EEAAO is officially the most over-rewarded film in recent history.
Absolutely ridiculous. The most above-the-line Oscars film of all time? Jesus.
ReplyFebruary 19, 2023 at 10:06 pm #1205310647even though I wanted Michelle to win I agreed completely with your take on cate. This is bizarre how everybody trying to villanize her on twitter. Cate is gonna win this. People should be angry at the industry not at cate.
Angry at industry for what? For going for the best performance of the year and not following what Film Twitter wants? The lack of films starring black/Asian actors is what we should be angry at.
February 19, 2023 at 9:54 pm #1205310636All those who have watched Tár really know who gave the best performance of the year. What Cate Blanchett did in the movie is such beyond…she is the greatest and deserves every single award.
Even greater than most of the past winners in this century
Oscars, let’s make it right!
January 25, 2023 at 9:35 am #1205266504Really doubt Babylon will win 2 of the 3 categories it got nominated for, especially categories that are heavily influenced by BP nominees. I think Elvis or All Quiet will take Production Design and something else wins Score.
Babylon deserves to win Score and it’ll be a shame if something else takes its place just because Babylon is not well-recieved as a film overall.
January 24, 2023 at 11:10 pm #1205265702Austin Butler is coming for that win.
I for one didn’t think that performance is strong enough to win an Oscars back when I watched the film. Well, biopic always helps.
January 24, 2023 at 11:04 pm #1205265700so much for people hoping for marcel/pinocchio to get extra noms. all on a level playing field.
turning red rises.
Rise to where lol?

January 24, 2023 at 1:45 pm #1205264588Just notice that every BD winner in at least this century is from a film nominated for Oscars cinematography or editing.
If the stats is right, it’s gonna be between Todd Field and The Daniels this year. (McDonagh is not winning for sure)
January 24, 2023 at 11:36 am #1205264084Sure but to be fair This Is a Life was only nom’d cause of EEAAO popularity during the Oscar campaign. Still happy for them anyway.
This.
Please don’t suddenly act like it’s a strong song that deserves… a Grammys? It’s in the Oscars race mainly because of EEAAO’s BP status.January 24, 2023 at 8:20 am #1205262909The latter two have zero traction in the overall race, they’ll be passed over with the whole Academy voting.
That’s sad. Bardo literally has one of the most impressive cinematography in these years.
ReplyJanuary 24, 2023 at 7:13 am #1205262365Ciao Papa in the context of the film is so underwhelming. This Is A Life is haunting and beautiful. It’s the best alternative if say Naatu Naatu loses.
It’s clear the noms of “This is A Life” and EEAAO score has more to do with the film being top BP contender.
January 24, 2023 at 6:58 am #1205262217EEAAO is winning BP but I don’t think it’ll snatch BD as well. Spielberg and Field have chances.
January 24, 2023 at 6:54 am #1205262160What is winning cinematography now?
All Quiet, Bardo, and Empire seems more possible. I hope Bardo gets it.
ReplyJanuary 24, 2023 at 6:34 am #1205261902Maybe Oscars can follow BAFTAs for the “longlist” thing so that this kind of Andrea bs can be prevented.
January 24, 2023 at 6:24 am #1205261801Very bad look for the Academy with that Andrea nom.
