What a great binge, I did see some of the twist and turns coming but Christina Applegate and Linda Cardelini were fantastic but this should not be in the comedy categories. It was more dramatic and with the weak drama categories this year, I think it’d have a better chance.March 24, 2019 at 6:38 am #1202827597
Those who I think have a strong shot this year….
Dick Van Dyke
I also hope they do not cut the number of honorees again. Last year’s Hamilton tribute was kind of a joke.February 20, 2019 at 10:15 am #1202782641
It is official, Gary Oldman and Allison Janney present Best Actor, Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell present Best Actress
Why they can’t do it traditionally is beyond me. They claimed they needed star power and the presenter list is pretty lackluster.February 7, 2019 at 6:58 am #1202764133
Way to save face Academy. But if they are not allowed to present the opposite acting category alone that is a shame. Basically if Leo won Lead Actor this year, only he would be allowed to present alone Lead Actress and the other 3 have to present together. There are barely any traditions at the Oscars outside of actually handing out awards so why are they so stubborn? No one is going to stop watching the Oscars because Mark Rylance presented Supporting Actress. The big names can help draw more attention to the craft awards that most of Americans don’t care about. So let last year’s winners present the acting awards as tradition!February 6, 2019 at 8:30 am #1202763099
Here is an article going around about how Janney feels about not being asked to present. Its one of the few traditions they have and why they can’t do this is a shame. These producers and President need to go.

Frances McDormand, Gary Oldman, Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney presenting the acting awards alone and not with someone.February 1, 2019 at 8:48 am #1202758019
This article doesn’t explicitly mention of “Shallow” and “All the Stars” will also be only 90 seconds, but mentions that the other three songs will only be a minute and a half long.
Additionally, this article confirms that last year’s acting winners are not confirmed to present this year…at least not yet. It also seems to suggest the telecast producers were the ones that pushed for technical categories to be pushed to commercials. Still, there is no mention of what this means will actually take up the time of the telecast, but I don’t feel any better about this show than I did before.
That is an embarrassment to not have last year’s winners back to honor this tradition. People are not tuning in because Oprah is presenting Best Actor. Its like, you won an Oscar but you are not good enough to come back the next year. These producers need to go.January 29, 2019 at 6:57 am #1202754068
It’s all because of Casey Affleck situation. He wasn’t presenting. They had to balance it with Best Actor category then. But Stone gave award to del Toro, so it’s cool too.
There have been many examples of a past winner not returning and it has been fine. But also, Frances’ husband is a nominee this year so more of a reason for her to go.January 29, 2019 at 6:29 am #1202754020
Will she come back to give Best actor? I read somewhere the production usually manages to secure the next year appearance on the same night acting winners get their Oscar, but Frances may surprise us and just leave them hanging.
I am hopeful we see her back this year. She did come back and present to Jack Nicholson after her first win. I also hope that they have last years winners present the acting awards. I thought it was crap to have Emma Stone present director over Best Actor last year.January 26, 2019 at 6:13 am #1202749144

Megan Mullally to host the SAG awards:December 12, 2018 at 11:30 am #1202699481
just like when Denzel got snubbed at BAFTA that was supposed to help him lol?
I think BAFTA and SAG are two very different situations. BAFTA has in the past tipped more towards fellow Brits, plus an American award show gets more attention in the states. I do not recall so many articles about Denzel’s snub from BAFTA as I have seen for Regina King.December 12, 2018 at 10:19 am #1202699353
I think the outrage over Regina King’s snub actually works in her favor. I think people are upset she was snubbed and people may vote at the Oscars because of that. I personally wanted to see her sweep. Granted Mary Poppins and Vice did well, but thats not always the case, late releases have known to miss here.December 12, 2018 at 9:46 am #1202699254
So they only watched 4 series this year it seems…..I really wish they would increase to 6 nominees in each category if they insist on combining Lead and Supporting.
Marvelous Mrs. Maisel love
Kominsky Method love
Jane & Lily
Too much Ozark love. It’s a fine show but only Linney and Garner were memorable last season
Bill Pullman? Really?
No The Good Place, thought it had a chance after Kristen hosted last year.

And here we have the Carol Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award…
Well deserved but I was hoping for Betty White.
