I thought the ceremony was too long, but mostly great. Alicia Keys is a delight. She should host every year. Really enjoyed the performances.
I was rooting for Janelle Monáe in AOTY (it’s a crime she hasn’t won), but Kacey Musgraves is incredibly deserving. One of the best winners of the decade IMO.
“This is America” is fine. Cool to see it make history. Decent choice for ROTY, though I would’ve gone with Kendrick. Gaga (or Brandi) should’ve won SOTY, but Gaga won more than expected anyway. Still shocked about “Joanne.” It’s a great time to be a Gaga stan!
THRILLED for Ariana. I’m old enough to remember when we were called delusional crack heads for even predicting a nomination for Sweetener. Later, fools! Too bad she wasn’t there. Would’ve been a gag to see her beat Taylor on TV.
H.E.R. should’ve won BNA, but she doesn’t need it. Excited to see what she does next.

I hope there is a split! Silly that Childish Gambino isn’t there.
Ceremony has been super great up until this point otherwise.January 15, 2019 at 6:35 am #1202734917
Alicia Keys just announced that she will be hosting.
Would be good on the Grammys to have an opening performance featuring several talented women, predominantly women of color.December 27, 2018 at 11:09 am #1202711542
1. “Shallow” – Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
2. “The Middle” – Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey
3. “S Wonderful” – Tony Bennett & Diana Krall
4. “Girls Like You” – Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B
5. “Fall In Line” – Christina Aguilera & Demi Lovato
6. “Say Something” – Justin Timberlake feat. Chris Stapleton
7. “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” – Backstreet BoysDecember 27, 2018 at 11:03 am #1202711532
3. Meaning of Life
4. Shawn Mendes
5. Beautiful Trauma
6. CamilaDecember 27, 2018 at 10:58 am #1202711524
1. “Havana (Live)”
2. “God is a Woman”
5. “Better Now”December 27, 2018 at 10:49 am #1202711509
1. 21 (duh)
2. The Suburbs (The Fame Monster would’ve been deserving as well)
3. Random Access Memories (probably could’ve gone to Kendrick though)
4. Fearless (Taylor deserved it this year only. Though I prefer The Fame, which is all around more iconic)
5. Morning Phase (Should’ve gone to Beyoncé, but this album is good in its own right)
6. 25 (Sure, it beat expectations & Adele went diamond AGAIN, but Lemonade is one of the best albums of the century IMO)
7. 1989 (Undeniably huge era, but the award obviously should’ve gone to To Pimp a Butterfly or even Sound & Color.)
8. Babel (A crime this beat Channel Orange, but it’s not my least favorite.)
9. 24K Magic (The worst album of the bunch that year.)December 21, 2018 at 8:07 am #1202707537
Wait a sec… is “Rolling in the Deep” the only explicit song to ever win ROTY or SOTY?? (I think she says “shit” once). That would be a really interesting stat if so.December 20, 2018 at 9:21 am #1202706855
I think the top two contenders in ROTY & SOTY are “This Is America” and “Shallow.” I can also see a scenario where voters check off “All the Stars” in ROTY as a consolation prize for Kendrick. Brandi Carlile is certainly a contender and her best shot is SOTY.
I’m still predicting Kacey Musgraves for the win in AOTY. Black Panther is Kendrick’s weakest work IMO. Would make more sense to give him ROTY. How many featured artists would be rewarded if Black Panther won?
Here’s how I see the GF in top/bottom tiers:
1. Golden Hour
2. Black Panther
3. Invasion of Privacy
4. By the Way, I Forgive You
5. Dirty Computer
7. Beerbongs and Bentleys
1. “This is America”
3. “All the Stars”
4. “The Middle”
5. “The Joke”
6. “I Like It”
7. “God’s Plan”
2. “This Is America”
3. “The Joke”
4. “All the Stars”
5. “The Middle”
6. “In My Blood”
7. “God’s Plan”
8. “Boo’d Up”
2. Greta Van Fleet
3. Dua Lipa
4. Bebe Rexha
5. Luke Combs
6. Chloe x Halle
7. Margo Price
8. Jorja SmithDecember 10, 2018 at 3:37 pm #1202697167
Be the Cowboy– Mitski
Clean– Soccer Mommy
Dirty Computer– Janelle Monáe
Golden Hour– Kacey Musgraves
Invasion of Privacy– Cardi B
Isolation– Kali Uchis
K.T.S.E.– Teyana Taylor
Sweetener– Ariana Grande
Tell Me How You Really Feel– Courtney BarnettDecember 7, 2018 at 3:34 pm #1202693683
I think Kacey Musgraves will win. Her country appeal crosses over into pop and even to alt pitchfork types.December 7, 2018 at 2:55 pm #1202693623
Tony Bennett & Diana Krall are a lock in Traditional Pop Album.
I think “Shallow” will win Pop Duo/Group. “The Middle” is probably next in line and an argument can be made for “‘S Wonderful,” but Gaga and Cooper will be everywhere in the next few months.
Actually think Pop Solo is wide open and anyone could win besides Post Malone, but I’m leaning toward Camila Cabello. Ariana submitted the wrong damn song.
Based on Taylor’s history, she is the frontrunner for Pop Album, but I don’t think this is the same case as Ed Sheeran. Does anyone actually think Taylor was wronged? If anything, she’s been overrewarded. The Reputation era was divisive. Taylor couldn’t even make it into Pop Solo (and wasn’t she eligible for something in the country field?)
I’m predicting Sweetener will win here. Ariana’s got the narrative, the hype, and a current smash. Just because the BRP didn’t select her for the GF doesn’t mean there isn’t support for her among the masses. Only Ariana and Camila got into both Pop Solo & Album and I think there is more good will for Ariana. Plus Pharrell would be rewarded and he got into POTY. I don’t buy that any of the other nominees are competitive at all.December 7, 2018 at 8:23 am #1202693098
I’m thrilled for Gaga!! LMFAO @ Joanne piano version. I owe someone an apology. The Grammys see that she’s on top of the world again and are making up for past snubs.
“Shallow” or “This is America” should win ROTY.
“Shallow” or “The Joke” should win SOTY.December 7, 2018 at 8:11 am #1202693078
Why? In My Blood is a far more deserving song than No Tears Left to Cry.
Oh we can agree to disagree at this point.
I’m a fan of Shawn Mendes. Happy to see him finally recognized. Don’t particularly like “In My Blood,” but he has a long career ahead of him.December 7, 2018 at 7:53 am #1202693042
#44 on the leaderboard woooo
I predicted “The Joke” in SOTY, but did not expect 6 nominations for Brandi Carlile. WOW.
Disappointed for Ariana– silly to see Shawn Mendes in SOTY and Post Malone in AOTY before her. But I think she has a shot in Pop with Taylor underperforming. I was never convinced that “Delicate” was going anywhere.
Janelle deserved more. Dirty Computer should be winning AOTY, if not that then Golden Hour. But Brandi could take votes away from Kacey…
Outrageous that Kali Uchis, Mitski, and Courtney Barnett got shut out. 3 of the very best albums of the year, period.
Very glad to see “Meant to Be” and “Girls Like You” rightfully snubbed. Shouldn’t have let y’all convince me that Black Panther wasn’t happening.
