Looking back now, Jennifer Lawrence is one of them. She won because she was the “it” girl at the time. Should’ve have been Riva.April 29, 2021 at 6:17 am #1204234638
The Fargo win was a strange one. I remember watching that film and was very surprised to find she won an Oscar. Was she really the best that year?April 28, 2021 at 5:02 am #1204233107
I think Billie has made it abundantly clear that she’s completely fine with not winning more Grammys anytime soon lol. You can call her thirsty all you want but reducing this to some desperate Grammys ploy feels dismissive of the work she did during a pandemic that didn’t allow her to do much else.
she can always not submit herself again so that will be the end of discussion.April 25, 2021 at 9:27 pm #1204227007
(pleasantly?) surprised that they didn’t go with Chadwick.April 25, 2021 at 9:02 pm #1204226829
Is Mulligan lead in Maestro?April 25, 2021 at 8:59 pm #1204226800
Will Maestro be released this year? Hopefully the goodwill Carey got this season will help her next campaign.
But it’s kinda sad roles like PYM don’t win.April 25, 2021 at 8:26 pm #1204226287
from now on, I am just going to predict whoever wins BAFTA.April 25, 2021 at 8:20 pm #1204226171
wow they didn’t really care that they gave McDormand an Oscar just 3 years ago.April 6, 2021 at 6:09 pm #1204182791
This is going to be Day or Davis. Just imagine the backlash again if they fail to give BA to a non-POC when they probably will for the other 3 acting categories. The Academy is not going to miss an opportunity to make the headlines and will give all acting awards to POC like SAG.March 15, 2021 at 5:55 am #1204132837
Boseman will probably be the first BA winner for a film with no BP nom since Jeff Bridges.March 9, 2021 at 6:49 am #1204098545
BAFTA nominates PYW for Film, yet snubs Carey? This is a strange season.February 28, 2021 at 8:18 pm #1204070956
They totally gave it to Andre after the blacklash. Still can’t wrap my head around her getting a win, considering she was left behind at major critics circle and nominations (she isn’t in for SAG)
I know the voting body is different but the criticism did play a factor.
Agree. Let’s not pretend this wasn’t a factor. Although I was more prepared for a Davis win.
