Freddie Highmore – Bates Motel
Freddie Highmore – The Good Doctor
Alfie Allen – Game of Thrones (Yes, he was nominated for the final season, but I honestly think he also deserved nominations for several of the previous seasons)
Justin Theroux – The Leftovers
Peter Capaldi – Doctor WhoApril 3, 2020 at 10:07 pm #1203409059
With the talk going on about Carell, and some saying his role isn’t that big, should the studio have kept him in supporting?
I honestly thought that Carell would be more likely to be nominated if he competed as Supporting Actor… but he got a nomination at SAG, so maybe he can surprise us all.April 3, 2020 at 6:09 pm #1203408835
My Emmy campaign for Jack Falahee and Aja Naomi King starts NOW after last night’s HTGAWM episode. I’m obviously kidding (as there not making it of course), but they were dynamite and heartwarming. I love them.
It is a pity too that Liza Weil was never nominated for HTGAWM, because she deserved it so much.March 31, 2020 at 12:29 pm #1203403212
The Long Night (an episode that I really like, just to make it clear) never had the same unanimity of Battle of the Bastards. Although I imagined at the time that it would lose to Succession or Killing Eve, not Ozark.March 31, 2020 at 11:54 am #1203403115
This episode would be a great tape to Odenkirk.March 31, 2020 at 9:04 am #1203402714
Another season of The Good Doctor is over. Do you think Freddie Highmore would bè deserving for this particular role and this particular season? I know it looks impossible for him to break the field, but God they can’t smub him forever. He already should be a winner for Bates Motel.
Highmore deserved a nomination this year, just as he did in previous years for Bates Motel and The Good Doctor … but I find it impossible to happen.
ABC should better promote this series in the awards campaign. Not for the series itself to be nominated, of course, but for Highmore. How To Get Away With Murder has the infinite advantage of having an Oscar winner as the protagonist.March 30, 2020 at 5:47 pm #1203401933
I still hope that HBO will soon reveal that Harris will be Supporting this year, considering he is absent from three of the eight episodes of season 3, at the very least.March 30, 2020 at 5:41 pm #1203401925
It’s really a shame that Homeland was unable to film and release this final season for the Emmy 2019. With last year’s competition, I think Homeland would have been able to return in Series and Actress. This year, I suppose that only Patinkin can be nominated.March 30, 2020 at 1:58 pm #1203401691
In Supporting Actor, I think we should not underestimate the chances of Giancarlo Esposito and Mandy Patinkin being nominated again. Esposito was nominated twice for the role of Gus (once for Breaking Bad and once for Better Call Saul), while Patinkin was nominated for seasons 2, 3, 6 and 7 of Homeland, even after the Emmys stopped loving the series.March 30, 2020 at 11:45 am #1203401477
I actually liked the second episode more for Bateman. Am I the only one? It was hella intense and the montage at the end was superb.
I also thought that the second episode was better than the first, but last year Bateman also directed the first two episodes and he submitted the first one to the Emmy. So I suppose he must repeat the strategy this year.March 30, 2020 at 11:33 am #1203401449
As for Ozark’s chances in Directing, I bet on Jason Bateman for the season premiere and Alik Sakharov for the season finale.March 30, 2020 at 10:06 am #1203401135
“Despite having to halt production earlier this month due to coronavirus, The Good Fight is still scheduled to bow on Thursday, April 9. However, a source close to the show tells TVLine that episodes in the back half of the 10-episode season could be delayed as a result of the shutdown.”March 29, 2020 at 9:15 pm #1203400431
I finally finished the third season of Ozark, which is much better than S1 and S2. Bateman, Linney and Garner will easily return among the nominees.
Janet McTeer has more screentime and material this season, but I honestly find it difficult to her be nominated, as Supporting Actress is too full of stronger candidates. Tom Pelphrey is amazing and I believe he has a better chance than McTeer of being remembered at the Emmys.March 27, 2020 at 12:50 pm #1203397332
If the Emmy Ballots 2020 are only released in July, can this also affect the Gold Derby TV Awards? I ask this because the Emmys Ballots confirm the categories and shows of actors and actress that do not appear in the Prediction Center and that we can request to be added to the voting (there’s also the case of Guest categories).
