I think you have a warped sense of what stalking is. Are you related to Babypook? Lol.December 9, 2019 at 8:14 pm #1203228328
What SHOULD happen next year onward: TGP will be eligible for 2021 Globes consideration as the last 5 episodes air next month. If there is a repeat of today, NBC needs to seriously consider deep-sixing the Globes once their contract with them is up. Buy them out. But they won’t. Why should they keep broadcasting an awards when they and the rest of the Big Four keep getting snubbed?
Maybe just televise the movie portion of the awards?
Lol, and there it is, all about The Good Place lol.December 9, 2019 at 1:31 pm #1203227708
No – obviously I need to spell it out for you. On TKM, the age difference is expected. On Grace and Frankie it’s a joke, it’s out of the ordinary, it’s unusual, it’s worth commenting on. For Michael Douglas or any old cantankerous, useless man, neither he nor the writers would ever allow him to be paired with a woman even roughly close to his own age. It would age and diminish him. The device is that her youthfulness is part of his character’s ‘charm’ (pass the bucket). See: skinny scarf, sunglasses.
So 15 year age difference is a huge problem, got it. Its not really but whatever.December 9, 2019 at 10:14 am #1203227291
Oh poor Michael Douglas the victim of ageism, on so many levels – oh please. Like how it’s impossible for him to be with a women nearly his own age?
And he’s incredibly creepy and arrogant in the show. You know he’s not acting in TKM, except his love interest in season 1 was probably slightly older than he usually goes for. But at the end of the day, it’s just a terribly unfunny, cliched show that reeks of multicam era sitcom jokes and writing.
She’s his love interest in season 2 also. She’s 58 and he is 75.
Jane Fonda is 82 and her love interest on her show (Peter Gallagher) is 64.
So I don’t see people complain that Jane’s character isnt hooking up with a man her own age…December 9, 2019 at 9:40 am #1203227151
I know I haven’t presented any evidence to dispute what you think, but this isn’t truly about it anymore. This is the first time in the awards’ history that broadcast network TV was turned away by the virtual HFPA bouncer. Ever, perhaps. Even PBS was shut out. And that’s a huge snub and hopefully it will be duly reported as such when all the “snub” stories are written by day’s end.
Network TV sucks for the most part. They need to step their game up, its that simple.
They don’t deserve to be nominated just because they are network TV, this isnt the 50s, the television landscape has changed.December 9, 2019 at 8:33 am #1203226998
Philip, I didn’t mention any one show. It’s the disrespect that the HFPA showed toward broadcast network TV today. It makes the Critics Choices seem almost palatable in comparison.
I can’t even exert the energy to be outraged. They have bludgeoned it into oblivion. And things aren’t going to improve Wednesday with SAG. We’ll have the usual namechecks of Douglas, Fonda and Tomlin etal.
O honey. You are so transparent, we know it is all about Ms. Bell and The Good Place.December 9, 2019 at 6:33 am #1203226487
Hey, that’s what happens when you spike the coffees of the 90 or so HFPA members with CBD oil.
I’ve got no F’s left to give at this point. None. It is an all-out assault on broadcast network television and if none of you can see that, you’re cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Zero nominations. NBC needs to seriously reconsider broadcasting the Globes once their contract with them is up. Or just broadcast the movie portion of the awards.
Haha poor The Good Place 😘😘😘December 9, 2019 at 5:37 am #1203226094
They always manage to snub the acclaimed Netflix comedy series (GLOW, Russian Doll) in favor of The Kominsky Method.
Also, they nominate Sacha Baron Cohen and Christopher Abbott (performances which no talked about), but they snub Jharrel Jerome.
Maybe they just liked them better? Everyone bitches that the nominees are too much a like and then when they move on to do their own thing, people scream, WHY AREN’T THEY THE SAME!!!December 9, 2019 at 5:32 am #1203226056
As I expected, the critics’ awards are too late to save Lupita! Can Erivo and her despicable campaign just fuck off already???!!
Erivo just got 2 Globe Nods!!! Hahaha.
