There’s such a small box of what Oscars consider to be a prestigious role for women to be worthy of winning an Oscar, and women of color are not given the opportunity.March 27, 2020 at 6:02 pm #1203397696
I’ve finally watched the pilot of this show…and it was pretty bad. Its such faux prestige.
Is the show about the same or does it get better?March 23, 2020 at 7:39 am #1203391106
Reese is such a prolific producer. Why is she typecasting herself??? This role is too similar with what she’s been doing the past few years on BLL and Morning Show.March 23, 2020 at 7:34 am #1203391104
I’m not crazy about the Childish Gambino album. The front half is pretty great, but the second half lags.March 22, 2020 at 2:25 pm #1203390461
I’m re-visiting Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves to calm my anxiety. Its especially great after getting news alerts about the pandemic.March 20, 2020 at 2:48 pm #1203388530

Could Snook and Strong move to Supporting?
It could be a “The Favourite” situation where multiple actors have equal or more screentime than the one campaigning in lead (Cox), but the story revolves around him.March 12, 2020 at 8:18 pm #1203379815
I totally agree. This is Us is low-key a pretty consistent show. You just have to dig its style. If you’re not on board from the beginning then obviously you won’t like it.
It’ll fall out of the Drama Series for a lack of buzz/lack of cool-factor, not because of quality.March 12, 2020 at 8:15 pm #1203379813
what would be the impact of coronavirus in the film festivals/ awards season?
Studios will forego a theatrical release and send their movies straight to streaming services. Most studios have streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, Peacock, HBOMax) or have deals (Paramount with Netflix, A24 with AppleTV). Box office will take a hit, but at least they can build their subscriber bases.March 10, 2020 at 8:03 pm #1203377713
On the top of my head:
Kelly Clarkson winning Pop Vocal Album for Breakaway.
Childish Gambino winning SOTY for “This is America”
Arcade Fire winning AOTY for The Suburbs.
Kacey Musgraves winning country categories for Same Trailer Different Park and AOTY for Golden Hour.
Beck winning AOTY (yeah that’s right).
David Bowie winning multiple awards for Blackstar.March 10, 2020 at 6:48 pm #1203377670
If his next album flops again JT should consider it.March 10, 2020 at 6:32 pm #1203377657
whispers* I like that Parasite won.
But y’all need to rewatch Moonlight. That movie deserved a couple wins.March 8, 2020 at 11:12 am #1203374982
I’m really late to the Snoh Aalegra train, but damn her album is incredible. “I Want You Around” would be on my list for R&B grammys and at least ROTY.
Jhene Aiko’s Chilombo is just as good as her previous records. A little too long, but she’s captivating enough as a vocalist to make it work.March 7, 2020 at 7:38 am #1203374024
I have a tough time believing Shrill will ever get in to Comedy Series or Actress.
It reminds me of The Mindy Project. It has a great episode once in a while, but its never had a great season. Its good, but not great enough to cross the line into Emmy consideration.
