Looking at some predictions here, I see some of you guys are expecting almost every Netflix contender to have nominations:
Chicago 7
Mank
Ma Rainey
Da 5 Bloods
Pieces of a Woman
Malcolm & Marie
I’m Thinking of Ending ThingsAll of these in above the line categories. Plus The Midnight Sky on crafts, and a couple of other noms in Animated and Documentary.
That would be unprecedented by any studio. That’s why I’m not predicting some of these in any category, and I’m skeptical about others. Not even peak Miramax had so many nominated films. I know this is an unprecedented year but it’s not like there’s no alternatives from other studios.
Agreed with this. Some netflix movies will be left without a chair. I wonder which ones.
ReplyJanuary 18, 2021 at 4:01 pm #1203990339Lol. PYW is not missing Screenplay.
right on cue. Well Soul isnt missing and neither are the other 4 films. Guess what’s left?
ReplyJanuary 18, 2021 at 3:53 pm #1203990324Lakeith is a phenomenal actor and has been getting great reviews along with Daniel. The movie is also up for Best Picture so saying he has no chance is a stretch.
I’m predicting him. I dont think he will hit any precursors and show up on oscar morning.
ReplyJanuary 18, 2021 at 3:51 pm #1203990320No Soul?
they would have to remove PYW for that and we all know they cant comprehend that
ReplyJanuary 17, 2021 at 11:54 pm #1203989039Someone should tell Focus that their astroturf campaign is getting a little too obvious.
ReplyJanuary 17, 2021 at 11:31 pm #1203989026THR’s new forecast put him at # 5, his campaign is said to be strong behind the scenes.
this why you dont take pundits seriously. I bet he just had him on his podcast or something.
Because of course he was.

ReplyJanuary 17, 2021 at 11:28 pm #1203989020These are very clearly leftist critiques of the conservative film that is Aaron Sorkin’s Chicago 7.
Good luck with those attacks, dear. Its not catching on.
ReplyJanuary 17, 2021 at 11:25 pm #1203989014i hope so but..
”Smh Oscar pundits who admit that they still haven’t seen Miss Juneteenth. On a podcast no less. Even after Nicole Beharie won the Gothams. That’s what happened last year with Clemency.”
and people wonder why pundits have mediocre white women on the top of thier predictions.
ReplyJanuary 17, 2021 at 3:07 pm #1203988486People keep saying that an Oscar for Hillbilly Elegy would be an insult to Glenn’s legacy but in my mind it’s exactly the same situation she was in with The Wife. In my opinion Hillbilly Elegy is a better film than The Wife, and Glenn is great in both of them. Do I want Glenn to win for this? Not really. Obviously I would rather it be for a better movie and in the leading category, but I’m not begrudging the prospect anymore than I begrudged the prospect of her winning for The Wife.
Agreed. I think it’s because she was frontrunner for the wife, while for hillbilly she is underdog.
ReplyJanuary 17, 2021 at 3:01 pm #1203988468Not sure right wing attacks in the liberal left POV of Chicago 7 is the route y’all want to go find. That’s not being able to read the room. If Chicago 7 faces attacks like that it will win with ease.

Very true. Especially as later movies get screened for wider audiences. You can really see the desperation from some on this forum.
