I am 100% sure Gaga isn’t winning anything, and I am 80% sure Million Reasons won’t get a SOTY nomination. Praying will be the 5th nom as the Grammys love a good comeback.
It’s possible for Gaga to get snubbed out of SOTY, but let’s keep it real Kesha her chances are NOT higher.October 22, 2017 at 9:54 am #1202244994
It Aint Me in dance recording is a nice surprise! Hope Selena gets her first nomination.October 22, 2017 at 9:32 am #1202244969
Girls get over it. The discussion is lame.October 21, 2017 at 11:53 am #1202244195
SHOCKED that Bruno Mars submitted “24K Magic” for ROTY (but no Pop Solo), but “That’s What I Like” for SOTY.
Yeah, surprising. Bruno not submitting anything to pop does open an extra spot in pop solo since most people were predicting him with one of his songs there.October 21, 2017 at 11:50 am #1202244194
I’m not sure how many more of these I’ll be able to do. I’ve got about 200 names on my list from the earlier parts of this thread and I want to do at least 50 of them. It’s almost surely too late for anyone to make new requests; it will only flood the thread needlessly. Sorry everyone, but with the shorter voting period (I have my own ballot to work on) and other things on my schedule, the days of comprehensive research for every possible artist are likely gone.
Thank you! You def did the most requested names already. Happy to see Brunos.October 21, 2017 at 9:48 am #1202244102
wow pop/duo group is so competitive! The submission that stands out to me the most is that “The Greatest” is eligible! Such an amazing pop song. It’s pretty old at this point, but I wouldn’t count out a collaboration by Sia & Kendrick that was in response to the Orlando shooting… despite all the contenders, I don’t see a clear front runner in pop duo/group yet and if baity, albeit lesser hits like “The Greatest” or “I Feel It Coming” manage to sneak in, I think it could prevail over “Despacito,” “I’m the One,” “Thunder,” “1-800…,” etc.
I remember “The Greatest” being released before Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion” so it’s weird it’s eligible. But I assume the Kendrick collab might have been released later then.October 20, 2017 at 12:44 pm #1202243533
I think “Don’t Wanna Know” is the better song and stands a better chance at getting nominated.
And they also won Pop/Duo for “This Love”. Clearly the Grammys like them.
There’s a HUGE difference between Maroon 5 now and over 10 years ago. Now you have to look hard to find any artist that’s more generic than them, maybe Jason Derulo.October 19, 2017 at 10:14 am #1202242497
Adele also had the advantage of Justin Bieber being her only full pop competitor in AOTY. While he deserved his nomination I don’t think a lot of people voted for him in the final round. I can see Drake stealing more votes from Beyoncé than Bieber from Adele. I really hope the nominations play in Kendrick’s advantage this year.
I do think Adele’s speech last year was impactful enough to make a few voters think twice about voting Ed Sheeran. But I still see him as the guy to beat so far ngl.October 16, 2017 at 10:47 am #1202238520
Beyoncé and her entire discography of 6 albums. B’Day and 4 made the least impact but can easily still be concindered good and popular albums.October 14, 2017 at 7:25 pm #1202237332
Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran will definitely not attend the AMAs due to their concerts. Lady Gaga has a schedule concert as well so if anything the artists will accept his or her awards live from their location or a pre taped video message.
Ahw I was hoping Ed would attend because of the curse that who shines at the AMAs often gets snubbed at the Grammys.October 14, 2017 at 11:21 am #1202237081
I do feel like pop/duo is on the weak side this year. You have hits like The Weeknd/Daft Punk, The Chainsmokers/Coldplay and Despacito. But if they dont get nominated it wouldn’t feel like a big snub for any of them. However seeing Camila in that category would def still surprise me very much.
