There was nothing exceptional about Pike in Gone Girl. She just repeated the ole Blonde White Woman with a vengeance role that so many others before her have done and did it so much better than her. Charlize, Glenn, Sharon, Jessica, Nicole, and the list goes on. Although a very entertaining role, nothing that hasn’t been done before and certainly nothing exceptional. She lost and rightfully so that year.

the pike dilemma is just another case of mistaking compelling character with great performance.

Yea his work is overrated. Reitman got lucky because of his father. his direction and writing is adequate. Never understood how he was nominated for best director for Juno when affleck directed the hell out of gone baby gone the same year.

ignorance too. regardless, she was a worthy winner overdue or not. when she was frantically searching for the bathroom and her phone, her speech, at the end when she couldn’t even speak…Girl made still alice into a whole horror movie, she was that good. rosamund just had the most compelling character and the better movie but from an acting standpoint, julianne, reese, and marion were the best.

Lmaoo not people still dragging JLo ass when Selena and Out of Sight exist. It dont take a “best actress Oscar nomination” to recognize a good actor.

And comparing her to Gaga make zero sense. not only was both fantastic in their respective films but like someone mentioned, they’re in completely different circumstances, gaga having more edge. Will not be surprised if she gets in. She can and she should.
