I think it was the best season start of BCS. The pacing was very good and the 2 episodes were great. Everyone keeps delivering but for me until now the MVP’s are Michael Mando and Giancarlo Esposito. Rhea Seehorn and Bob Odenkirk are phenomenal as always but that doesn’t come as a surprise. Michael Mando is getting the biggest material of the supporting players and he is crushing it. I think he could probably be the supporting MVP of this last season. But to be honest for me the greatest surprise until now has been Giancarlo Esposito. I’m one of the people that has the opinion that he has not been receiving the best material in the past seasons and is not as well used as he was in Breaking Bad. Despite that, I think in just 2 episodes of this season he is getting his best material since the Breaking Bad days. Esposito is playing Gus as I have never seen him. Vulnerable, fragile, anxious and not in control of the situation. Tony Dalton in just one episode proves again why he is the best Salamanca and arguably the best villain in this universe. He is such a scene stealer. Jonathan Banks is very good as always but I have a feeling we will see him at his best when we reach the last episodes of this first half of the final season (in the Nacho storyline). Just want to say that I’m very thrilled to see how the showdown between Lalo and Mike/Gus plays out. I seriously believe it will be one of the greatest showdown ever put on screen and probably better than the rivalry between Gus and Walt.

If we learnt something over the years was that the Academy loves Denzel. If he was nominated for Roman J.Israel no way in hell was he gonna get snubbed for The tragedy of Macbeth.
February 3, 2022 at 5:02 am #1204768990Shame on you Bafta’s. It’s disgraceful how in the hell one of the greatest actors of all time has never been nominated. Denzel must have killed someones family. And no, Denzel wasn’t snubbed because they didn’t like his performance as some user said. Tell me, of the 9 acting Oscar nominations he has, there wasn’t any that they liked? That’s not a valid explanation. He was snubbed because they clearly have something against him.
January 14, 2022 at 1:25 pm #1204727757I think some people are smeling the danger coming from Denzel Washington. I don’t think he is going to win, but predicting he will be snubbed is pure nonsense. The man is 100% locked for a nomination.
January 9, 2022 at 11:47 am #1204707771There were quite a few people on here back in 2005 rooting for Glenn Close to win the Drama Lead Actress Emmy award. Also, CCH Pounder deserved more than one Emmy nomination for her role on The Shield. Anthony Anderson would have been a deserving nominee in 2005 for his role as drug lord Antwon Mitchell. Walton Goggins should have received a number of nominations for his role on The Shield.
I agree. CCH Pounder was fantastic and should have been nominated (and win) more times. Walton Goggins from season 5 to 7 was win worthy. Michael Chiklis was fantastic all along and besides his win in season 1, I think he should have won for the final season. But for me the most atrocious emmys snub of The Shield was Forest Whitaker in season 5 (acting wise it was The Shield at it’s peak). Not only should he have been nominated but also win for that season. It was for me one of the best supporting performances i’ve ever saw on Tv.
ReplyJanuary 8, 2022 at 8:52 pm #1204706671Physically, Denzel looks too different than Sidney. Idris Elba looks like young Poitier
I know that, but in my opinion if you are going to do a Sidney Poitier biopic you have to make sure you cast the best black actor of all time. And that can only be Denzel.
ReplyJanuary 8, 2022 at 8:30 pm #1204706636I’ve finished The Shield some days ago, and one of the highlights of the show for me was Gleen Close performance and yet few people talk about that.
ReplyJanuary 7, 2022 at 9:48 am #1204702852Sidney Poitier was one of the greats. He was a piooner in every sense of the way. He paved the way for future generations, showing that it was possible to be a black leading man in Hollywood. The movie industry should forever be grateful to him. He is the reason we have today Denzel Washington, James Earl Jones, Forest Whitaker, Morgan Freeman, Samuel L. Jackson, Will Smith, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mahershala Ali, Michael B. Jordan.
Chadwick Boseman once said: “There would be no Black Panther without Denzel Washington”. Today I say: There would be no Black Panther without Sidney Poitier. Rest in Piece King.

ReplyJanuary 2, 2022 at 10:40 am #1204692646^I disagree that he is one of the greatest film actors of all time. I don’t really like his acting very much. You can have your opinion about it of course and many people agree with you. But he was the only cast member in The Tragedy of Macbeth I had difficulty with understanding what he was saying, especially in his soliloquies. I will give him the caveat that he had the difficult soliloquies and Frances was the only other performer who had them too – but I could understand every word she was saying and I could not understand many of his words. I felt like I was being talked at and very much wanted closed captioning/subtitles. When did I say he needed advice from me? He had other cast members who were right there to help him out, especially Kathryn Hunter. The snobby superiority of your words is very off-putting – you do realize that you spent most of your post telling me that I was less informed than you? You do not know that I am a theater major and have directed numerous plays and musicals (no Shakespeare). So don’t presume. I haven’t seen him on stage in Shakespearean roles; have any of you? I can’t assess his abilities on stage but I can of his film performance. He is the weakest cast member of this movie in my opinion and I should not be maligned for having this opinion.
Denzel Washington must have done something really bad to you. To be honest I think I discovered your problem…Denzel probably has beaten one of your favourite actors in an awards show, and you still didn’t got over it. Let me guess, your favourite actor is either Russel Crowe or Casey Affleck, isn’t it? We already realized that you didn’t like his performance in TTOM (which is perfectly fine) but what’s the point of attacking Denzel Washington saying that he doen’t know how to play Shakespeare and should take acting classes by his cast members? What do you know about acting next to Denzel? Like the other user said, you must have an agenda against the guy. You even lost time to open a thread about the movie only to attack him.
January 2, 2022 at 9:25 am #1204692533Talking about Peaky Blinders I think it’s a crime that Cillian Murphy was never nominated for portraying Thomas Shelby. I can’t understand why he is being constantly snubbed by the BAFTA’s. He gives for me one of the best tv performances ever.
ReplyDecember 26, 2021 at 11:49 am #1204679876No, not true. I always give my honest opinions in my reviews. I honestly believe his is the least successful performance in this film. I am predicting him to be nominated for the Oscar but he isn’t winning – Cumberbatch or Smith will win the Oscar. I have no fear of him becoming a factor, I simply would prefer other actors to be nominated. Simon Rex delivers a performance that ought to be in contention for one of those five slots.
I know i’m late to the party, but I just have to say that I understand what the other user said about you. It’s not the first time that I have the feeling that you go to some movies with a formed opinion already. Before watching King Richard you were always saying that Will Smith is a weak actor and you refered to that Denzel was never an actor you enjoyed very much. I’m not criticizing you for not liking a performance of an actor or even the actor himself. I mean, we all have our favourites and it would be very boring if they were all the same. For example I’m not the biggest fan of Dicaprio and I think he is a bit overrated but despite that, everytime i go to see a movie of him I go with an open mind and I only judge the performance of the actor wheter or not he is one of my favourite or least favourite actors.
