I would have loved for a Parasite actress to be nominated but all four were brilliant. Also the producers aren’t exactly backing any one in particular.. so it will split.
I am still hoping for Zhao to somehow come inJanuary 9, 2020 at 11:41 am #1203272340
Sad thing is that there are way more deserving supporting roles that should get nominated, and rightly should win (Zhao Shuzhen) but they won’t. Instead we will get one of the weakest winner in the last few years.January 9, 2020 at 11:35 am #1203272322
With all the nominations and how award functions (except SAG) have passively snubbed anything and everything not white, men and ‘english’
I don’t think Parasite has good chance to win Best Picture
Academy hasn’t reached that stage where they are willing to embrace a foreign film for the best picture (Despite how deserving it is)January 9, 2020 at 10:21 am #1203272253
Any movie other than Parasite winning Best Picture would feel wrong to me. It’s way past time they chose a foreign film in the main category. There are great movies from all around the world, not only US and Europe.
But ain’t Oscars specifically for films produced by American production house or primarily is a American film. Oscars aint rewarding the global cinemaJanuary 5, 2020 at 11:53 am #1203261415
I am betting on Comer right now.January 5, 2020 at 9:54 am #1203261214
Olivia is attending. She was in LA and did a session for The Crown along with TobiasJanuary 4, 2020 at 10:49 pm #1203260694
Glenn and Renee are different
Glenn’s performance didn’t have the passion the way Renee’s performance has. I like ScarJo but her performance doesn’t have the same visibility like Renee has. Her films do but not her performance. Which wasn’t the case with Olivia
Narrative worked so well for Glenn, didn’t it? I know Johansson isn’t the most popular in this board, but the buzz has shifted towards her weeks ago. She’s been also quietly racking up critics awards, even moreso than Renée surprisingly, to make a win more digestible. I’d say the only thing else she needs is at least one televised win.January 4, 2020 at 10:34 pm #1203260650
Olivia isn’t attending? OhJanuary 4, 2020 at 9:35 am #1203259624
Joaquin is and should win. Yes Joker did receive a lot of controversy and wasn’t the best film people often claim but.. everyone were in unison with their agreement that Joaquin was absolutely fabulous. That is a performance for ages
I see Oscar not rewarding him only if they feel they have already given an award to same character before. A week argument because I don’t see otherwiseJanuary 4, 2020 at 9:28 am #1203259605
Am I still here hoping for Zhao Shuzhen to get in as a nomination. The way award functions have ignored her is heartbreaking. She deserves itJanuary 4, 2020 at 9:26 am #1203259595
Going to throw my sandal at my TV screen after the Joker winJanuary 4, 2020 at 9:21 am #1203259586
This is Renee’s year – There is no if and buts an sighs. Her performance was just superior.
The nominations are what I am looking forward to. I really want Lupita and Awkwafina to get up.
But The Farewell’s buzz isn’t strong and Awkwafina not getting nominated for SAG, Lupita looking like Emily Blunt of this award season and Cynthia being everywhere – is disappontingJanuary 4, 2020 at 9:09 am #1203259558
HBO will drop Westworld for their sole focus on Succession. There is lot of support everywhere. I can see it winning Best Drama
I really hope Jeremy Strong gets nominated for Best Actor. He bloody deserves it.January 4, 2020 at 9:03 am #1203259549
If Streep is losing to someone from a limited series, wouldn’t Watson (British, possibly to go along with Chernobyl’s win) or Arquette (throwing a bone to Hulu) stand a better chance to beat her?
Non of them have hype this year. Helen has better chances.
I am surprised people are voting for Toni. I love her but she wasn’t the best thing out of Unbelievable and neither in this category. People see that
