Fiona Apple The Weeknd Dua Lipa Tame Impala Lady Gaga Sturgill Simpson Dixie Chicks Roddy Ricch A solid AOTY lineup. A nice balance between Male and Female. And a nice mix between critical acclaim and mainstream appeal.
Run The Jewels – RTJ4, is on all the best lists of the year so far, also has good numbers on iTunes.June 10, 2020 at 1:43 am #1203524992

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Beyoncé: A ROTY nomination for “Savage” would be Beyoncé’s sixth in that category, which would allow her to surpass Barbra Streisand as the female artist with the most career nominations. (Strangely, for all these nominations, none of the stars have yet won in this category.) Streisand’s nominations include four solo hits and an ultra-romantic collaboration with Neil Diamond, “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers”. Beyoncé’s nods include three solo hits, a Destiny’s Child record and a collaboration with Jay-Z, “Crazy in Love</p>
Lady Gaga: Gaga’s new album, Chromatica, can be nominated for an album of the Year. Gaga has three previous nominations in this category for The Fame (2009), The Fame Monster (2010) and Born This Way (2011). Gaga became the second female solo artist to receive four or more albums of the year as the lead artist. The first was Streisand, which recorded six head nominations – for The Barbra Streisand Album (1963), People (1964), My Name Is Barbra (1965), Color Me Barbra (1966), Guilty (1980) and The Broadway Album ( 1986).June 5, 2020 at 9:28 pm #1203518463
The funny thing is I remember this forum all universally praising After Hours when it first came out but now the Dua, Fiona, and Gaga stans want to rewrite history and say it sucks.
Abel’s album is really good but he is not the best thing of the year.
Fiona and Dua have much more acclaimed albums.
Post Malone and Gaga are on the same level of acclaim as AHJune 5, 2020 at 6:23 pm #1203518276
Almost all of the AOTY sweep the awards that they are nominated for, and it seems that it only applies to The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch at this point, within the respective r&b and rap perspectively, but we can agree that the general public would award Blinding Lights before The Box. Lady Gaga will definitely beat Post Malone in Pop Vocal, and Pop Solo has a slight edge towards Blinding Lights with Circles on it’s coattails. Fiona literally has 3-4 awards, and I doubt that she will win only one, and that hasn’t happened since 2014, but Fiona Apple is no Beck, even she didn’t campaign
Gaga will lose BPSP, but she is wins BPVA and BPD/G, if Rain On Me has stability I can see it wins SOTY tooJune 5, 2020 at 6:16 pm #1203518267
If The Weeknd is not going to win AOTY, he is definitely going to win at least ROTY or SOTY with Blinding Lights. It’s definitely has the most cleanest lyrics of the year and on The Weeknd’s album, and it has that synth/dance-pop many musicians tried to emulate this year. I also think that if they award him ROTY and SOTY, voters might be like “Fuck it we already award him both awards, might as well”
I can see Abel winning SOTY and ROTY easily in addition to Pop Solo, but AOTY is a far cry from reality. Not now
