Lovecraft Country is a poorly written show, it has perhaps the most incohesive pacing and structure I have ever seen. I’m not surprised by the lack of individual acting nominations and its snubs for WGA, DGA and PGA. As time passes more voters will realize its quality like they treated Big Little Lies last year.
I agree. I’m someone who had absolutely no problems following Westworlds so called confusing time line and easily followed the shifting times and characters. But Lovecraft Country is the first time I have not been able to follow a TV show. I watched Five episodes until I finally gave up because I still had no idea what the show was about and what the actual hell was going on.May 3, 2021 at 8:11 am #1204240477
I’m halfway through the first season of Mad Men and I’m surprised the first episode won the Emmy for writing. Later episodes are much more better than the first episode.
I agree completely. I had to restart the first episode over at least a dozen times. I kept turning it off because it was boring and I just could not get myself to finish watching it. I’m happy I did because later episodes were amazing.April 30, 2021 at 10:36 am #1204236345

Donald Sutherland should have easily been nominated a couple of times.April 29, 2021 at 8:52 am #1204234812
The Penny Dreadful episode A Blade of Grass was riveting from start to finish, and the shows best episode, and the entire episode was an acting powerhouse showcase. I especially loved the scene towards the end where both Lucofer and Dracula corner Vanessa and she ends up scaring them away. How the duck Eve Green never won an Emmy is beyond me because she gave an acting masterclass and no one will be able to come close to what she did!April 25, 2021 at 7:03 pm #1204224658

I think House of Gucci will be amazing for the sole reason of Adam Driver, because that man has been on a role with the movies and roles he chooses.April 11, 2021 at 5:28 pm #1204194723
I liken Hopkins win to when Denzel Washington won for Fences at the Sags in 2017. It was a nice break from the formulaic structure of the category sweep but had no lasting effects on Casey Affleck winning. I persoanlly am one who thought Boseman was razzie worthy in Ma Rainey. I absolutely loved Hopkins heartbreaker of a performance, but in no shape way or form will Boseman lose. His narrative is just so big and unbeatable which is unfortunate because Hopkins deserves a second Oscar.April 11, 2021 at 12:56 pm #1204193660
Carey couldn’t even get in with her own people. She’s done.
Weve already established that the small jury of 10 people who chose the nominations in certain categories have no real effect on the race because it’s such a small margin of people who choose. That’s why Carey didnt fet in. I do think that Carey is probably number 2 right now behind Andra Day since she won the globe and the globes have the best track record of winners also winning Oscars.March 27, 2021 at 8:53 am #1204160985
Agreed on Lawrence, she was unbelievably excellent in Mother and she was in my Best Actress line up that year along with Mother in Best PictureMarch 27, 2021 at 6:37 am #1204160873
People seem to be forgetting that she is Meryl Streep and there is no such thing as fatigue when it comes to nominating her, especially with the career shes had and all the constant nominations. the academy loves her, so I have no doubt she will not only get more noms but also a 4th win.March 20, 2021 at 11:04 am #1204147043

I too saw Minari a few days ago and without spoiling the scene with her in bed with her grandson (y’all know the scene if you’ve watched it) was a masterclass of acting. And the final shot of Youn in the film is devastating.
Those two scenes broke my heart and she needs to win. She easily gave my favourite performance of the year
