It doesn‘t matter if there is a comitee or not, transparancy or not and who has a vote in this. When all is said and done and the winner is announced, the will be immediate visible backlash:
Popular successful act: Grammys are a popularity contest
Veteran acts: old hags won because of the overdue factor
Unknown artist: Industry plant that nobody knows won
Boygroup: Grammys turned into kids choice awards
White successful act wins over highly predicted black act: racism/#GrammyssowhiteMarch 22, 2021 at 4:24 pm #1204151715
I think had Taylor just collected 14 Grammy wins without a win in the general field, people would talk her accomplishments down more than 11 Grammys with 3 AOTY victories. „She is respected in her communities, country and pop but yet never developed crossover appeal“ they would say.March 21, 2021 at 2:41 am #1204148038
I guess if he had just nominations for ROTY and SOTY, he would have stayed silent on that matter. Angry but silent and went to the Grammys in hopes to win twice in the general field.
If Scooter Braun was his manager and pushed him into the pop field with connections, the Weeknd would have celebrated on social media that nom day was big. #ThankYouGrammysMarch 20, 2021 at 5:24 pm #1204147651

#3 Mariah Carey 3 nominations and 0 wins
#4 Madonna 1 nomination and no win
#5 Whitney Houston 3 nominations and 1 win

I think the rerecordings have more a value for her when she gets requests to use her music in TV ads and movies. She had to decline every time to avoid Scooter make coins. Now with the rerecordings, she has for the rest of her life control over her own music, that is what she wants. Accepting the request and get her deserved coins. What the fans make with the rerecordings is just a bonus. If she sells albums or scores another #1 on the Billboard 200, that‘s an extra win.
As one of the best selling, highest grossing and most awarded artists of all-time with a net worth nearing half a Billion $ and having full control over her rerecorded music, Taylor can ride out this career for the rest of her life in whatever way she wants to go.March 19, 2021 at 6:34 pm #1204145931
btw this is random but i’m interested to hear what you guys have to say, how do you guys see taylor’s grammy wins in the future moving forward? i feel like i learnt a lot from this years ceremony in the sense that taylor is very much boxed in the pop category where she is popular enough to get nominations, but the support isn’t there for a win. like had gaga submitted a project like folklore, she would’ve swept the pop categories. but taylor couldn’t. it took everything and more for her to win one – the most important – but still just one win. she went from 10 wins in 2016 to 11 in 2021. do you guys think she’ll win much more? before the ceremony i was hoping that taylor would finish her career with at least 20 grammys but after this year i honestly don’t even know if she’ll make it to 15 :/ which makes me sad because i feel like she’s a legend that deserves at least 20. i know her 3 AOTYs are enough to write herself in the history books, but more grammy wins would really elevate her even more.
I wonder what makes you feel like that? She is 31 years old and only 10 females won more Grammys than her. Only 2 woman crossed the 20 Grammy milestone in history. Just look at the legendary names who had to settle below Taylor: Madonna, Mariah, Celine, Whitney, Shania, Enya, Janet, Tina, Dolly… none of them collected 11 Grammys. Michael Jackson, the king of pop, had to settle with 13 Grammy wins. And what you are not counting in right now is a collab effort that could be honored with a Grammy or two in the FAR future. Or Taylor wins with some songwriting credits another prize. This is meant that another artist has industry pull and Taylor profits. I would worry more about Ariana Grande who has a hard time to even win a second Grammy with her own work, 5 albums in.March 16, 2021 at 2:36 pm #1204139175
Taylor walked away with the main honor:
Grammy for AOTY: 2010, 2016, 2021
AMA‘s artist of the year: 2009, 2011, 2013, 2018, 2019, 2020
BBMA‘s artist of the year: 2013, 2015 (would have won if the show was on in the Fearless era)
VMA‘s video of the year: 2015, 2019
CMA‘s entertainer of the year: 2009, 2011
ACM‘s entertainer of the year: 2010, 2011
IFPI global recording artist: 2014, 2019
2021: 1March 16, 2021 at 12:45 pm #1204138912
Lady Gaga debuted as THE pop powerhouse the world has seen since Britney Spears. She is smart and build connections in the pop universe since day 1. She found a way to win 6 pop field Grammys and that is not a shock.
Taylor debuted in country and collected 5 honors in her genre. That is comparable to Gaga in pop. But Taylor switched into the pop universe and found great success numbers wise. However the voters seem to go for hits and care less about how well the work is crafted. Super hit>hit>medium success>flop.
Taylor‘s Grammy total is only beaten by 10 women historically, she is just doing fine. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.March 16, 2021 at 9:49 am #1204138285
Imagine this scenario: Taylor winning BPDG, BPSP and BPVA but losing AOTY. Compared to: her winning AOTY only (like what happened) What do you guys preffer? I preffer her winning AOTY and making history. Plus, that was Folklore’s award: album of 2020. The most important award. The others were up for grabs.
I don‘t think there is THAT much difference between 11 total Grammys, 13 total Grammys or 16 total Grammys. What makes it different is when one of the collections include a historical success. And that is 3 AOTY‘s. So no i would not change a thing.March 15, 2021 at 5:36 pm #1204136834
Taylor‘s first 8 albums by AOTY strength (commercial success+acclaim+campaigning):
5. Speak Now
8. Taylor SwiftMarch 15, 2021 at 4:51 pm #1204136724
Let’s just enjoy the folklore win for now. Let it sink.
Right? Like the first thing to pop up when she would collect her 4th AOTY with a new genre would be people asking a few hours later what is next for her, how can she get into the AOTY category again compete for a fifth one. Like, let‘s just enjoy the moment.March 15, 2021 at 2:09 pm #1204136193
On this day, leader RM explained to fans why the group was not able to receive the award. He explained, “The reason we weren’t able to win is, I think many of you probably expect this, but we took it as them telling us to come and get the award in person.”
RM further explained, “I saw a lot of articles saying we ‘failed’ to get the award, but I don’t think it’s a fail since we were able to perform for the first time as nominees. I don’t think it’s a failure but let’s look at the positive side; we were nominated for the first time and did our first solo performance.”March 15, 2021 at 5:38 am #1204132542
Biggest Spotify single AND album debut of 2020, biggest Billboard 200 opening week of 2020. Second most consumed artist in the world with the 4th best selling album worldwide won once again Album of the year at the Grammys. 15 years into the career. When others completely faded away at that point she is still going very strong.
