Whenever I’m here or on Twitter, I’m hyped up for Mulligan and have her winning. But then the SAG and GG loss came up to my mind to warn me: film Twitter is not any guild or AMPAS. I think a POC woman is winning this, following GG and SAG. (Happy for my Mcdormand today btw!)
I thought so too at BAFTA in a category filled with POC contenders but the general membership said nay to the jury. AMPAS won’t care either considering they only nominated one black movie even in the BLM context. It’s either they like it or not.April 11, 2021 at 1:52 pm #1204194152
Couldn’t be more happy for Youn, Sound of Metal and Promising Young Woman!

If Youn takes the Oscar I’m going to cry. Such a beautiful and deserving win especially after what we got last year.April 10, 2021 at 2:31 pm #1204190589
So what do you think it’s winning British Film? More confused now than before.April 7, 2021 at 10:46 am #1204183855
After Globes I remember saying Hollywood will go for diversity this year and have 4 POC winners. Looks like I was right. This is between Davis and Day.April 4, 2021 at 1:03 pm #1204175502
To believe this stylist nonsense you’d have to believe that: 1) Bakalova won 2) Bakalova told her stylist that she won despite an army of lawyers warning her and her management team about the importance of confidentiality 3) When she told her stylist against all common sense, she somehow DIDN’T inform her of the confidentiality requirements or 3a) She DID tell her stylist about the importance of confidentiality, and her stylist went ahead and posted a congrats for the award ON INSTAGRAM with the full knowledge that it was against the express instruction of her friend.
Lol you sure seem like you’re ready to arrest both of them.April 4, 2021 at 9:25 am #1204174942
Wait a damn minute. The predictions wasn’t closed to everyone? And they carried on about banning people and deleting posts on the basis of leaks while others could still update their predictions?!
Yep. Some of them updated their predictions to Trial on April 1 and the prediction center closed for us ‘losers’ on March 30.March 22, 2021 at 11:55 am #1204151128
Also nomnadland is getting picture Pyw seems to be getting lead actress and Trail of Chicago 7 is not leaving without another Oscar with its editing Oscar so my girl Emerald Fennell may have to wait to get a Oscar cause i think the writers branch of the academy is gonna favorie Mr Sorkin.March 22, 2021 at 6:57 am #1204150495
Just realised that whatever does wins BP will be the first time a films win without “needing” something in the run up. • Nomadland – missed sag • Promising Young Woman – missed sag • Minari – missed editing • The Trial of the Chicago 7 – missed directing — • The Father – missed directing and SAG — • Judas and the Black Messiah – missed directing, sag and editing • Mank – missed sag, editing & screenplay • Sound of Metal – missed SAG, directing and editing
Sound of Metal didn’t miss Editing and it’s most probably winning it too. Trial looks like a sinking ship.March 14, 2021 at 1:45 pm #1204122766
Both THR and Variety are predicting Strathairn. But they still kept Raci, which doesn’t make any sense. Chadwick is a lock in this category. I doubt they’re gonna pass double nominating him. I’m not buying this Strathairn hype, but keep in mind that only two BP winners didn’t have a Supporting Actor/Actress nomination (10’s): Parasite, for obvious reasons, and The Hurt Locker, because Avatar didn’t have one too.
Why not? He’s already winning an Oscar.March 10, 2021 at 1:19 pm #1204105500
Is there any chance of a Korean family winning BP for the second year running? It didn’t even occur to me until just now that it could disadvantage Minari, even though it’s my favourite (as was Parasite) – a tad ahead of Nomadland.
The thing with Minari is that I don’t see what else it could win except Supporting Actress. It’s not the frontrunner in any other category and I don’t think Chloe is losing Director to Chung.
