So… Iconic? Thanks.
You mean constantly labeled as one of the worst endings, sure.

May 28, 2023 at 8:32 pm #1205444063So the only character to get a resolution is Logan because he is dead.
What a shit way to end the show.
The actors are always great on this show, so we knew they would knock it out of the park, but how anyone can be happy with the complete lack of ending for any character… it’s this decades black screen ala The Sopranos.

Lol she didn’t need the play to get nominated to win.

February 5, 2023 at 9:31 pm #1205293251Well, this year, just like last year happened without the BRP. Taylor’s and Adele’s wins in AOTY were under that committee that decided the nominees. Perhaps, they’re not that much of grammy darlings if it wasn’t for the BRP.
Didn’t the BRP only decide the nominees tho?

February 5, 2023 at 9:09 pm #1205293079what do you think he meant with that statement?
Is that a serious question?

February 5, 2023 at 9:07 pm #1205293052He’s been in the industry for over 10 years and on top of world as a soloist for the last 4, how on earth he keeps pushing the “this doesn’t happen to people like me” narrative.
The same way Beyonce takes millions of dollars to perform a concert in a country where homosexuality is illegal.

February 5, 2023 at 9:01 pm #1205292983It’s not possible that he actually believes that he’s part of a minority
Where did he say he was a minority?

February 5, 2023 at 8:53 pm #1205292863“This kind of thing doesn’t usually happen to people like me” – Harry Styles, the queerbaiter white male of 2023, complaints about how white males don’t win AOTY too often for his liking… A tragedy
Did he say all that?

January 16, 2023 at 8:55 pm #1205248843Picture, Actor, Supporting Actress, screenplay, Makeup and Hairstyling is a surge compared to what the critics said about this movie.
Again, Makeup, Actor and Screenplay was almost always a given.
Outside the PGA nod, it’s not guaranteed a picture nod. Hong has a shot at supporting actress. The only “surge” would be of it made it into picture. PGA doesn’t do a great job predicting the Oscar final list.
Guess we will see.

January 16, 2023 at 8:01 pm #1205248814Not just because of PGA. The movie is surging rn
Where is this surge? PGA and getting Hong in at SAG is a surge? It only got 4 longlist mentions at BAFTA, didn’t make Picture. It’s ineligible at WGA.
I’m not saying it couldn’t happen, but this whole surge thing is a little crazy.

January 16, 2023 at 7:57 pm #1205248812You can call me crazy but I think Nina Hoss can pull off a surprise here, even with her snub in BAFTAs longlist. Of course, her role isn’t big in the movie but she feels like a thing that could happen in nominations morning with Tár being a big contender and Blanchett has the momentum now, sometimes this helps roles like Hoss to get there, especially with Nina appearing in everywhere with Cate to promote Tár.
By the way, it’s interesting Nina Hoss got some mentions in some places: LFCC nomination, runner-up in NSFC, nominations in both Gotham and Spirit Awards (I know they’re jury categories but anyway). Last year, Jessie Buckley got the same package so it’s a interesting parallel to make it for her even with Buckley being a stronger role and with a BAFTA mention, though.
Hoss has no buzz. Everyone is talking about Cate and Todd for that film.
I can’t imagine her getting a ton of number 1 votes to get in.

January 16, 2023 at 6:59 pm #1205248779Ana is 100% getting nominated. And very deservedly. The industry clearly respects her work. Michelle Williams and Viola Davis are the ones in danger. European voters don’t care about The Woman King. And Michelle Williams performance is polarizing. And some people might put her in supporting.
And European voters care about Blonde?

January 16, 2023 at 6:56 pm #1205248777But that doesn’t matter what matters is that The Whale would probably be nominated for Best Picture at the most important stage, The Oscars, if that happens Fraser is winning.
Everyone is suddenly throwing The Whale into picture because of PGA. That’s stupid.
