I wonder how come Yalitza Aparicio was only invited this year. But anyway, I’m glad she’s now part of the membership (safe to say she already accepted as she posted about the new AMPAS members on her social media) and all the haters stay pressed 😛
Quite ironic that Kate Winslet, who is British, is not adept to theatre. I believe she’s one of the few exceptions of great British actors of film and television who are not keen on being on stage (Helena Bonham Carter is the other one I think about who belong to this category. She did a few plays in the early years of her career but her profile o…[Read more]
Kare replied to the topic Who's a better actor among these two? Michael Fassbender or Tom Hardy? in the forum Movies 1 month, 1 week ago
Do you think Fassy will venture to prestige TV and perhaps win an Emmy? I think he has better chances. At least Tom’s doing really well with Peaky Blinders. And Fassbender on television would be a change from having Cumberbatch or Andrew Scott on every series or miniseries lmao
Kare replied to the topic The Emmy’s Forgotten ones. Which show/actor you think has been overlooked in the forum Television 1 month, 1 week ago
- The Exorcist (if the Emmys were brave enough to separate “genre” shows and have its own category, I’d see Geena Davis winning Supporting Actress in the first season, and Ben Daniels for Lead Actor)
- The Vampire Diaries (I wasn’t always a fan of teen dramas but TVD was a ratings favorite, and Nina Dobrev was consistently good. The show went do…
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Worst one would be that there is NO Ensemble category for Limited/TV Movie. In this age of prestige TV where Limited/Miniseries is becoming a norm! I would expect the following shows to get SAG nods or even win:</p>
- American Crime Story (OJ Simpson & Versace)
- American Horror Story (a lot of the Ryan Murphy shows…
Love that they have him in consideration. And Harold Wilson’s a historical figure not so much known by others who don’t follow British politics (or the history of the UK Labour Party pre-Tony Blair/Jeremy Corbyn).
I’ve had some of my comparisons with the amount of the recent PR work by Jason Watkins and his nearest competitor for the campa…[Read more]
The good points:
- Aberfan for Writing
- Jessica Hobbs for Director
- Jason Watkins, Erin Doherty, and Mark Lewis Jones!!! (Especially MLJ, with the recent news of the real life character he played, Dr. Tedi Millward (Prince Charles’s tutor), died recently. Prince Charles gave tribute to the man who taught him W…
Full link of the Netflix FYC.
At least I am happy that they put Mark Lewis Jones into consideration. If anyone follows some of the royal news, Prince Charles’s tutor, Dr Edward “Tedi” Millward, passed away a week ago due to COVID-19, aged 89. MLJ played Millward in an episode of the series.
Seeing the Netflix submissions, what??? This seaso…[Read more]

Julianne Moore said in an interview that she got fired over creative differences with the director. She has yet to watch the movie but she supports Melissa taking over.

To add, Paul Bettany was the first choice to play middle-aged Prince Philip in The Crown, but had to forgo it because of Marvel commitments. Mark Strong and Hugh Laurie were also considered, but the role eventually went to Tobias Menzies.
Speaking of TV, do we have a thread similar to this?
Broadchurch – this is the series where most fans discover who Olivia Colman is pre-The Crown, Fleabag, or The Favourite. this series is just really, really good, and keeps you hooked up until the end. There was a US adaptation called Gracepoint, but it flopped. (Likely because the lead is not Olivia Colman)
Parade’s End – miniseries aired at B…[Read more]
Kare replied to the topic Your Picks for Very English Scandals You Would Like to See Adapted for TV in the forum Television 3 months, 2 weeks ago
There’s a recent Profumo affair series that aired on BBC last December, The Trial of Christine Keeler. Starring Sophie Cookson as Christine Keeler, Ben Miles as John Profumo, Ellie Bamber as Mandy Rice-Davies (a friend of Christine who was also involved in the scandal), and James Norton as Stephen Ward.
Prince Philip – Bill Nighy or Michael Gambon
Princess Margaret – Lesley Manville
Princess Diana – Rosamund Pike or Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Prince Charles – Colin Firth
Prince Andrew – Vincent Regan or Rupert Penry-Jones
Sarah Ferguson – Rebecca Ferguson or Billie Piper
Prince Edward – Max Brown or Robert James-Collier
Tony Blair – Ben Mendelsohn
Kare replied to the topic 2020 BAFTA TV Nominations Predictions (It's never too early…) in the forum Television 3 months, 4 weeks ago
Or even Ben Daniels could end up getting nominated not only to honor his career (he has yet to get a BAFTA, but he has won Olivier for theatre and also halfway to EGOT with nominations from Tony and Grammy, and of course the recent SAG win for The Crown’s ensemble win shared with the cast). But also it will serve a great publicity for him a…[Read more]
Kare replied to the topic If SAG had Ensemble Categories for Limited Series/TV Movie in the forum Television 4 months, 2 weeks ago
TV movies aren’t really popular these days, especially ones from broadcast network TV. I’d like to add Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (premiered on NBC on Easter Sunday 2018) for the SAG 2018 line-up. I doubt it’ll win over ACS Versace, but I think JCS will stand a chance as it also was popular among the Emmy voters and the cast was also…[Read more]
How many episodes would you be eligible to be in supporting actor? 50 percent or 5 out of 10 episodes? Then the rest would be for Guest Actor.
I sincerely hope Netflix campaigns the hell out of everyone in The Crown especially for Guest Actor and Guest Actress. Still unforgivable to not campaign for Alex Jennings back in season 2 lol. Good…[Read more]
So pleased and ecstatic with The Crown finally winning the Drama Ensemble prize, just too bad not many from the cast attended (unlike during season 1). It also goes to show that the win is a big

Right now, it’s HBC, Josh, and Erin who are confirmed to attend. Also including actor Sam Phillips who played the Equerry. I would love Charles Dance to attend, especially that his other project is also up in contention for Best Ensemble even if he’s not part of GOT’s final season. I hope the other actors (especially Ben Daniels, they’ve been pu…[Read more]
