I really hope that you’re joking because no one should want that racist to win. I just wish people wouldn’t be so sensitive and actually have mature conversations without acting like 5 year old’s. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. Those fans do this EVERY year. Why even come on this forum in the first place?

Best Pop Solo: 1. As it Was 2. Easy On Me (These two seem the only right answers. Before I thought that Adele had this in the bag but now I’ve been kind of swayed to believe that Harry could win this category.)

Best Pop Vocal Album: 1. 30 2. Harry’s House (Adele will most likely win for her overall album. Especially, if she doesn’t win Album of the Year, which she still could. I really loved Lizzo’s album but I think her having an upset is just wishful thinking. Hopefully she doesn’t go home empty handed but the categories are just so competitive this year I don’t know what she can win.)

Best Pop Duo/Group: 1. Don’t Shut Me Down 2. Unholy (Despite the back and forths for days now I’m still going with these two as the final options. It will be the Pop legends vs. the Pop hit and one of them will take home the prize. 1000+ users/editors & experts on Goldderby think ABBA is the obvious winner for this category. I guess we’ll see.)

Best Pop Traditional: 1. Thank You. 2. Higher (I really hope they air this category live during the pre/main show just to hear Diana Ross’s speech if she wins. Her Grammy is long overdue and she deserves her moment. I’m not sure if she is attending but I hope she does. Or than that Higher could win.)

I truly believe live announcement or pre-show announcement isn’t a indicator at the grammys. We’ve seen this over and over again every year, I always remember of that year they presented Best Comedy Album live and since Ellen was there everybody thought she had won it just for Dave Chappelle to win it while not attending.

I agree. Although, I think it’s a toss up depending on what the category is.

I don’t think so. I think we find out as the Grammy’s (pre-show & main show) are happening. Outside of the general field which will obviously be announced live the other categories are speculative.

I honestly don’t think a lot of people in the US music industry were paying that close attention to BTS and didn’t “get” their appeal and assumed they were just a temporary fad…until their live Butter performance last year and their concerts at Sofi Stadium and Allegiant Stadium where they sold out the stadiums and also in Las Vegas the very venue the Grammys were held at for streaming the concert live. The whole city of Las Vegas lit up purple with special events and attractions related to BTS. Another thing to consider is that BTS members have to join the military, the eldest member is already serving. The other 6 members will most likely enlist by the end of the year. The voters may think this could be the last opportunity to recognize them. There are just so many things lining up in favor of My Universe winning.

    1. I don’t think the Grammy voters care about anything you just mentioned. Bts is still a boyband and the Grammy’s has never looked at boybands favorably. Even with their Butter performance that nobody outside of stan Twitter gave a darn about. 2. One Direction at their peak were just as popular if not more so than bts and they were never recognized at the Grammys. They sold out stadiums left and right too and sold millions of records. However, it wasn’t until Harry Styles went solo that he got any recognition. Now he’s nominated all over the general field and is a Grammy winner. He’ll probably be a multiple Grammy winner after Sunday. 3. I think the voters are more inclined to recognize ABBA who are Pop legends than bts. I don’t think the industry loves bts or regards them in the way that you think they do. I think they see them as more of a gimmick with crazy fans rather than actual artists. 4. Like I said, I’m going to wait and see if BPDG will be announced on live TV. I think that will be a big indicator of who has won the award.

That’s interesting because none of the songs they are nominated for are actually hits. My Universe isn’t even the biggest hit in BPDG or hardly a hit at all. Does he not know what hits are?

From what I read there are only going to be ten categories that will be announced live on television because there will be 30 performances including a 50 year Hip-Hop tribute. Out of the Pop categories I think they will either announce Pop solo or Pop Vocal Album. If they choose to announce Pop Duo/Group I think that means “Unholy” will have won. I believe that Doja is attending, not sure about Coldplay/Post Malone or ABBA, but “I Like You” could be a dark horse. If BPDG isn’t announced live I believe that “Don’t Shut Me Down” or “My Universe” will have won.

I’m extremely skeptical but we’ll see. Anything is possible. If ABBA doesn’t win BPDG then I personally think “Unholy” will win simply because it’s the biggest hit of the bunch and 90% of the time the biggest hit wins. ABBA is nominated for 4 Grammys so maybe they will upset in another category.

The sentiments often go hand in hand, though. For anyone who was alive and old enough back when Abba was their most popular it’s really not surprising that they didn’t win. The environment was just so competitive. That’s why artists like Diana Ross and Queen never won a Grammy. They were most active during that same era too. I really don’t see Abba getting enough support from voting members to pull it off for the same reason Tony Bennett didn’t get the support everyone here expected him to. They’ve added a lot of younger voting members in recent years.

Tony Bennett has won over 20 Grammy’s and he even won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album last year. Diana Ross will most likely win Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album this year and receive her first official Grammy for her music. ABBA is being predicted to win a Grammy and BPDG seems like the most likely category they will win. Outside of “Unholy” none of the other songs are huge hits and Pop legends like Bennett have beaten stronger songs in this category before. I’m still team ABBA but I guess on Sunday we’ll see.

I actually wasn’t dragging Abba. I liked them even back in the 70’s. All I was saying is that they were active during a time when some of the best, most legendary artists were active. Those artists were just bigger and more popular, so the reason they never won a Grammy wasn’t because they were robbed. They were up against Fleetwood Mac Rumours for crying out loud. That, to this day, is still one of the best albums ever made…absolutely timeless.

No one was/is saying that ABBA were robbed. That’s not the point. I’ve read a lot of articles about ABBA and the Grammy’s and most music journalists and people in general are just surprised that ABBA has never won one due to their impact on music. They are a legendary group. That’s why ABBA is currently the most predicted to win BPDG in Goldderby. It’s literally that simple.

I agree with what the majority are saying. Stating your opinion about artist (this case BTS) is not hating and it’s very much giving victimhood mentality when you guys claim that ‘everyone on this forum hates them for no reason’ when majority of comments have not been insults. You guys need to accept that outside your fandom no one really cares about BTS and that’s okay. But let’s not talk about this anyone it’s clogging up this topic. I’m rooting for Diana Ross and ABBA, not to fussed about the other awards but I think it’s Adele’s ones to lose. We’ll see on Sunday.

Agreed and done! Diana Ross has never won a Grammy (outside of a Lifetime Achievement award) for her music and ABBA hasn’t won anything at all. Hopefully this will be the year that the Grammy’s honors those 2 legendary acts. They are already doing it for Hip-Hop so I’m curious to see if they will spread the love for the Pop categories.

Girl i think you can’t read very well. I never posed myself, BTS or any other artist as a victim. And i did say that all artist get treated the same way. And if criticism are valid then so are counter-criticisms. It is YOU who is getting butthurt over me defending an artist. I understand you hate them, which is completely fine, but don’t let that cloud your judgement. I am tired of repeating this shit multiple times for you to get it. And i realize it now…. the only reason this forum gets clogged up with unneccesary comments because y’all fail to understand a thing the first time.

You see, here we go again. This is exactly what I’m talking about. Who said that I hate them? I’m definitely not their biggest fan but I’m not a fan of a lot of artists. Does that mean that I hate them all as well? It’s the perpetual victimhood for me. You can defend whomever you choose but why are you so upset about other people’s opinions about an artist/group that you like? Be mature and grow up! Counter criticize with facts & logic not by whining like a 2 year old because you think that someone is critiquing bts.

I think I’m the only BTS fan here. I don’t think I’m oversensitive at all. I’m not whining or complaining either. I’ve made an effort to correct some things that people were either incorrect about or just misunderstood or didn’t have the full context. I did get a bit frustrated having to repeat myself when some people were completely ignoring the main point I was making, but hey, I’m only human, lol. If anything some of the replies to me have been a bit oversensitive and emotional and at times very aggressive and somewhat nasty/mean. I find it really bizarre that some people get so bent out of shape over 7 guys who are extremely kind, humble and entirely unproblematic. It’s really weird.

I wasn’t talking about you but alright. Though, maybe I should have, because in your previous comments you accused a user of having “irrational hatred towards bts” just because they rightfully pointed out that most of the awards bts won in the U.S. were fan voted. Ok we get it. You’re a fan. Is it really that serious?

I said that Abba did not deserve to win back when their best known music originally came out because artists like Stevie Wonder, Fleedwood Mac, the Eagles, Bette Midler and all the others I mentioned before were dominating with better music. The only reason I see people saying Abba could win this time is to make up for them not winning back then, not because they think it’s the best song. As for My Universe…the song is so good and has a great message, about how when people love each other and want to be together, even if people don’t want or think they should be together, the heart wants what it wants and will overcome obstacles regardless of race, gender, sexual identity, religion, country/culture, etc.

“Better music” according to who? Just because ABBA wasn’t nominated for a Grammy doesn’t mean that the artists who were had “better music”. They all had equally good music. Plus, outside of a few acts like the Beatles, part of Fleetwood Mac and some other acts sprinkled here and there the Grammy’s weren’t as open to foreign acts as they are now. Personally, I think that all of the current songs nominated in BPDG are equally okay but none of them are exceptional or timeless. “My Universe” is an alright song but it’s not extraordinary or spectacular. I’m actually a Coldplay fan and I don’t think it’s anywhere near one of their best songs. I’m sticking with ABBA but who knows.
