ASIB in AOTY- It pretty obviously had the support to get in, but BRP blocked it. Imo, it very well could have won if it was nominated so they blocked it to pave the way for another album (maybe pop?)
IGOR in AOTY- I’m not a fan of Tyler but it’s an obviously great album that should have gotten a nom.
thank u, next in SOTY- That was such a bizarre snub. Once again, was probs blocked to pave the way for another win considering there was no real reason for it not to get in (#1 hit, cultural impact, acclaim)
7 in AOTY- I love Lil Nas X but that was such a wtf nom
Beyonce in pop- Those noms had me shookt ngl
H.E.R- I’m not sure if she’s a BRP pick or if voters really just lover her that much (probs a bit of both). I would not be too shocked if Hard Place won SOTY considering how relatively open it is.November 28, 2019 at 6:23 pm #1203207520
Here’s a list of my fav albums of the decade, no order:

Angel’s Bone (technically an opera)
Artpop- Lady Gaga
Charli- Charli XCX
thank u, next- Ariana Grande
Sweetener- Ariana Grande

Awaken, My Love!- Childish Gambino
Lemonade- BeyonceNovember 12, 2019 at 6:23 pm #1203176719
Billie Eilish- She’s a strong contender but she’s new and I’m not as confident as some others that she’ll be the super obvious choice between her, Gaga, Ariana and co. I doubt she’ll sweep like everyone says she will; It’s just not realistic and I say that as a casual fan of her.
Khalid- He’s had a good year but I don’t feel like he has a ton of real respect in the industry.
Gary Clark Jr.-I’m not sure how he’s the obvious dark horse. Not saying that he won’t happen but I wouldn’t be shocked with either outcome
Beyonce- The fields are open enough for her to score multiple noms, especially considering how acclaimed Homecoming is.
Rosalia- the Grammys might show taste for once. She has a lot of industry hype surrounding her
Carly Rae Jepsen- Acclaimed album, accessible sound, cult following. Could see her sneak a nom or two considering how her place in the industry has grown a bit.
Robyn- Industry veteran with a hugely acclaimed album. Now might be her time (finally/hopefully)November 2, 2019 at 3:26 pm #1203163316

Gaga was never overdue, she lost aoty three times fair and square.
Kendrick and Beyonce ARE prime examples of artists who are overdue for an aoty. But by the looks of it it’ll be like 2044 until an urban artist or a black female ever win it…. Kendricks loses were UNFAIR, Beyonces last two losses were UNFAIR. If Gaga is overdue because of “impact” then so is Bey and Ken…
1. Did I say that Beyonce and Kendrick weren’t’ overdue???
2. The Fame should have won over Fearless and The Fame monster arguably should have won over The Suburbs so yes, she has had unfair losses
3. overdue narratives aren’t just based around losses. Part of why Glenn Close is considered is considered overdue for an Oscar is because of her veteran status. Part of why Beyonce and Kendrick are overdue is impact. Part of why Gaga is overdue is impact, the situation doesn’t change based on whether you like the person or not.August 23, 2019 at 11:33 pm #1203037112
Ok, but Gaga is very much overdue
1. She has had 3 prior nominations for AOTY. Beyonce has also had 3 (excluding The Fame Monster) and so has Kendrick.
2. She is credited with bringing electro-pop back to the mainstream which shaped pop music for years and she also changed the idea of what popstar should be.
3. The Fame Monster is widely considered to be a pop classic, and it along with The Fame are considered to be hugely influential albums.
Get real!!!!!!!!!! You may hate Gaga and think she is the most overrated pos ever to walk the Earth, but it’s delusional to say that she isn’t overdue considering the acclaim she has amounted and her impact on the industry. Some of ya’ll really be drinking that dumb bitch juice cuz damn.August 23, 2019 at 5:32 pm #1203036779
As much people here hate her and want to see her and other strong women fail in any way so they can feel like they’ve accomplished something with their lives, Taylor just became a factor this Grammy cycle. Lover is a very good album and is looking to have some of the best reviews of her career. Did she kill any possible early momentum with questionable single choices? Yes, but the album is still getting great reviews and if she plays her cards right and releases a strong single that catches on, she could very well get into AOTY.
It’s a weak field with only 3-5 albums that look like they’re particularly likely to get in with the rest of the spaces being free-for-alls. So far it has an 80 on metacritic, IGOR and WWAFAWDWG both have an 81 for comparison. The argument that she’s not acclaimed enough while albums like those are deeply beloved by critics is bogus since it’s a difference by 1 point. Face it, the album is on par in terms of acclaim with many other contenders despite the weak singles. A difference in 1 or 2 points isn’t significant and you’re delusional if you think it is and it will sell extremely well.August 16, 2019 at 12:59 pm #1203026736
Ya’ll need to chill tf out. Imo there’s a spectrum of pop songwriting that goes from the tons of people who buy songs and change a lyric to get the credit to Grimes who wrote an entire album by herself. Ariana is somewhere is the middle. She writes her lyrics and iirc, does her vocal arrangements. I wouldn’t say she’s this master songrwiter, but she clearly invests time and effort into the writing of her albumsAugust 13, 2019 at 10:39 pm #1203023055
Off the top of my head:
Golden Hour- AOTY
Sweetener- Pop Vocal
Need You Now- SOTY and ROTY
The Fame Monster- Pop Vocal
Jagged Little Pill- AotyAugust 11, 2019 at 10:38 pm #1203020012

2. Cuz I Love You- Lizzo
3. Honey- Robyn
4. thank u, next- Ariana Grande
5. When I Get Home- Solange
6. Dedicated- Carly Rae Jepsen
7. Titanic Rising- Weyes Blood
8. WWAFAWDWG- Billie EilishAugust 11, 2019 at 10:32 pm #1203020004
I really like Reputation. There’s objectively a lot that’s wrong with it, but as someone who’s in college and is figuring a lot of things out, it really resonated with me.
I was fine with Dua Lipa winning BNA. I don’t think she’s as good as H.E.R, but she had a strong debut and I think she has a lot of potential. And H.E.R is a Chris Brown apologist so there’s that.
Joanne is an underrated album. Not Gaga’s best, but that’s a high bar and it’s easily one of her most consistent albums. It was a necessary step to become the songwriter she was on the ASIB soundtrackAugust 3, 2019 at 10:12 pm #1203009378
She definitely deserves to get AOTY, but not for these albums. Not that they’re bad at all, but it would just reek of them giving it to her as a consolation for Lemonade and her self-titled. Imo, it would be super anti-climactic and she deserves to have her true moment. She would just be winning for what is essentially a greatest hits if she won for Homecoming and The Gift is already forgotten. Her winning this year would probably age poorly and it would just be an insult to her legacy. Let’s wait until she releases another Lemonade or self-titled.July 24, 2019 at 10:56 am #1202994023
Imo, Spirit is super generic and has no replay value. It sounds like every song used in the trailers of historical movies that touches on social themes. The gospel choir, the platitudes in the lyrics, the key change at the end, it’s a song ripped from the 90s but it’s not even as good as its predecessors. The saving graces are Beyonce’s vocals and the music video, but there’s nothing about the song itself that would make most people (not part of the Beyhive) want to stream it.July 23, 2019 at 2:35 pm #1202992410
Wow, The Archer is actually really good. Super atmospheric, Robyn Honey teas. Exactly what I want Lover to be and miles better than her previous two singles imo
