Cory and Laura discussed specifically the gap between Bradley’s local news experience and the skill set required at the national level
ReplyOctober 29, 2021 at 9:47 am #1204547056In 2021 it shouldn’t be seen as unusual for a 40 something to be an up and comer in their career. Older people are returning to undergraduate studies, Internships are being targeted to the middle aged, people are expected to change careers several times in their lifetime. There are many Bradley’s out there and I am sad to see that a 40 something actress portraying her is seen as a mistake. Unless you are at the top of your field by 40 give up, I guess.

Alex: Can some explain to me why she is so worried about people finding out that she slept with Mitch? She is a feminist hero for her outing of the toxic environment that she admitted to enabling. Her and Mitch clearly flirted on air which was a part of their popularity ( like Matt Lauer/Katie Couric ). No one is going to care if they hooked up, both are now divorced.
Yanko: attaboy. I cheered when he punched the racist and pushed back on Mia. He was right, performative wokeness doesn’t achieve anything. A fist to the face does!
Cory: Please don’t out Bradley! It will kill your friendship and make her life hell. Go punch Fred in the face instead.
ReplyJuly 7, 2020 at 3:18 am #1203571634I just rewatched the season and my opinion of Bradley improved during episode 4 after she is established as co-anchor. Like the rest of the show, IMO, she is at her best when in storylines commenting on #metoo. The fact that she was older than Ashley, Mitchs victim who was interviewed, and Hannah added a matriarchal quality which was an asset to those scenes. Bradley as both a seasoned journalist but major network tv novice provided an objective set of eyes to the toxic culture, which was a good contrast to the rest of the cast.

I’ve said the same thing after most seasons of American Horror Story.
Billing comes down to contract negotiations. It doesn’t always match to what you may expect regarding screen time.

I think that by July, when tv shows premiering in fall normally start production, TV sets should be able to operate. Crews might have to be stripped back though. Non essentials like craft Services and some assistants and juniors might have to be forgone for awhile.
ReplyApril 29, 2020 at 1:58 pm #1203453969The bad reviews for the morning show where based only on the first three episodes that where released early. The rest of the season was a vast improvement and it turned into a rather excellent, nuanced portrayal of #metoo. Later reviews and it’s accomplishment at the golden globes and SAGs reflects that critical turnaround.
Hollywood isn’t like that. The full season comes out at once and there isn’t anything new to discover about it.
