If all the people nominated on Renaissance votes for it I don’t see how she loses.
Half of them are dead baby. It’s called sampling.

As if they haven’t rescinded a nomination before 💀
January 25, 2023 at 12:30 am #1205265757When does voting open/close? Not counting out Fraser just yet. If that film continues to build on its solid box office returns and generates more mainstream buzz, Fraser could still pull it off.
And I’m not a fan of the movie. I thought it had some critical flaws. I’m hoping it’s between Farrell and Mescal. But I do recall the vibe of the packed theatre I saw The Whale with in the Fall. It packs an emotional punch and Fraser’s transformative performance is the key to that.
Final voting starts a few days after SAG Awards. I think first week of March. So whoever wins SAG will be much stronger during that time, but international vote shouldn’t be underestimated.
ReplyJanuary 24, 2023 at 12:04 pm #1205264202What exactly is Ke Huy Quan coming back from? The Goonies or Indiana Jones?
Like seriously, was Ke Huy Quan sexually assaulted and then banned by the industry?
The industry OWES Fraser, they don’t owe shit to Quan.
And besides i think you have your categories mixed up.
There is NO CORRELATION between Fraser getting sexually assaulted and winning the Oscar. Y’all keep justifying an Oscar win for him with what he went through.

The last Best Actor winner to miss Picture was Jeff Bridges.

January 23, 2023 at 1:38 am #1205258516I think Park Chan-wook gets in for Best Director. Maybe Nina Hoss could also coattail and land in Supporting Actress.

Lol. Nobody is a lock for anything. This is a three way race and literally anyone of them could win at BAFTA and SAG.
ReplyJanuary 19, 2023 at 8:00 am #1205253329Who do we think were the jury picks then? I’m guessing Davis, Thompson and Deadwyler. I can see Blanchett, de Armas and Yeoh being TOP 3.
I refuse to believe Thompson was a jury pick. She’s literally a veteran with 3 BAFTA wins and 8 nominations. The jury is there to be more inclusive of actor who likely wouldn’t get nominated. So why would they save Thompson who’s been decorated by BAFTA multiple times not Lesley Manville who hasn’t? Why would they block Colman the last two years but save Thompson?
Thompson was DEFINITELY top 3 just because of how respected she is. I highly doubt she’s a jury pick.
