Well bcs she got a trifecta win (her and Nicole are the only ones with a important award at the moment) the only one with a good BO movie, her movie overperformed on SAG and Bafta long list and she was showed to have a good international and Insustry suport too.
Forgetting stats, I can’t see her winning this yearJanuary 21, 2022 at 2:17 am #1204741458
Having Being the Ricardo’s on Amazon is actually a great move for Nicole/the film. Maybe it’s my age but I’m not sure Lucille Ball is a big interest in the U.K. or anywhere outside of America so would have bombed in cinemas. I just don’t sense it doing well outside of craft awards for BAFTA which might hurt Nicole which is why I am leaning towards Olivia Colman. I also don’t think she has an overdue narrative (neither does Colman) so perhaps Jessica Chastain could sneak in and take the Oscar? Surprised she didn’t get double nominated at SAG for her film and TV projects – does she have the industry support? Kristen will be nominated but her chances are more or less dead. Not sure why everyone has Gaga so high? She’s 4/5th for me.January 18, 2022 at 5:23 am #1204735469
No trifecta, no regional wins, no GG, no AACTA nomination, no SAG (there’s no way she’s winning), a rock-bottom user score (the lowest for any BA nominee this century), no overdue narrative (Hopkins), a recent Oscar win (she’s not Frances McDormand). There’s literally not a single indicator of Colman winning another Oscar, but her delusional fans keep bringing her up.
Colman stans are now pinning their hopes on Colman winning the BAFTA, but I’m not even sure about this one. Her performance was not quintessentially British for a surefire win. Kidman won the BAFTA because she was portraying Virginia Wolf.
Saving this for a laugh at the end of March!January 18, 2022 at 3:22 am #1204735366
As much as I love Nicole Kidman, Olivia Colman will be winning her second Oscar this year. Olivia will win the BAFTA and then it will be very obvious to everyone else. People put their nose up to BAFTA as not being a strong precursor to the Oscars but look at Anthony Hopkins last year and Olivia a few years back. I don’t see BAFTA supporting a Lucille Ball biopic – she does not have the same impact in the U.K..January 12, 2022 at 7:10 am #1204718472

I wanted Mulligan to win for An Education and I’m a huge fan but not that upset about the result. Her career was going nowhere for a while and this has boosted it. Watch her get better roles now and some more nominations. Winning isn’t the goal, her career is.April 25, 2021 at 10:30 pm #1204227342
Not sure why should the Academy care about this, tbh. Streep’s vehicles were mostly average or even mediocre movies and she shouldn’t have been nominated for many of them. She’s a fantastic actress, but her lack of BP contenders in her filmography has pretty much hurt her chances over the years. McDormand has literally starred in a BP winner and a BP runner-up just in the last 4 years.
But Streep is always deemed the greatest living actress. You’re also on the site where many predicted close to win for a monstrosity of a role.April 25, 2021 at 10:27 pm #1204227328
People need to stop overlooking bafta. If they are winning despite the new rules and are nominated for the Oscar. They are most likely to win the Oscar.April 25, 2021 at 10:25 pm #1204227321

My issue with Frances winning again so soon is that they made Meryl wait 30 years for her 3rd. Fine, then Blanchett should have won for Carol. This May be an odd year but no more should we accept the argument of “too soon” to win again.April 25, 2021 at 10:15 pm #1204227266
Months and months ago I called it. Glenn was NEVER going to win and without giving a compelling argument, some users to try and shut you down. Well, for the last time, I TOLD YOU SO!April 25, 2021 at 10:13 pm #1204227259

No host is best. This is going to have to be a very precise year without gimmicks. Just presenting and winners speeches. Next year, come back with a host. Not now
