Isn’t that strange that a movie like women talking will have a Pg 13 rating I read the book and it is very edgy and dark so I guess she won’t show the graphic details and treats the subject matter in a subtle way
Sarah Polley's "Women Talking" starring Frances McDormand, Ben Whishaw, Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley is completed and has received its MPA
Rating of PG-13 for mature thematic content including sexual assault, bloody images, and some strong language pic.twitter.com/1ruHMZ4Vlj

This movie is literal anti Oscar bait it is on the same vein as the piano
ReplyJune 4, 2022 at 6:54 pm #1204972850Isn’t that a bit weird that a movie like that will have a Pg 13 rating it will have the same rating as something like coda , JoJo rabbit and the father
So I think she will treat the subject matters in a subtle way and tone down the edgier moments

That TV show is a masterpiece if the director of that TV show won’t get an Oscar nom for directing this year 😭
May 23, 2022 at 2:46 pm #1204961591I’d be thrilled for her, but the praise seems more centered on Park’s filmmaking and there’s a LOT of contenders for the Actress prize. She’ll have to beat out: Taraneh Alidoosti (Leila’s Brothers) Zar Amir-Ebrahimi (Holy Spider) Marion Cotillard (Brother and Sister) **Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness) Mbundu Joely (Tori and Lokita) Annabelle Lengronne (Mother and Son) Alyona Mikhailova (Tchaikovksy’s Wife) Léa Seydoux (Crimes of the Future) Nadia Tereszkiewicz (Forever Young) Michelle Williams (Showing Up) **Cotillard seemed like a possible frontrunner before Brother and Sister premiered, though it’s been doing better with French critics than everyone else and it’s a French-heavy jury, so she’s still a possibility.
I know I don’t think this movie is going to be empty handed at Cannes it might win director or actress
ReplyMay 23, 2022 at 2:42 pm #1204961585There is still broker too when it premieres keep an eye for it , if it also gets reviews I mean the ore sales are impressive
"Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Broker has been sold to 171 countries ahead of its premiere in Competition at Cannes, according to Korean sales agent CJ ENM.
CJ says the “overwhelming” sales results are on par with those of Joon Ho’s Parasite & Park Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden." pic.twitter.com/CSI6O5z343— A piece of our life. (@_Asiancinema_) May 23, 2022
May 23, 2022 at 11:40 am #1204961462If Park Chan-wook didn’t win the Palme this time, he could win Best Director, many of them are saying great things about his work in the movie.
Tang Wei also might win best actress she is having great notices
ReplyMay 23, 2022 at 11:39 am #1204961457I wouldn’t say the reactions to Decision to Leave are divisive at all actually? Even the ones who didn’t entirely care for the film as much as most people seem to (namely in regards to the screenwriting), it seems like they still have very good things to say about the film; looks as though a good majority of people really enjoyed it.
To be fair he might get BAFTA nom with the new jury
ReplyMay 23, 2022 at 10:23 am #1204961364Is there is something loved the one movie like parasite from Cannes ? All movies seem to have divisive reactions even decision to leave

May 21, 2022 at 5:00 pm #120495954581 (Metacritic’s standard for Universal Acclaim) on MC and IMDB this century, English-language live-action: LOTR $378, $343, $316 Django Unchained $163 Mad Max Fury Road $154 Departed $132 Ford v Ferrari $118 Million Dollar Baby $100 No Country for Old Men $74 Grand Budapest Hotel $59 Twelve Years a Slave $57 Three Billboards $55 Spotlight $45 There Will Be Blood $40 Pianist $33 Room $15 Whiplash $13 The Father $2 Dark Knight $535 (S Actor) Deathly Hallows Pt II $381 Everything Everywhere All at Once $50+ Eternal Sunshine $34 (Writing/Actress) Before Sunset $6 (Writing) [Dark Knight and Eternal Sunshine would have made it in an expanded lineup. Potter was the second half of a franchise concluding film, and the first half was underscored so the second half was overscored. It didn’t even crack the top 30 on year end lists on Metacritic.]
Million Dollar baby has a 81+ on metacritic you would think it has in 70s based on how twitter treats the wins
I know it might be shocking but surprising that king speech was in 88 metacritic and had 8/10 on IMDb and was a big box office hit too

It has interesting ideas questioning the country’s cultural values and the melancholic atmosphere keeps you engaged. In the end it’s a bit too slight. Paul Mescal and Emily Watson are great. The Oscar Expert: Emily Watson is fantastic in God’s Creatures, a film that becomes more haunting and intricate as it goes along. Paul Mescal and Aisling Franciosi are really strong too. Really left an impression on me! Tim Grierson: After the distinctive tone of THE FITS, this muted character study feels a bit underwhelming, although the chance to watch Emma Watson quietly fret has its rewards Gregory Ellwood: Emily Watson and Paul Mescal are as good as you’d expect in God’s Creatures. An Irish seaside drama that feels overly familiar. Peter Bradshaw: Emily Watson and Paul Mescal shine in doom-laden drama. This is a movie which has some dramatic redundancy and is sometimes submerged too deeply in its own sense of tragic destiny. David Rooney: The long-awaited followup of THE FITS collaborators Saela Davis & Anna Rose Holmer, GOD’S CREATURES is slow to build but delivers considerable final-act payoff in Emily Watson’s wrenching performance. Stephanie Bunbury: Two stellar performances anchor God’s Creatures, giving both body and soul to a story that could feel thinly predictable in lesser hands. Francesc Vilallonga: Attention to this very powerful Irish film produced by A24 . An underground drama set in a small fishing community, a denunciation of patriarchy, which has a colossal performance from Emily Watson. Very good. Matthieu Touvet: we finally find the immense Emily Watson in a role worthy of her. In this drama in the middle of a fishing community, she excels as a mother confronted with the unacceptable. Everything is very tight, sensitive and subtle. Total Film: Secrets, lies and fish guts make for a compelling brew in God’s Creatures. Emily Watson and Paul Mescal are ace as a mother and son caught in a web of lies, loyalties and oyster beds in this tense A24 drama Fionnuala Halligan: Emily Watson puts in a commanding performance in this rural Irish mother-son drama. Occasionally, it tips over into the overwrought with its toothless, demented, grandfather, muttered novenas, and constant rolling, heavy weather in all senses, but the essence of God’s Creatures is fascinating as we watch the force of women row back against the status quo.
Omg this is impressive
