It was the worst show I’ve watched this season along with Truth Be Told. HBO made a right decision.July 9, 2020 at 1:30 pm #1203578478
Why I think Apple TV+ is a flop is that, before the release it was marketed as the new HBO considering the talent involved. Even though people like the shows they lack the prestige and the passion of the critics. The Morning Show is a good show but it’s no where near the first seasons of The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, Westworld, and Succession etc… and its absence at PGA, DGA and WGA proves that. IMO the only show on Apple that should be considered prestige and artistic is Servant. I know most people on this forum like Defending Jacob, but I’m 100% certain sure that if they had to rank it with other mystery shows like BLL S1, Sharp Objects, True Detective or The Night Of, it would be at the bottom of the list.
But space force is an audience hit so it’s invalid too
It has a very low MC score and will probably recieve zero major noms so yeah it’s a flop.July 8, 2020 at 9:08 am #1203573753

I’m pretty sure breakthrough performer of the year is between Paul Mescal and Shira Haas.July 7, 2020 at 11:07 am #1203572226
I know Hillary Swank’s stardom has faded over years but her Netflix show “Away” about a female astronaut is out September 4 on Netflix. Since so many drama shows will be absent for the fall awards, this might get attention.July 7, 2020 at 10:59 am #1203572212
I haven’t seen any campaign for El Camino let alone for Aaron Paul. The actors who are campaigning the most are Chris Evans and Paul Mescal. I’ve also observed for Mark Ruffalo, Russel Crowe and Andre Holland but not as much as the former two. I don’t recall any for Jeremy Irons but out of all contenders his show is the only lock.July 6, 2020 at 11:49 am #1203570560
Considering the fact that the creator of the show inked an overall deal with Netflix, it looks like the decision to end the show is a creative rather than ratings.July 4, 2020 at 8:10 am #1203566241
If a voter has watched both Hollywood and Normal People, I’m sure they can distinguish the quality between those two shows. Just because they watched Hollywood doesn’t mean that they’re going to vote for it. Last year at the Oscars, majority of the Academy also watched Cats but of course they didn’t vote for it.July 4, 2020 at 7:56 am #1203566223
At least to me S3 was mostly about June so the other characters didn’t have enough scenes to deserve nominations for this year.July 3, 2020 at 3:54 am #1203564579
I don’t think ballot placements matter at all. It shouldn’t be hard for people to find the person they want to vote for. It’s not like they’re playing Where’s Waldo.July 3, 2020 at 1:40 am #1203564495
I think either Witherspoon or Washington will be dropped. Being a bigger name no longer matters in Peak TV anymore, as there are so many shows with big stars now. If a lesser known name has the performance, they can overcome name-checked stars. I wouldn’t be even surprised if both Washington and Witherspoon are dropped in favor of Shira Haas or Daisy Edgar-Jones. LFE never reached to the buzz level of Unbelievable, Unorthodox and Normal People, nor it had the same level of critical acclaim of those three.July 2, 2020 at 3:13 am #1203562554
Andrea Arnold’s omission is a glaring one. I’m sure it’s more serious to Arnold’s eyes what happened than what Reese and Nicole tried to present by beautifying the situation therefore being hypocrites. I can only imagine how Arnold must have felt these past couple of months. I hope voters boycott the show resulting in a shut out— maybe except Meryl.
The fact that none of the actresses stood up for Arnold is just disgusting.
Normal People choosing the third episode for writing is so weird.
