The fact that she was completely shut out the year that “One Sweet Day” was nominated is a disgrace. She should have SWEPT that year!January 23, 2018 at 8:30 am #1202476077
The Post is one. That should have been a huge movie this year. Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise starring in a political movie directed by Steven Spielberg???? They should be sweeping the awards!January 15, 2018 at 8:42 am #1202467721
I would add the movie Nine to this list. A lot of people expected it to be HUGE with its stellar cast and whatnot.October 16, 2014 at 9:49 am #423961
See, I’m totally different. Each time I watch, I grow fonder and fonder of Nicolle. I think it’s funny that she doesn’t know anything about pop culture, but she is learning. And with the recent political discussions, it’s nice that they have someone who was once in those positions to give some insight into them (for example, today when discussing “fangate”, I did not know that so much goes into planning a debate).
However, Rosie Perez is the one that irks me sometimes. I think she is good at giving her opinions, it’s just annoying that every time there is a discussion concerning someone who is Latina/o, they immediately turn to her. We get it, your a Latina. Congratulations. You don’t see Whoopi throwing it around all of the time that she is black. Or that Rosie O’Donnell is gay. Hopefully that is something that goes away, because other than that, I really like her.
I think this may be my favorite cast The View has ever had. Even better than Seasons 11 + 12 of Whoopi, Joy, Sherri, Elisabeth, & Barbara. This group has legitimate discussions, and they take turns talking. I LOVE that.October 1, 2014 at 3:12 pm #423957
^^ In terms of last name to be announced but first one on stage, I think that is a technicality. They seem to announce the names of the hosts in order from left to right of their seating positions, and then they come out from right to left of where they sit.
I will agree with you that I do miss the fiery and often controversial hot topics. However, I think that will come as we get closer to the election. The View hosts won their first, and only, Emmy for hosting for the year of the 2008 election, when there was a disagreement, and argument, almost every day.
My main issue is with Nicole. She provides interesting insights, but she is just boring to me. She never seems to be passionate about anything. Hopefully this will change over time, as this is only the 3rd week. But that’s what I liked about S.E. Cupp. She was passionate about her beliefs, and not afraid to argue with anyone. I’ll never forget when she took on Whoopi regarding praying towards the end of last season. I’ve never seen a guest co-host take Whoopi on like that. I like Whoopi and everything, but it was great television. It had me hopeful for season 18.
Hopefully they will hire S.E. Cupp after she has her baby.September 30, 2014 at 7:33 pm #423955
I, too, am really liking this season. It’s the first time in a LONG time that they all give their opinions, and don’t talk over each other/interrupt each other, which was one of the complaints many people had about the show before. I think Nicole is starting to find her place and get comfortable being there. We have to remember Nicole has never had a job like this before.
I still find it interesting that they didn’t hire S.E. Cupp, who is mighty Republican, guest co-hosted over the summer many times (and she butted heads with Whoopi when she did), and allegedly got into a heated discussion with Rosie and Whoopi during the “chemistry tests” they did in August.
I think Nicole is afraid to be TOO Republican because she knows she will get ganged up on by Rosie, Rosie, and Whoopi. They need to hire another Republican, that way it can be more balanced. I still think S.E. Cupp will be a great one to go with, presumably after she has her baby.
I’m also surprised they didn’t hire Sunny Hostin, who seemed like she was going to get the job after guest co-hosting more than anyone else last season.September 3, 2014 at 7:33 pm #423944
Actress Rosie Perez and political commentator Nicole Wallace have just been announced as the final new co-hosts!

After a really bad year, The View is gearing up for Season 18. And it was announced today that Rosie O’Donnell will be returning with Whoopi Goldberg as a permanent co-host next season!!May 27, 2014 at 11:20 pm #372016
Don’t they also now count iTunes sales of albums as well.
I also think this album will still go to #1. Mariah has a concert TV special airing on NBC this Saturday night, plus, all of her non-Christmas themed studio albums have gone to #1 before.May 19, 2014 at 11:54 pm #423939
I agree with Morgan. The Michael Douglas segment felt out of place. In fact, I fast forwarded through it. I mean, he needed TWO segments? Really?! I don’t think so.
I would have filled it with some clips of Barbara’s most memorable moments on The View, etc.May 9, 2014 at 12:27 pm #423932
I think what EmmyLoser said was right. Plus, once Behar announced her departure in mid-March, there were VERY few episodes where all 5 hosts were present on the same day. Most of the time, Behar was absent, or Walters was absent, or Hasselback was absent. They spent much of March-July trying out new hosts without Behar or Hasselback present to see how they would fit in the group without the two.
Plus, having been snubbed the past 3 years, I think they decided submitting the new panel would help them get nominated.May 1, 2014 at 1:41 pm #423929
The View was nominated for 3 Daytime Emmy Awards this morning! Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment, Outstanding Directing for a Talk/Morning Show, and Outstanding Talk Show Host(s). This is the first time since 2011 that they have been nominated for Talk Show Host(s).April 30, 2014 at 8:24 pm #371971
Anyone know what’s going on with this album?
The wikipedia page dedicated to it has been taken down, and for an album that is supposed to come out in 6 days, I’ve seen very little promotion for it.April 22, 2014 at 1:55 pm #423927
Really looking forward to seeing Rosie return for another appearance. After her first visit back to The View this past February, it was clear: this show needs Rosie as co-host, ASAP! Just in that short time alone where she was sitting on the couch chatting with the ladies, it brought a spark and energy back to the show that’s been missing for years.
I completely agree. And I believe that she would return if ABC offered it to her. She wouldn’t have to worry about Hasselback, and Walters would be gone.
But, the only thing is, would she be willing to come back if she wasn’t the moderator? Remember one of the main things that people complained about during Rosie’s season is the fact that she tried to make it her show, and didn’t SHARE the stage with her co-hosts. That was when she was the moderator. I just don’t see Rosie being like Jenny or Sherri, where they have to wait for the topic to be introduced to speak.
