What do you think of Julia Louis-Dreyfus in You Hurt My Feelings? It seems to me that if her performance is praised, she may have a shot at being nominated.
I hope so because she deserved a nomination for Enough Said
ReplyMay 29, 2023 at 9:48 pm #1205445214What a hell of a finale. I am in awe of the magnetic brilliance that this show managed to end with. This is easily one of the greatest finales in TV history from one of the greatest shows in TV history. But I expected nothing less from this show. From the very first episode all the way until the finale the show got better and better. Episode after episode, week after week, month after month. Year after year to deliver it’s best season with some of its best episodes. And the acting has always been on another level for this show. Jeremy Strong who brought such desperation and madness to Kendall. Kerian Culkin who played Roman with such ease and whimsy crassness. Matthew McFayden who played a snake Charmer so excellently willing to slither where he had to. But for me the two best performances from the show are from Brian Cox and Sarah Snook. Brian played Logan with so much charisma, anger, passion and drive that you can’t help but want him to tell you to fuck off. He was so good at manipulating people and Playing everything and everyone and in the end he got what he wanted to sell the company and all of its is believable because of Brian Coxs ferocious performance. Sarah Snook was and underdog for me because in the first season I felt like she didn’t have that much to do however from season two to the finale she has had nothing but brilliant moments. Shiv really is from the worst and her voting to pass the deal through was utter brilliant watch. Sarah never had the loudest character in the room but her facial movements and nuisances of her body is where she was at her best, especially with the look she gets in her eyes trying to talk to Logan on the phone after he passed. Sheer brilliance from every cast member. But the true essence of the success of Succession was because of the writing. Jesse Armstrong perfectly Crafted one of the greatest tragedies of all time and we got this show because of him. They will probably teach classes on writing using these episode scripts because this is truly some of the greatest writing of all time. I’m just so great to have been able to experience this show from start to finish with its amazing acting, mesmerizing writing this will easily be remembered as on the the greatest dramas off all time.
ReplyMay 29, 2023 at 9:27 pm #1205445207I feel conflicted about the finale but at the same time it doesn’t really take away my love for this show as a whole and I’m going to miss this cast and these characters.
This is exactly how I feel. I was disappointed with the ending some of the characters got mainly Henry Winkler. It was frustrating for him to be in jail for the murder of a woman who he truly loved he did not commit and Barry dies with all his honours still awarded to him. The show has been magnificent from the first episode and it’s been an amazing show. I just need some time with the finale itay grow in me
ReplyMay 15, 2023 at 6:23 pm #1205430058I’ll be very interested to see which actors are prioritized by studios that are likely to have more than one potential Best Actor nominee. Does Netflix prioritize Bradley Cooper in Maestro over Coleman Domingo in The Color Purple and Michael Fassbender in The Killer? Does Apple prioritize Leonardo DiCaprio in KOTFM over Joaquin Phoenix in Napoleon? Does Sony prioritize LaKeith Stanfield in The Book of Clarance over David Strathairn in A Little Prayer?
One of several reasons that I think Barry Keoghan in Saltburn and Paul Giamatti in The Holdovers and Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer may have strong chances is because I’m unsure that Amazon and Focus and Universal have other actors with realistic chances that they are likely to push. Or put another way, I think that the chances of Cooper and Domingo and Fassbender may suffer a bit from Netflix’s divided interests.
The Color Purple is a Warner Bros production not Netflix

I think it’s the opposite. I feel like this is the most she’s had to do throughout the entire show. The seasons before it felt like she was always in the background with nothing to do but this season shes had some great moments.
May 13, 2023 at 9:07 pm #1205428364Watching Love And Death and The White House Plumbers so far and I think critics were a little harsh .
I haven’t watched Love and Death yet but I agree about The White House Plumbers. After watching the first episode I thought it was terrible and decided to watch one more to see if it got any better and I’m glad I did because the second episode was such a massive improvement over the first so much better and it actually made me laugh it was a good episode so let’s hope it continues in that upward trajectory.

No it’s not because the Grammys rules state that when an artist wins Album of the Year no other tracks or singles from the same album that won are allowed to be eligible again.
ReplyMay 4, 2023 at 5:25 pm #1205421289Don’t understand all the love Fleabag got it’s nothing special and Julia Louis-Dreyfus should have easily won for her last season in Veep for her monumental performance as Selina Meyer who somehow managed to top herself in the finale.
ReplyApril 30, 2023 at 10:45 am #1205415065She’s great – her line delivery and facial expressions are always impeccable – she’s just naturally very funny. Really pleased she’s in a well earned lead role – I’m laughing multiple times per episode which is rare. I’m also really enjoying the performances of Harriet Dyer and Michael Washington.
Im so glad you are enjoying it and I’m glad that I got you to watch the show. They have a fantastic ensemble on this show every actor bounces off of one another with ease it’s just such a great watch. Jon Barinholtz is my second favourite after Gasteyer. Ana is perfectly suited for the role, and I’m glad she finally has a leading role, she is truly phenomenal.
April 30, 2023 at 9:07 am #1205414984Cloudy Sunday here so I’m already halfway through S1 – I am loving it. Can’t believe this passed me by.
Awww I’m so happy you’re loving it. It’s a gem of a show and just wait until season 2 it some how gets even better! What do you think of Ana Gasteyer’s performance so far?
April 30, 2023 at 5:25 am #1205414894I had no idea about this show but it’s now top of my ‘to watch’ list – I’ve been a big fan of Ana for a long time – thanks for the reco.
I’m glad you’re going to watch it. Ana Gasteyer is amazing in the first season but in the second season she is on
another level of brilliance, I hope you enjoy it.April 29, 2023 at 4:56 pm #1205414776I’ve been catching up on American Auto and the second season is even better than the first and I hope it gets some nominations come nominations day, however the best part of the show is Ana Gasteyer because Holy shit almighty Ana Gasteyer is a force to be reckoned with. She is a spit fire, she’s fucking hilarious and deserves to be recognized. Her performance reminds me a lot of Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Veep. Both pay unlikable women in positions of power. Both play women who only think about themselves. Both play women becoming more and more unhinged as the show progresses. Both play women who have multiple epic meltdowns. and Gasteyer has to be recognized she’s just too fucking good to be ignored.
April 21, 2023 at 3:03 pm #1205406026Im actually ok with Yeun and Wong’s response. Choe did tell a disturbing story that he obviously should not have but it was just a story. He was never accused of any crime. However if someone does come forward in the future and says that story is true obviously they will need a different response. Both Yeun and Wong condemned him. I dont know what kind of response people want but I have np problem with what they said.
March 26, 2023 at 2:04 pm #1205364549HBO FYC if you’re lurking, please submit Sarah Snook as Lead Actress. It’s a justifiable switch. J Smith Cameron could then take Supporting — a dream ballot.
I never understood why People love J. Smith Cameron so much on Succession I wouldn’t nominate her for any season so far (that might change with the final season ). She doesn’t do anything spectacular she’s just kind of there.
