Shocking. I mean, this could still pull a Rylance (very similar run) but I’m not holding my breath.
So sad for Amy. I just can’t believe she’s losing to Regina’s performance.January 27, 2019 at 10:52 am #1202750396
I’ve seen If Beale Street Could Talk and I think of Regina what most people think here. She’a as usual a magnetic presence on screen but really she has few to do in the movie and in no way she stands out. Probably she would not be on my nominee list.. and I loved her in Ray, The Leftovers, American Crime and Seven Seconds I hate this race being between two amazing actresses, Adams and King, for different reasons both overdue, but both with the wrong performance. On merit alone Rachel Weisz would win this one.
Well it should be between Adams and King as they are true supporting performances. Weisz is not.January 26, 2019 at 9:53 pm #1202749880
Guys there’s THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of SAG voters. Just because a number of people voted for a certain actor/actress and revealed it on the internet means they are the likely winner.
My friends of Facebook voted for Adams on both categories, yet I am still not confident about it until she is announced the winner.January 24, 2019 at 9:25 pm #1202747634
Wait, where was that Melissa Leo FYC picture circulated?January 24, 2019 at 8:13 am #1202746794
It’s low key spamming at this point…January 23, 2019 at 11:34 pm #1202746386
For some reason, I am more confident in Amy’s win than I have ever been all awards season long. There’s just something off about rewarding King for a performance that Amy’s previous nominations dance in circles around and I think they will feel this way too.January 19, 2019 at 12:12 pm #1202739603
Okay so I’ve finally seen both Vice and Baele Street, and honestly both of them don’t deserve the win. But I’m amazed at all the people bashing King for an overrated performance (which is true) and then singing Amy’s praises, when she too has given a overrated performance in a mediocre film. That ‘Two Times’ scene was painfully bad and completely laughable. If I HAVE to choose I’d choose King over Adams because imo she was better and because Adams deserves to win for something less mediocre than this. But I can’t see how anyone can be against King winning but be totally fine with Adams winning and vice-versa. Here’s wishing Rachel takes this.
The “Two Times” scene is amazing. It’s the internet pundits making it seem as if it was bad. The dialogue is really terrible, but she made it very life like and as an actress she killed it. Let’s remind ourselves she’s playing a 20 year old college student here.
I’ve said it many times King and Adams’ performances are very similar but King is so overhyped OR a product of sheep mentality that I think this overratedness will hurt her in the end. There’s nothing remotely un-Regina about it, while Adams played different ages in her film, a real person, and something that is very different from many of the roles she’s played (her role in The Master comes to mind but she is playing a living person here so no flexibility as far as acting choices go.)
Rachel shouldn’t take it because for me she was the most lead out of all of them. Anyway, she’s also internet hype. Wasn’t she supposed to take the Globes?January 15, 2019 at 1:15 am #1202734742
Whether she wins or loses, I feel like King will definitely get a career boost. Both her and Adams have the overdue factor, and yes, race does play a big part because will King get ANOTHER chance at an Oscar, when Adams absolutely will (already have one lined up for TWITW)?January 14, 2019 at 11:16 pm #1202734687
One person out of thousands…. We have SAG voters here too and we already know who they are voting for.January 13, 2019 at 8:23 pm #1202733128
I’m not too confident about that. The exposure Robbie will get will be massive from this nomination. She’s an it-girl with a lot of promise. Perhaps King’s absence could hurt her (because she likely took her spot, despite her non-industry wins.)January 13, 2019 at 7:55 pm #1202733083
Regina King’s momentum ends tonight. Let’s see who will take advantage.January 13, 2019 at 5:45 pm #1202732456
All these actors pretending to be shocked.

And if TF ladies were all to go lead I’m pretty sure one of them would be left out. Strangely, I think it would either be Weisz or Colman (!)January 13, 2019 at 7:52 am #1202731592
How can those two ideas coexist?
This is Hollywood. Of course her win was to ride off her inspirational journey. She wasn’t the best (subjectively) but good enough to reward a solid career. It was definitely one of the most memorable wins whether you approve of the winner or not.
