CODA pulled through. Wow. Apple TV+ is now the first streamer to win Best Picture — instead of Netflix.

Yay, Belfast won Original Screenplay! Best Picture next on the film’s horizon?

I literally switched Production Design from Dune to Nightmare Alley just an hour ago. Sigh…

Just a few hours to go. Yay! Whatever happens tonight, I’m hoping to see a little love for my favorite film of the year, Belfast. Cheers everyone, and have fun!

The Academy this year:

I’m still holding on to the same sentiment I’ve held for months: Belfast could take Picture just by by being places in the top 3 on most peoples ballots, and these Anonymous Ballots seem to confirm that. I think it’s between Belfast and CODA at this point….

I would love for that to happen, but Spotlight did have that crucial Editing nomination. In fact, if I’m not mistaken, every Best Picture winner in the past 20+ years (except for Birdman, which was a unique film) was also nominated for Best Editing. Not a great statistic for Belfast…

Except that unfortunately didn’t quite pan out for one particularly highly acclaimed performance by an Irish actress this year… 😬

If true, that does make sense. Wonderfully happy for Dench, but Balfe missing is just too head-scratchingly hard to understand. She gave the best Supporting performance of the year, in my opinion. Hopefully we’ll see her nominated some day soon…

Sounds about right, with a possible spoiler of Don’t Look Up nabbing Editing and then Picture. I could see that happening…

Well, I placed much better than last year but some of those categories were crazy! One things for sure, though. This year’s Oscars will be the Netflix Awards™.

Very disappointed Balfe missed in Supporting Actress. She was wonderful in Belfast, and gave one of the best performances of the year…

My predictions are sinking faster than the Titanic!

What are everyone’s predictions for Best Editing, and why? This is final category I’m laboring over. I’m pretty certain about Belfast & Dune, but am debating between TPotD, Don’t Look Up, King Richard, and No Time to Die for the last three slots. I could go either way on any of them…

Yes, I think it’s just an article typo. If not, that’s a huge omittance. I do feel strongly about Belfast winning, though, esp. after reading that article. It seems to be this year’s middle ground film that everyone can agree on…

This category is so incredibly hard to predict! I keep changing my mind every minute. I don’t remember any category being this tough in the past years I’ve predicted the Oscars…
