Even if it did, the critical reception would prevent it from being nominated. It will probably be an Adventures of Tintin situation here.

Toy Story 4 has become the fifth movie this year to gross over $1 billion worldwide.

“Shape of You” was Ed Sheeran’s worst song on Divide
“Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” was Adele’s worst song on 25

Yeah that’s my point. Outside of the Timon thing where Billy intentionally tried to make him sound gay (and the outside references during some press junkets indicating that Timon and Pumbaa are a couple, which is ridiculous because they are both hetero, but whatever), this film has NOTHING to do with LGBT stuff, so Thatcher saying my opinion doesn’t matter because of the past homophobia has nothing to do with anything but past biases. I understand that maybe Thatcher actually liked this movie better than the original but that is a minority opinion and I can guarantee you this movie will be forgotten and the original will still be beloved and remembered for years to come.

Wrong. https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Tatiana Sad I remember this but i do lol
The animated version of Disney’s Timon is straight, yes! I know this, but it’s clear that the 2019 version of Timon, as played by Billy Eichner, was played with “gay sensibilities”. Also of course I remember, I LOVED the Timon & Pumbaa TV series.

What does that have to do with this movie?! I would love to know what that irrelevant bit of information has to do with this movie. There isn’t even any LGBT stuff in this movie (excluding Timon who is obviously flaming).

No! No it’s not! It’s a mediocre film at best.

Lorde is overrated.
“Royals” makes no sense lyrically.
Backstreet Boys were better than you remember.
Taylor Swift hasn’t had a good song since 1989 (the album, not the year)
“This is America” really only is good when played with the music video, by itself it’s just okay.
Ke$ha was a huge guilty pleasure back in the day.
Billie Eilish’s songs and musical stylings make no sense.
Meghan Trainor SUCKS! Her best song is “Better When I’m Dancin'”.
Ariana Grande doesn’t deserve her fame.
Adele is one of the five best female vocalists of all time.

This movie is terrible because it is abundantly clear that there was no effort put forth whatsoever from anyone. They just recycled the music from the first movie, albeit with some re-recording from the orchestra. They recycled 90% of the script, made certain scenes needlessly longer, and the idiot mistake of having the animals not emote in a fucking visual medium where you NEED TO HAVE characters emoting in order to illicit a response from the audience. That is the primary rule of filmmaking and it’s what made the first movie so amazing, because they anthropomorphized the first film in such a perfect way to make them believable lions but still be able to tell the range of expression needed to tell the story.
The 1994 movie was trying to give you something new, something different, something that people wanted to see. An epic story, beautiful animation, stellar voice acting, breathtaking music. Here it’s copy-and-paste almost line for line and the voice acting is somehow like community theater even though we have super talented actors in this movie. It’s weird.
It’s almost like Disney can just release anything, plaster a name of a familiar property on it, and people just are hypnotized into seeing it because Disney and they are making truckloads of money off of this with no effort. Man, I should try this. Live-action Snow White but it’s just 2 hours of a flower. I’ll make so much money! As a review I saw said, “why be alive when dead is enough. People would still see dead Disney”.
Also Seth Rogen should never sing again for the rest of his natural life.
And yet this movie is what people felt was necessary to make the highest grossing animated film of all time. At least with Frozen, I wasn’t a big fan of that movie, but at least I could understand it with that movie. This is just Razzie-worthy crap and yet it deserves to dethrone Frozen. Sad world. Now I am hoping and actively praying that Frozen 2 dethrones this. Toy Story 4 is eons better and yet it hasn’t surpassed $1 billion.
The visuals are awesome, but that is pretty much the only bright spot. At the end of Disney’s Meet the Robinsons, there is a Walt Disney quote that appears onscreen about how you need to “keep moving forward”. This is the complete opposite of moving forward. Creatively bankrupt, but financially Scrooge McDuck’s money vault.

That’s really fucking sad. Why couldn’t it belong to a more worthy animated feature?

It’s going to out-gross the original animated film.
How sad is that?
