Kristen Stewart’s also been working in Hollywood for 20 years and has always seemed incredibly well-liked in the industry even if she’s polarizing outside of it, Ana de Armas isn’t really comparable to her.
Okay let’s not go too far…
September 8, 2022 at 12:50 pm #1205073305Where is this Ana is more respected/beloved than Kristen Stewart coming from? Ana has played the hot girl in all of her films until now (outside of Knives Out) I’d hardly say she’s beloved. She’s an in girl for sure, but beloved? Some of y’all are really stretching it.
The sentiment that Ana de Armas is the “it” girl and is loved by the industry right now is actually obvious. I would not say the same for Kristen Stewart though she’s had a longer career with more achievements.
February 8, 2021 at 7:47 pm #1204032186Are voters even allowed to vote without seeing a movie?
Ugh apparently yes….. aren’t people here doing the same thing, either?
For example, I bet many Oscars voters voted Regina King for Best Supporting Actress that year without actually seeing If Beale Street Could Talk. People can always vote based on hype instead of real feelings. This CC list, a GG revision, looks exactly like that.

ReplyJanuary 27, 2021 at 12:31 am #1204004530I would respond too this but it seems you’re being provocative and just refusing to be polite when you’re disagreeing with others. Some of us are predicting an over-performance for PYW and some aren’t? So what? You’re predicting The Trial of the Chicago 7 to be the Oscar frontrunner. Does that mean you’re a massive stan of that? No. You and Yu Terry keep posting about how you found Promising Young Woman overrated and bad and then accusing others of letting their own personal bias influencing their predictions and I find that inherently hypocritical. It’s ok to let your personal qualitative thoughts influence your predictions and it’s ok to disagree with others but you shouldn’t just descend to childish regressive retorts when you disagree with someone.
Why do you sound like you feel you’re the judge here and try to high-road people? I’ve had only one comment about PYW Jesus…. Or are you so desperate that you keep track of everyone who likes the posts with message against PYW? That sounds scary. We all know you’re the biggest stan of PYW here and I’ve said nothing against you personally, right? So now calling me out personally and judging people with those subjective words? Every film gets good and bad words here but you only focus on people who talked against PYW. Did PYW the only film here get response like “I think it’s too high on your prediction” or “it might be overestimated”? Why are they okay for other films while “childish” for PYW?
Relax and let go. Don’t be triggered like this because somebody said your fav is overestimated next time. Let people talk.
January 25, 2021 at 10:34 pm #1204001791After AFI,
Good news for:
1.Judas and the Black Messiah
2.Minari
3.Sound of Metal
4.SoulBad news for:
1.Promising Young Woman
2.News of the WorldI think the Father will eventually get in. I don’t get the PYW hype, either. It’s cheesy and a bit messy imo.
January 23, 2021 at 8:09 pm #1203998238Since its release the following have praised Promising Young Woman: – Judd Apatow – Matt Bomer – Rod Lurie – Seth Rogen – Ben Stiller I think it’s fair to say that the reactionary theory that Promising Young Woman won’t do well because men won’t want to vote for it can be safely thrown out of the window now.
Do you think any man or woman who disliked PYW, especially the celebrities, would dare to come to Internet and voice their negative opinion loudly? Lol they would be labelled as misogynist or someone who is “uncomfortable about women revenging for rape” by this crazy Twitter cancel culture immediately.
Also, rarely do public figures say bad things about a film they watched publicly, right?
February 14, 2019 at 12:25 am #12027755841. Do a “GolDderby users’ Oscars ballot” to see [if we are able to vote for Oscars, what result will turn out to be?] Nominees need to be the same as Oscars. Users vote by their own preference. 2. Show the complete results (including “who’s #2,#3….” & “Who’s #6,#7…,which could nearly get into nomination) of our annual GoldDerby Film Award. 3. Add emoticons to comment sections so that there will be more ways to express our feelings for others’ comments. However, don’t create the “dislike” button cuz that will bring more negativity and war to the forum. 4.Make “GoldDerby Music Award” or whatever we can vote for the same Grammys nom lists by our own preference, not just by prediction. 5.Make “searching for past threads by key words” user-friendly. Current one is kind of messy. Thanks, @TomO’Neil ,@ChrisBeachum ,and all the editors for ur efforts & creating this place. Love
Wow thank you so much! You’re really caring about this place. Those are all awesome advice/ideas to make GoldDerby better.
