They could theoretically also submit “Leave the Door Open” to pop since it was a big pop hit, and then their next single(s) in the R&B categories.
You read my mind. I was also thinking that Bruno could submit “Leave the Door Open” to Pop and/or R&B. He is a Grammy darling so I’m sure whatever category he submits too he will be accepted.July 28, 2021 at 7:31 pm #1204368733
I think Peaches is winning Pop Duo/Group. With or without TonyxGaga releasing. That song is the biggest crossover hit. You can’t go a day without hearing it on Hot 97 since it came out.
Agreed! Well, partially. Tony/Gaga will be hard to beat but I think a lot of people are underestimating “Peaches” chances. This could possibly be Justin Bieber’s first official Grammy for his own song.July 27, 2021 at 10:52 pm #1204367167
Personal feelings about DaBaby aside, I think that “Levitating” is too big a track not to submit to any category. At this point, it’s pretty much got Best Pop Duo/Group in the bag if Tony/Gaga don’t release their single before eligibility ends. I honestly don’t think that Warner is going to take that chance. DaBaby is one of the most popular rappers right now so I don’t think the controversy will last for much longer nor will the Grammys care when they are voting in October/December. I could be wrong but that’s what I think.July 27, 2021 at 7:12 pm #1204366872
The way some of you seem to think that just buying any BTS song over and over makes them stay #1 … that is unsustainable in so many ways for so many weeks. Can’t happen.
Except…..that is exactly what’s happening. Why do you think so many people are pointing out the fraudulence of “butter’s” chart placement? It’s most certainly not the #1 song in America. Not by a long shot. I don’t know if y’all have read the article I provided but here is an excerpt from it that describes the situation perfectly.
“The BTS Army are the watered-down musical equivalent of a grassroot movement: the overseas fans are collectively wiring money to the US fans under the disguise of hosting Paypal fundraisers (above) as an alternative method to using fake VPNs and IPs, which we know now will get filtered by Billboard (this method already poses so many wire fraud and/or money laundering risks), and from there the US fans are mass-purchasing the song through their online retailers, but mostly directly-to-consumer through artist’s website.
Youtuber and Billboard expert Mike Gondin explained to Forbes magazine that Columbia (BTS’ US distributor) and BTS’ niche audience are breaking ISRC codes too, all in order to allow bulk-buying Butter ever since its first week debuting number one. Each song’s identity is recognised by their own ISRC code, is dependent on the sound recording and differs if the new song on sale is +/- 10 seconds for example or an issued remix, effectively a material change. But Columbia have released ‘alternative’ cover arts of the original song but still labelled them differently to appear as a separate product, which can lead to breach of US consumer law and IFPI rules stated here.”July 27, 2021 at 5:30 am #1204365441
I’m super late to the party but can I just say that Ms. Mani KILLED THAT ISH!!! The vibe of the song is very mellow and chill yet the video was so fiery and passionate in the best way possible. I didn’t think that Cardi’s part was necessary to be honest but it was still cool. Chefs kiss all around. I can’t wait to see this song performed live.July 27, 2021 at 4:50 am #1204365386
I’ve said this a lot but Billboard’s formula is actually atrocious and makes no sense for the streaming era. Butter being #40 on streaming while allegedly being the biggest song in the country makes ZERO sense. Good 4 U should clearly be spending its 10th week at #1 but Billboard has decided to prioritize social media engagement over charts that accurately represent consumption. Industry Baby should be debuting at #1 next week but I assume ~11k people buying 24 copies of the same song will apparently make Butter more popular than Industry Baby, a song that millions of people are actually listening to. Quite curious to see if Lil Nas X will point out how inaccurate the charts currently are.
Louder for the delusional stans in the back!!! I’m going to be sooo angry if Industry Baby misses out on the #1 spot because of fraudulent multiple remix mass buying by bts stans. Ain’t no one outside their fandom listening to that autotuned, generic, pop garbage song “butter”. Their abysmal streams speak for themselves and when over half the chart has almost 2Xs the streams of the supposed #1 song in America that looks very questionable. There’s a really good article written about that & why Billboard is just letting this happen. It’s very irritating because it just shows how irrelevant and useless Billboard is becoming. I’m glad the Grammys aren’t considering chart placement anymore when it comes to which artist/group is awarded. Best decision they’ve ever made.April 26, 2021 at 11:26 pm #1204230861
Pop voters clearly liked Justin Bieber enough to nominate him across the board for subpar material. So the Justice era might not be any different. As of now, “Peaches” could win Pop Duo/Group. It’s not a monster smash single but having Daniel Caesar & Giveon as featured artists gives the song some credibility.
Agreed! However, can Bieber/Giveon & Caesar beat Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett two Pop Grammy darlings? Plus, this is Bennett’s last official album and he worked on it with Alzheimer’s. It’ll be tough.April 26, 2021 at 2:25 pm #1204230089
who are the contenders for BPDG?
Right now, I think the strongest contenders in BPDG are “Levitating”- Dua/Dababy and “Peaches”- Bieber/Daniel/Giveon. “Butter” will probably be Dynamite 2.0 so it might have a chance of getting into the category depending on how weak the rest of this year’s releases are. Billie might get into BPDG with her upcoming album, so might Tony Bennet/Lady Gaga and maybe Silk Sonic if they submit a song to Pop. Also, Taylor Swift might submit to BPGD again. I guess we’ll see.April 9, 2021 at 1:09 am #1204187657
Doja and SZA’s collab was good. I could definitely see it getting nominated if it gets big.April 9, 2021 at 1:06 am #1204187651
Very nice & cute song. I really like it. Especially, SZA’s part.April 8, 2021 at 9:28 pm #1204187460

- Chloe × Halle
- Jazmine Sullivan
- Katy Perry
- Nicki Minaj (how could Cardi B win a Grammy before her 😖😖😖)
not sure about the collab but i do know they are supposedly releasing new music on may. i don’t think it’s an album, i saw the articles talking more about a single so maybe is a summer single, who knows…
Has anyone confirmed whether this single will be in English or Korean? If it’s in Korean I seriously doubt they will be nominated in any category (as none of their other Korean stuff has) and if it’s in English and its Dynamite 2.0 then yikes……😬😬😬. It was a really weak year last year so they were able to get into BPGD but I don’t know if the same trick will work for Grammy’s 2022.April 6, 2021 at 10:07 pm #1204183084
Honey, this year is underwhelming as fuck. BARF!
It definitely is. Imagine if all these artists released before the Grammy 2022 deadline ended. Beyonce, Adele, Lorde, Kendrick, Bruno (Silk Sonic), Billie Eilish (new album is coming out soon) and Rihanna. That would be epic.April 6, 2021 at 9:57 pm #1204183073
Lol y’all find every year underwhelming. Last year we had After Hours, Fine Line, Future Nostalgia, Hollywood’s Bleeding, Megan, yet y’all still complained and said it was a weak year.
I mean, “Yummy” was nominated in Pop Solo so a “weak year” is an understatement.
