I’m gonna be on the SAG Nom Com this year! I’ll drop as much tea as I am allowed.April 13, 2019 at 4:05 pm #1202851634
Star Wars has jumped the shark. It literally makes no sense anymore. I would rather have them remaking the old films like Force Awakens then whatever spaghetti against the wall stuff they are doing now.March 27, 2019 at 2:26 pm #1202831443
Us 34% jump on Tuesday is bigger than A Quiet Place and Get Out. So much for the divisive word of mouth lolMarch 25, 2019 at 8:08 pm #1202829438
I saw Shazam at one of the fandango screenings.
After a rocky 20 or so minute start, the film really lifts off once we meet Shazam. I can see why The Rock was rumored at first for the part since it seems written for him but glad he didnt do it because Levi is aces. I think the entire cast is pretty good considering it’s kid actors. Strong is great as the villain as well as he lives and breathes the camp atmosphere of the movie.
I worry a bit for the sequel since a lot of the humor came from the aw shucks origin story of the characters. It’s gonna tough capturing that magic again.March 24, 2019 at 10:07 am #1202827786
Well, this is arrogant.
Some of you defend this film so hard just because it’s a film by Jordan Peele. Can we be fair? This okay-but-not-that-great film won’t become another Get Out with a bunch of award noms.
The reviews are divisive. I’m not surprised at that CinemaScore. And B IS low for a #1 BO film ,let alone it’s from Oscars-nominated director.
94% on RT 81 on MC and a 70M opening weekend is divisive lol
The film that won best picture didnt even make 70M total and had 69MC and 78RT.March 23, 2019 at 11:16 am #1202826959
“Get out” got A- on CinemaScore
“Us” only got B
As I said yesterday, the reviews are gonna be divisive. I personally dislike it because of the obvious flaws of the plot.
Lol you can’t blame audience for missing the messages of the film. Admit it! The film itself has problems.
Was A Quiet Place divisive? That got a B+.March 23, 2019 at 10:51 am #1202826925
This is making a crapload of money so I think SAG ensemble and Lupita are pretty safe at SAGMarch 21, 2019 at 11:02 pm #1202825249
Here is my review
So this was pretty fucking amazing. I’m glad I stayed away from trailers and reviews from this one. There are enough clues in the film that makes it all satisfying where you finally get to see how it all ends up. I thought the early predicts for N’yongo to get an oscar nod for this were funny and then I saw the film and am now a believer. She elevates the already great material. She is creepy as fuck and at the same time loving and caring. I can totally see SAG going for her with the early release date and with it being a probable populist hit. SEE THIS FILM!
At this stage in the game it looks like an across the board contender. It’s up to the rest of the field to catch up.March 12, 2019 at 3:52 pm #1202814274
Looks like Streep is gonna be taking up the spot of a more deserved contender.March 8, 2019 at 10:45 am #1202809124
Saw 2 great documentaries: Apollo 11 and Free Solo.
If I had seen Free Solo prior to Oscars I would have predicted it. The visuals were breathtaking and the story was very engaging. It really felt like you were thee hanging on the edge not knowing which one could be your last.
Apollo 11 was everything First Man wanted to be without any of the pretentiousness. I saw it in Imax and had many moments thinking that this couldnt even be real. Whoever restored the footage needs to be given the nobel prize. It’s even better than They Shall Not Grow Old. I hope it wins in 2020.March 3, 2019 at 8:39 am #1202802115

Very badly. I mean his clip was him lip synching. So cringe.
