I haven’t seen the Ladd and Baxter versions, but I would say Redford is the best portrayal I’ve seen. But that’s mainly because I don’t really like the Baz Luhrman version of The Great Gatsby.

Even though it is a Ryan Murphy production, I don’t see Boys in the Band being that much of a presence at Globes. Especially if it goes Drama, where the competition is so large. And if it goes Comedy, I see the HFPA going more towards The Prom since that has a larger presence then Boys in the Band. It’s biggest chance for a nomination seems to be…[Read more]
I would say this show was definitely an improvement of last week, but this show was still pretty weak. Adele was a decent host, but she didn’t really save any of sketches in my opinion. As usual, the cold open was just forgettable and not funny, and I’m still not feeling Jim Carrey’s Biden. The best part of the episode for me was the Village…[Read more]
This a tough one, but I ended up going with DiCaprio. Since he has probably the most work coming up and a lot of upcoming baity roles for just next year alone. But I wouldn’t be suprised if Pacino or Denzel get 10 first. Since they are much closer to 10 then DiCaprio is, and also have baity performances on the way as well.
#1 – “Speak Now” (One Night in Miami)
#2 – “Hear My Voice” (Trial of the Chicago 7)
#3 – “lo si” (The Life Ahead)
#4 – “The Plan” (Tenet)
#5 – Original song from The Prom
William Gillquist replied to the topic Should Best Original Song contenders be judged by Oscar telecast performances? in the forum Movies 2 days, 7 hours ago
Hell no, because then “Remember Me” would have lost to “This Is Me” back in 2018. And also songs should be judged as songs, not by how they look as a performance. It takes away the whole point of the category.
1. Mank (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross)
2. Tenet (Ludwig Gorannsson)
3. One Night in Miami (Terrence Blanchard)
4. Soul (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross)
5. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Branford Marsalis)
Alfred Newman, Max Steiner, Henry Mancini, Marvin Hamlisch, Bernard Hermann, John Williams, Thomas Newman, and James Horner have all been double nominated before. Alfred Newman and John Williams have been doubled nominated three times actually.

Also I think the film would have to get exceptional reviews to get Best Picture. For now the only categories I see it having a chance in are Actress, Supporting Actress, Original Song, and some tech awards. For now, I’m not seeing Best Picture.
