Adele is not sweeping but I doubt she goes 0/7
January 29, 2023 at 3:17 am #1205273260I’m pretty sure it was Andrea who took Danielle’s spot. Literally after SAG nominations some of us (including myself) said that the lineup would likely be Blanchett, Deadwyler, de Armas, Williams, Yeoh. Deadwyler needed to get some more #1 votes to get in and that went to Andrea. Blanchett and Yeoh were already locks, de Armas had the international support and also enough support in the US because the SAG nomination proved that, and Williams is in a Best Picture movie playing Steven Speilberg’s mother. I disagree when people say it was Ana de Armas and Michelle Williams who took her spot.
January 27, 2023 at 1:52 pm #1205270967The unfortunate thing is that Deadwyler may never get another opportunity to get nominated again, especially in lead. I sure hope she does, but this was probably the closest she will ever come to an Oscar nomination. It’s unlikely, but I really want her to win SAG.
January 27, 2023 at 7:28 am #1205270347Grace Randolph says she thinks Andrea’s nomination might get rescinded and she also thinks Frances Fisher and Mary McCormack will get suspended from the Academy.
January 25, 2023 at 7:20 pm #1205267869Ok so I just finished watching To Leslie. Andrea was indeed great and I would say the nomination is deserved just based on performance alone. How she got in, I have my opinions, but I won’t go into that. I would have really liked Deadwyler to also be nominated and it still bothers me a bit that she was left out. But I truly do hope she gets another opportunity to once again be in the awards conversation.
January 24, 2023 at 5:58 am #1205261216I did predict Andrea. But I’m sad Deadwyler got left out. The Academy disappointed me today.
January 23, 2023 at 1:46 pm #1205259499Lolll, you’re right, that’s weird. It should actually be after, no?
I really have no idea lol. For BAFTA when they called Danielle’s name after Viola I thought Ana got snubbed..but then they announced her name and I was surprised especially after the ordering from SAG. At this point I wouldn’t even be surprised if her name is called first tomorrow lol (the BAFTA longlist has her name listed before Blanchett)
January 23, 2023 at 1:05 pm #1205259442Does Ana de Armas name come before or after Danielle? I think SAG has her before and BAFTA has her name after Danielle lol
January 22, 2023 at 5:59 pm #1205258215A miss is a miss
Yeah..but it is almost a tie for 5th. Just 1 vote off. So it still showed she got some level of support which I think is important at least. Like if she had gotten that 1 extra vote to get in, would it truly have meant all that much more? It would just mean one extra vote. This is not a major televised award we’re talking about here. I respect your opinion, but I kindly view it as she still got some level of support just as much or almost as who placed 5th.
January 22, 2023 at 4:51 pm #12052581355. Deadwyler’s performance is quintessential SAG bait, but lacks international support based on the AACTA and LFCC miss while the Globes miss is already noteworthy.
That’s true. But I think she missed the LFCC nomination by 1 vote.
January 20, 2023 at 9:17 am #1205255075There is still a possibility Deadwyler is not the lone nomination for the movie.Till can get an Original Song nomination. I’m not personally predicting it, but its at #7 on Goldderby. It can maybe happen.
January 19, 2023 at 7:35 am #1205253274I said this before and now I will say this again, Viola getting BAFTA means nothing for Oscar nomination chances. She is likely a jury pick. I highly doubt she was top 3 when her film can’t even get Costume Design (where it is predicted for the Oscar). The BAFTA nominations don’t really tell us anything new other than reinforce that Blanchett and Yeoh are way ahead of the rest. I guess we can assume De Armas is top 3, which would be another great sign for her that she has the support.
January 17, 2023 at 5:05 pm #1205249983Oscar nomination voting has now ended. I’m hoping Deadwyler made it in.
January 16, 2023 at 7:19 pm #1205248789I see Andrea has overtaken Colman now in the odds and rankings. Next up – Margot Robbie
