As I expected they are submitting Penny Dreadful again. It will hurt more than ever not seeing Eva Green’s name among the nominees in 3 months time.April 20, 2017 at 3:01 pm #1202072105
Woodley won’t be getting nominated and HBO really fucked up the chances of Henrietta Lacks’ supporting actresses and Michelle Pfeiffer by this decision, maybe even Dern and definitely Kravitz’s who I thought might have got in if the love for this show would be something like ACS last year. Meh.
More and more I think Bates will get snubbed for her incredible performance in AHS. She was the only thing that made this season bearable so it is a shame really.April 17, 2017 at 5:21 pm #1202069101
Casey Affleck won because he deserved it.
Leonardo DiCaprio won because he deserved it (and because the “overdue” narrative was spun around him, but it was still an impressive performance of raw physicality).
Lies and lies.
Fassbender and Redmayne deserved more than DiCaprio and Mortensen deserved more than Affleck. Just b/c you prefer the winners doesn’t mean they were deserving. And don’t even get me started on the actress part, lol.April 17, 2017 at 11:54 am #1202068903
Since it is their last season I think Chandler wins his second Emmy. Hopefully they use Mendelsohn in fewer episodes and he takes a slot in guest actor and not supporting actor.April 15, 2017 at 4:45 pm #1202067399
Every movie Sorkin has written in this century produced at least an acting nominee (Hoffman, Eisenberg, Pitt & Hill, Winslet & Fassbender) who do you think gets nominated if not Chastain?April 15, 2017 at 8:51 am #1202067188
I think Seth Meyers and Samantha Bee will get in very easily. As well as Stephen Colbert. Those 3 are the loudest in their opposition to Trump compared to Fallon and Kimmel.April 13, 2017 at 7:26 pm #1202065937
Do we have a general discussion thread? I haven’t seen one so:
One of the biggest question marks for me this season is Alfre Woodard. She is Emmy royalty and she has two chances but both are from shows that the Emmys might not recognize. What do you all think about her chances for Luke Cage and ASOUE?April 13, 2017 at 8:36 am #1202065466
Has FX released their submissions yet?April 12, 2017 at 10:30 am #1202064537
YAAASSS Thandie Newton is WINNING THAT EMMY. So happy they realized that.
Michelle Pfeiffer is so getting nominated, I guess The Wizard of Lies will be this year’s All the Way. Hopefully, this can win.
So happy they submitted Jimmi Simpson too. I don’t think he’ll be nominated but he deserves it.
I thought Walton Goggins was supposed to be a lead, haven’t watched it beyond the pilot so I don’t know but he can surprise there.
I think Tracey Ullman can surprise too, idk she is an Emmy force, maybe I should consider adding her.
Kinda sad they didn’t submit Yael Stone for Hih Maintenance.
Is Crashing any good? Can Sarah Silverman and T.J. Miller get their nomination for that show?April 12, 2017 at 8:33 am #1202064402
It looks so intense and one of the first real contenders for Best Picture. It will depend entirely on how Annapurna campaigns for it.April 11, 2017 at 12:03 pm #1202063509
You say “even these” but do bear in mind that BAFTA only has 4 spaces per category so Lead Categories are ridiculously competitive
I said that because they nominated Harris and Kirby, if it was the usual two I wouldn’t say that. But Smith’s omission is becoming a pattern with award bodies and BAFTAs should’ve been THE place he’d have a guaranteed nomination.April 11, 2017 at 11:55 am #1202063505
Of course Foy would be still winning but who would be out from potential nominees to make room for Witherspoon and Kidman?
Assuming the top 6 from predictions center are the real nominees I’d say Robin Wright and Evan Rachel Wood would be the ones kicked out. And Kidman could easily be the spoiler.April 11, 2017 at 4:18 am #1202063129
Even these snubbed Matt Smith, I don’t know why I still insist on keeping him in my Emmy predictions
